12 editor-approved podcasts for the ultimate weekday break

    Life

    by Sarah Joseph

    VIEW GALLERY/ 12 IMAGES
For some much-needed escapism, podcasts are an ideal way to unwind.
With an ocean of stories, interviews, in-depth discussions and trusted voices, they’ve become an interesting source of information that caters to a wide variety of audiences.
From honest fashion reviews to female empowerment discussions, the topics are endless in each of these podcasts and can get you addicted in no time.
To listen, you simply access the podcast through any of the streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple, Amazon and other smaller platforms, making it a click away.
    The History of Podcasts
The concept of downloadable audio content began as early as the 1980s with audio blogging and internet radio. In the 1990s, the MP3 format revolutionized digital audio, enabling easier storage and sharing of sound files. At this time, some early experiments in digital audio distribution appeared, but they lacked the infrastructure we associate with podcasts today.
    The Evolution
Podcasts have become a truly global phenomenon, with creators and audiences emerging from all over the world. More podcasts are available in multiple languages and cater to various regional cultures and interests. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 accelerated the popularity of podcasts, as people spent more time at home and sought new forms of entertainment and learning.
So whether a morning commute or a long-haul flight, you’re sure to be entertained with vital information through any of these information-fuelled podcasts. Overall, podcasts are a fantastic way to learn, be entertained, or just dive into topics you’re passionate about. Whether you’re into true crime, comedy, history, science, or even niche interests like knitting or board games, there’s probably a podcast out there for you.
Fashion, being a visual medium with a relatively niche audience, may not appear to be the most conducive subject matter for a podcast. But in an era of intuitive podcasts, where there seems to be a show for everything, style has no shortage of audio content.
From Dior Talks to The goop Podcast hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow, there’s no dearth of information around us with a click of a button to listen, learn and educate ourselves during any long-haul flight or even our daily commute.
With the proliferation of podcasts, finding one to effortlessly incorporate into your daily routine can be quite the task and hence, Emirates Woman is here to help.

    And what is the worst?
That luxury service should be predictable. Real luxury is about personalisation, so for us, there’s no ‘formula.’ Every member deserves a distinct experience.
What’s the biggest challenge you have had to overcome Director of Private Lifestyle?
During the pandemic, it was a challenge to adapt our services to new limitations while maintaining our standards. However, it led to creative solutions that strengthened our resilience and innovation.

A solid-colored tablecloth, lace, or a delicate runner sets the stage. For a more rustic or casual vibe, you can use a natural fiber placemat or no tablecloth, showing off a beautiful wooden table.
    Elegant Plates and Flatware
Use your best dishes or a set with a sophisticated or artistic design. Opt for gold or silver flatware to add a touch of luxury. You can also layer plates (e.g., charger plates under dinner plates) for a more elaborate look.

20 refined coffee table books for a strong interiors game

    Life

    by Sarah Joseph

Designed for the avid traveller, minimalist and art enthusiast, coffee table books have become a décor staple in every home.
As a visually stunning aesthetic designed to be placed on coffee tables, bedside tables, dining tables and even TV consoles, coffee table books have gained immense popularity over the years with its thick glossy pages created to educate readers of all ages.
Whether you’re looking to spruce your home or gift a memoir to your loved one, these eye-catching books can seamlessly fit into any shelf.

    Stack them in layers
Arrange 2-4 books in a neat stack, largest book at the bottom, gradually smaller on top. Additionally, you can also have one tall stack of books next to a shorter stack to add visual interest.
Use as a base for decor
Place decorative items on top, such as a small vase, a candle, or a sculpture. This adds height and layers to your coffee table. Keep the decor proportional to the stack—nothing too big that will cover the books entirely.
    Fan them out
Instead of stacking, you can fan out a few books. This allows the covers to be visible and gives a more relaxed, casual look.
    Mix with objects
Combine the books with other objects like trays, bowls, or plants. This gives a curated look without overwhelming the space.
If you’re looking to elevate the style of your own space or round it out with the perfect finishing touch, a curation of tomes that meets your interests and tastes is absolutely the way to go.
With eye-pleasing artwork and carefully curated pages, Emirates Woman has curated a guide of all the best coffee table books to invest in.

    Life

    by Sarah Joseph

From an uncanny resemblance to an undeniable touch of familiarity, the offsprings of these celebrities are a spitting image of their parents.
So much so, some of them could even be twins. Hence, we take a look at celebrities who have inherited their looks from their mother’s including similar mannerisms.
Emirates Woman has rounded up a list of A-listers and their lookalike kids, some of which you’ll have to do a double-take.
    Chrissy Teigen and Luna

Luna, daughter of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, is regularly seen with her A-list mum. Luna is regularly seen on her mother’s Instagram, from pool selfies to celebrating occasions, they look absolutely chic, every time they pose for the camera. The duo definitely stand out in the world of celebrities.
    Catherine Zeta-Jones and Carys Douglas

When the actress shared a breathtaking snapshot of her daughter by the beach, fans were stunned to see the resplendent features of her little one.
    Reese Witherspoon and Ava Phillippe

With a photo shared on the actresses’ Instagram page, her fans found it hard to believe the age difference and mother-daughter relationship. With this holiday-themed image breaking the internet, the duo almost look like twin sisters.
    Gwyneth Paltrow and Apple Martin

The founder of Goop and her daughter have been seen on social media numerous times, with her little one also promoting the beauty brand’s new eCommerce line while she also embarks on a career of her own. From bonding during at-home workouts to lounging under the sun, the two get along really well while we can’t get over how alike they look.
