Saudi Arabia lifts curfew and resumes all commercial activities

Saudi Arabia has now lifted its curfew across all regions, per an announcement made on Saturday.

As of 6am today, June 21, the curfew was lifted, but other restrictions remain in place in order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Along with the announcement, Saudi authorities also confirmed all economic and commercial activities would resume in the Kingdom.

However, restrictions on international travel and religious pilgrimages are still in place.

Just like the UAE, Saudi Arabia has guidelines in place for social distancing and wearing face masks while out in public.

In other guidelines that have been issued by the ministry, according to Gulf News, a senior official stated that gatherings are permitted, but not exceed 50 people.

The lifting of the imposed curfews in Saudi Arabia comes after the Kingdom reinstated a lockdown period in Jeddah two weeks ago. Prior to today, residents were required to stay home for 15 hours a day between the hours of 3pm and 6am.

To date, 154,233 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Saudi Arabia – 98,971 of those have recovered and there have been 1,230 deaths.
