In-line with regulations
Etihad Airways has had to push back the planned resumption of passenger services due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
While the Abu Dhabi airline had planned to relaunch some passenger flights on May 1, this has now been pushed back by at least two weeks, with flights resuming on May 16 at the earliest.
In a statement issued by the airline, Etihad confirmed they were working in line with government authorities.
“Working closely with the UAE Government and Global Aviation Authorities, our aim is to gradually return to a fuller schedule as soon as it is safe for us to do so, but for now, our flights remain suspended until 16 May,” the statement on their website reads.
In an additional statement to a spokesperson confirmed the change in the resumption of flights was made “subject to UAE government-imposed travel restrictions being lifted”.
“This decision is being taken early to avoid potential disruption to customers wishing to travel during that period, and for their safety and well-being,” the spokesperson’s statement added.
The airline is currently offering one-way flights out of Abu Dhabi in order to repatriate visitors and UAE residents to their home countries. Emirates Airline is offering similar repatriation flights out of Dubai.
