It may be hard to believe but the UAE summer season only officially starts today

While the sweltering and humid heat hit the UAE a fair few weeks ago, summer has only just officially begun.

As of today, June 21, summer is here – and it’ll be here for the next three months, according to an expert from the National Centre of Meteorology, the reports.

“According to meteorology, summer will start in the UAE on June 21,” the expert said. “The timing is decided based on where the sun is positioned, which is astronomy. It is the time when the sun will be perpendicular to the equator.”

Today also marks the longest day of the year, which coincidentally coincided with the solar eclipse which took place this morning. However, these two events are unrelated.

So, get ready for a long summer of temperatures well into the high 40s, which will last until approximately September 23.

“In July and August, the temperature will be in the range of 42 to 46 degrees Celsius across the UAE, with a maximum of 49 degrees,” the expert said.

To combat the heat you can be rest assured you’ll find us permanently by the pool this summer, luckily there’s plenty of offers around Dubai to help with that.

And while many probably had summer trips planned to escape the scorching heat, not all is lost. Why not opt for a staycation instead? It’s not the same thing, but at least it can offer a slight change of scenery from home life, giving everyone a break they all deserve.
