HRH Princess Lamia receives an award for her incredible philanthropic work

Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia Bint Majid Al Saud has received a prestigious award for her incredible philanthropic work.
At the 8th Annual GCC GOV HR Summit 2020, Her Royal Highness received the People First Leader Award. It’s certainly an apt award for Princess Lamia as she’s made it her life’s mission to help others, particularly advocating for women, through her role as Secretary-General of Alwaleed Philanthropies.

Upon receiving the award, Princess Lamia shared her honour about being presented as the People First Leader.
“I am extremely honoured and humbled to be the recipient of the People First Leader Award and a special thanks to the organising committee for selecting me as the Honorary Advisory Board Member for this event,” she said.

“Every milestone I have achieved to date at Alwaleed Philanthropies is a result of the team’s collaborative work and drive to create a better future for those in need.

“Across the Middle East, we have made great strides towards supporting women and youth in the workplace. As we look to a post-pandemic world, we must continue to harness the spirit of collaboration in order to meet our collective goal; a more equal and prosperous world for all.”
Her Royal Highness has continuously made it her life’s mission to give back to others who are less fortunate than her.
“If you are fortunate enough to have access to resources or a raised platform, it is your responsibility to support and empower those who are not as fortunate,” she told Emirates Woman in an interview for September’s – ‘The Power Issue’.
Initially starting a career in journalism after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001 from Misr International University in Cairo, Princess Lamia found that through many inspiring stories she came across during her time as editor-in-chief at three publications that there was a bigger role she could play in the world.
“I was constantly inspired by the people that I spoke to, I also noticed there were so many important stories not being told,” she said. “This led to the desire to play a larger role in shining a light on untold stories, especially when it came to empowering women and youth, as well as actively tackling social, cultural and economic challenges through my work in philanthropy.”

At one-month-old Gigi Hadid’s daughter has started her designer bag collection

At just one-month-old, Gigi Hadid’s newborn daughter has already started her own designer back collection.
Over the weekend, the supermodel shared a photo of some gifts for baby Hadid-Malik which included a sweet fluffy baby grow.

What was also featured was a tiny Jacquemus Le Chiquito handbag, which was gifted to the 25-year-old new mum by the brand’s creative director Simon Porte Jacquemus.

Making the gift even more special, the supermodel was actually seen with the bag, albeit a slightly larger version, when she walked the Jacquemus show back in January, which would have likely been around the start of her pregnancy.
A couple of days prior to posting the Jacquemus gift, the new mum had penned a handwritten note which she posted to Instagram to thank everyone for their “generous gifts” following the birth of her first child.

“I just want to put out there… while I have the time, that when I do ‘thank yous’ on here, I think of the so many generous gifts we have received that haven’t gotten a public ‘thanks’,” she said.
“I am overwhelmed with how many beautiful things this little one has already been spoiled with by people I love – and I will slowly probably share them.”
Gigi welcomed her first child just over a month ago, revealing she had given birth on Instagram posting a sweet photo of new dad Zayn Malik holding the tiny hand of baby Hadid-Malik.
“Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world,” she captioned the photo. “So in love.”

8 ways to support World Vegan Day in Dubai

Today, November 1, 2020, marks annual World Vegan Day – a day which celebrates the benefits of being vegan whether that be in terms of health or the environment.
With that, here’s eight ways you can support World Vegan Day in Dubai and the UAE, whether that be through food, fashion or beauty.
    Visit a top Dubai restaurant

Enjoy the best of vegan Asian cuisine at top Dubai restaurant Shanghai Me this World Vegan Day – or for the whole of November which marks World Vegan Month. Standout vegan dishes include the steamed wild mushroom dumplings, wok tofu with salt & pepper, the salted cucumber with avocado and coriander, the aubergine salad with tomatoes and spring onion and vegetable spring rolls. Not only is the cuisine fabulous, but the ambience and interiors of the restaurant are also to die for and with its stunning terrace having recently reopened, it’s the perfect time of year to pay a visit to Shanghai Me.
    A new meal plan

In celebration of World Vegan Day and World Vegan Month, a new plant-based meal plan has launched. Say hello to Root’D. Packed with clean nutrients, there are three different plans available and over 45 meal options, meaning there’s something for everyone. The plans are specifically curated to help customers achieve overall health, improve digestion and positively impact their lives both physically and mentally.
    A free vegan dessert

Just because it’s vegan cuisine, doesn’t mean you can’t indulge. To mark World Vegan Day, Wavebreaker Beach Restaurant & Grill at Hilton Dubai will be offering its signature vegan salted caramel crème brûlée for free when restaurant-goers order any main dish from their plant-based selection on the menu.
    Complimentary corn fritters

If you fancy some Thai cuisine on World Vegan Day, Fuchsia Urban Thai will be giving away a complimentary serving of corn fritters for each vegan item – there’s over 25 to choose from – which is ordered from their menu.
    A new vegan menu

Instagrammable breakfast spot Brunch & Cake has unveiled a new plant-based menu to mark World Vegan Day and any customers who order off the new vegan menu will receive a complimentary slice of vegan cheesecake. Yum!
    Vegan makeup brushes

Ethical and sustainable beauty has never been more popular or important, which is why now is the perfect time to invest in some vegan, cruelty-free, responsibly sourced makeup brushes. Earlier this year, UAE-based beauty brand the odist launched 10 new makeup brushes which took two years to develop and include three high-performing vegan hair types, each designed to work with specific makeup textures and formulas that out-perform natural hair. The brushes are responsibly sourced and designed to last up to a decade if maintained properly. A one-off investment on odist’s sustainable makeup tools will prevent a number of non-sustainable brushes inevitably ending up in a landfill.
    Il Passaggio

For some amazing Mediterranean-inspired vegan cuisine, head to Il Passaggio this World Vegan Day by enjoying the selection of vegan dishes this Dubai-based restaurant has to offer. Enjoy dishes which include Panzenela which features croutons, red onion, capers, cherry tomato, mint leaves, basil, salt and black pepper; quinoa salad which features avocado, cherry tomatoes, organic peach, rocca leaves, hazelnut, sun-dried cranberries and passionfruit dressing; or bruschetta which features roma tomatoes and onions on freshly baked bread.
    Vegan Christmas treat

Get in the Christmas spirit early with some new plant-based vegan treats from Marks & Spencer. The new range contains a wide variety of meat and dairy-free treats that are certain to delight both vegans and non-vegans alike – from indulgent chocolate truffles and mince pies, to easy appetisers and stunning side dishes for Christmas itself.

Gigi Hadid shares first family photo with Zayn Malik and their newborn daughter

It’s been just over one month since Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik welcomed their first child together – a baby girl.
Throughout her pregnancy, the supermodel kept a largely low profile and has done the same since welcoming her daughter, only showing a few discreet photos and keeping her name under wraps.

However, the 25-year-old has now shared the first Hadid-Malik family photo in celebration of Halloween.
“My first Halloween,” Gigi captioned the family snap. The whole family were dressed up in costumes. Gigi was dressed up as Samus Aran from the video game Metroid, Zayn was a member of Slytherin House from the popular book and movie series Harry Potter and little baby Hadid-Malik was dressed as The Hulk, with some help from some GIFs Gigi added into the Instagram story.

While it’s the first family photo she has shared, Gigi kept her daughter’s face hidden. Up until now, we had only seen glimpses of the newborn’s hand.
Gigi welcomed her first child just over a month ago, revealing she had given birth on Instagram posting a sweet photo of new dad Zayn holding the tiny hand of baby Hadid-Malik.
“Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world,” she captioned the photo. “So in love.”

According to E! News, the name of baby Hadid-Malik, which has been kept private by the couple, is “unique” but an alleged source wouldn’t give anything else away.
Gigi’s pregnancy was first reported on back in April. The model first spoke of her pregnancy – news which was revealed in the press and not by Gigi or Zayn – during a video call appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, admitting they would have liked to reveal the news on their “own terms”, but also thanked everyone for their congratulations.
“Obviously, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support,” she said.
Zayn and Gigi originally started dating in 2016, and have been on-and-off ever since, with their latest split taking place in mid-2019. However, the pair reunited earlier this year, but have been keeping their romance away from the public glare.

The UAE has ranked in the top 10 safest countries in the world

The UAE has ranked in the top 10 safest countries in the world.

In a new report conducted by research and analytics organisation Gallup entitled the 2020 Global Law and Order report, the UAE ranked number 10 in the list of safest countries.
Topping the list was Singapore, followed by Turkmenistan, China, Iceland, another GCC country, Kuwait, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, Uzbekistan, then followed by the UAE.
The report gathered data from a whopping 144 countries to check how safe people feel in the place they call home. While the UAE had an incredible score of 92, Singapore aced the list with 97 points.
The data was gathered from 144 countries globally, and the index score calculations were based on a series of questions which included the public’s confidence in police; whether they felt safe walking home at nice; whether anyone had had something stolen in the last year; and whether in the last 12 months if they had been assaulted or mugged.
In a breakdown of the categories, the UAE ranked number four on the ‘Countries Where People Feel Safest Walking Alone’ list.
Again, Singapore came out on top, followed by Turkmenistan, Norway, the UAE, China, Kuwait, Slovenia, Tajikstan, Denmark and Saudi Arabia.
