in lifestyle and cultureEconomy class is now upgrading to lie-flat plane seats
Lifestyle
by Sarah Joseph
1 minute agoWith rampant innovation in the aviation industry, lie-flat pods in economy class are the latest amongst them.
For all the avid globe trotters, finding a way to get comfortable sleep on an airplane feels near impossible and Air New Zealand is here to change that in 2024.
On June 28, the airline company announced the launch of its latest SkyNest concept, with flat seats, real mattresses, cooling pillows and bedding.
Each aircraft will come fully equipped with six pods which include bunk beds stacked three high, available to anyone ticketed in economy or premium economy class.
To ensure utmost hygiene, the linens will be replaced in 30-minute cleaning windows, for guests to feel comfortable and rejuvenated for any long-haul flights. In addition to the flight ticket, passengers will need to pay a fee, in order to rent the spot, that’s bookable in four-hour increments.
Greg Foran, chief executive of Air New Zealand said, “We wanted to offer our economy customers a lie-flat option and that’s how SkyNest was born. It’s going to be a real game changer for the economy travel experience.”
Currently, New Zealand Air offers SkyCouch at no extra cost on a complimentary basis. Customers can extend the specifically designed footrests from all the three seats in an economy row to effectively widen the seats and turn them into a makeshift bed.
The revamped flights will include a host of new amenities to cut back on carbon emissions and overall aesthetics. With lighter-weight designs and new upholstery, the newly-released aircraft will definitely make a difference for any future bookings.

in lifestyle and cultureEverything you need to know about the New Moon in Cancer
Lifestyle
by Team Emirates Woman
1 minute agoWords by Kirstyn Lewis – Founder of the Karmic Soul
This morning we are all waking up to the glorious New Moon in Cancer, where she is at her happiest until just before dawn on July 1.
We won’t see it, of course, as the moon sits in her shadow but you will feel this lunation, she is making sure women are being noticed. She asks us to be more receptive, caring, sensitive and loving toward others. Cancerians are famous for synchronising their moods to the waning and waxing of the Moon.
Although we may feel empowered, we can also expect to feel a bit like our fair Moon Maidens, moodier. It seems whatever you have to say may not be taken seriously. This is inflaming things for you as it relates to your value system. It begs the question: what will be revealed by the Full Moon in Capricorn on July 13?
Cancers will be in the thick of it, our mystical Scorpio friends will be keeping a low profile knowing it was all going to kick off (and probably started this whole quagmire), Pisces tried to tell you so, and Aquarians, Taurus and Gemini gals can expect to fair best. Good luck everyone else, see you on the other side. Show us what you’re made of!
Cancer rules breasts, the stomach and motherhood – those matters will be highlighted and at the forefront, particularly this week. Women may even seek you out in your home for advice, which will affect them long-term.
Did you know women can be unusually fertile during the New Moon in Cancer if your moon cycle is in sync with her?
It appears a partner or beau is very encouraging of what you’re doing in and around work; you may even be travelling overseas or committing to higher education. An intelligent foreigner can easily fall for you (your accent or popularity); luckily, they admire your selflessness and kindness to others.
Are you putting yourself first for a change? You will score more points if you. Hopefully, you are chasing your dreams, working in the public eye, or an area related to women. The New Moon favours those in media, writing, academia, charity work and law.
One precursor is to be wary of quick results and those you cannot intuitively or entirely trust. You may feel someone is trying to dent your image. Perhaps you are insecure generally; either way, diplomacy will win the day; keep your thoughts and hearsay to yourself. You’re better off hanging out with those who believe in you.
By the end of the week, you may be bent on revenge. Is someone attacking you for something you strongly believe in? Again, you would be wise to keep any drama totally separate from your work life.
Thank goodness, by July 7, you will be back on track again. Keep a low profile as your psychic energy is a bit wired right now. You don’t want someone calling you crazy, right?
Let the spirits flow through you until the Full Moon in Capricorn rolls around mid-July. You will look back and realise you were more emotionally capable and far wiser than you believed and the Universe had your back. Power-up, ladies.

in lifestyle and cultureThis new Emirates service takes the check-in process to a whole new level
Lifestyle
by Sarah Joseph
1 minute agoEmirates Airlines is continuing to push the boundaries when it comes to a superior travel experience.
The Dubai-based airline has now introduced a new service where passengers can complete the whole check-in process from the comfort of their own homes.
Introduced by the airline’s partner DUBZ, this service can be availed on a complimentary basis for both Dubai and Sharjah first-class passengers. Other Emirates customers can enjoy the service at exclusive rates starting from Dhs177.
By reducing the hassle of reaching the airport on time, this seamless concept sends a check-in staff member and a car to the passenger’s home to complete the formalities and pick up the suitcases.
As part of the procedure, customers will receive their boarding passes upon document verification and checking in of any bags to be able to effortlessly board their flight. So, how does it all work?
The service needs to be booked at least 24 hours prior to flight time, with the latest check-in for home service being six hours before departure.
However, for any last-minute baggage additions, there is an allocated counter for any excess check-ins for first-class passengers.
Upon arrival, travellers can also proceed straight to their home or hotel without the need to wait for baggage collection. The land and leave service comes at a price of Dhs93 per bag, for collection, clearing through customs, sanitisation and doorstep delivery.
To add to the long list of perks, first-class passengers can also avail of the limousine drop-off services at no extra cost. This can be booked through the Emirates chauffeur service.
