Everything We Know About the 2020 Nordstrom Sale

If we had to rank our favorite holidays, it would go: Christmas, Halloween, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale got its reputation for being the sale of the year for one major reason: everything that’s discounted is a brand-new arrival. It isn’t picking through rack’s of last season’s pieces picking things up that you won’t be able to wear until next year; it’s next season’s pieces (fall and winter) that were all just released.
Usually the sale takes place in July, but this year, it’s happening this month (and we’re not mad at it because it just means we’re one month closer to being able to wear our purchases!). The preview is out, the sale is nearing, and we’re breaking down everything you need to know to snag your dream pieces for 2020.

    When is it?
Usually, the sale opens up to Nordstrom Cardholders, followed by the public. But this year, it’s broken down based on Nordstrom Card status (what you spend in a year). The opening dates are as follows:
August 4: Icon access (cardholders that spend $15,000+ per year)
August 7: Ambassador access (cardholders that spend $5,000+ per year)
August 10: Influencer access (cardholders that spend $2,000+ per year)
August 13: Insider access (all Nordstrom cardholders)
    August 18: Public access
The sale will run through Sunday, August 30th.

    How can I shop it?
This year’s sale is obviously also different in the fact that, yes, there is a pandemic happening, which puts a wrench in rushing to the store to shop amongst large crowds.
Nordstrom has reopened their stores to the public with extra precautions that protect both shoppers and employees. They’re also offering safe, contactless curbside pickup for online orders.
If you don’t feel comfortable physically going to a store, as always, the entire sale will be available online and orders are shipped directly to you.

    What’s on sale?
Just about everything—coats, top, boots, bras, activewear—are available; all from brands we love like Madewell, Topshop, Vince, Adidas, and more. Nordstrom took it upon itself to also offer more picks for our recent situations, which include a lot more lounging and a lot less dressing up for work. The best part, though? The more business-casual picks are all timeless enough that they can be worn year after year.
Beyond clothes, there are incredible shoes, accessories, and beauty items (some of which are created exclusively for the event) on sale.
You can preview the entire sale now—but these are some of the things we already have on our wish lists. More

40 Things Our Editors Bought and Loved From Amazon

I have placed no less than 4,827 Amazon orders since March. OK so maybe that estimate is on the dramatic side, but what do you expect from me? I never leave the house anymore and my melodrama must be inflicted on someone. Other than waiting for Brad Goreski to release a new housewives TikTok, I spend my afternoons looking forward to what packages will arrive that I can douse in disinfecant and enjoy once they air dry. If you’ve also given up on that sourdough starter and made endlessly scrolling Amazon a quarantine hobby, you’re in luck. I polled my fellow editors to see what purchases they’ve made (and loved) these past few months. Here’s the best of the best, from our carts to yours.

    4-Piece Tank Set

I bought these tanks on a whim one day after feeling like I had no tops to work out in—and boy, am I glad I did. These are more cotton than a sweat-wicking workout material, but they are so flattering and are all I’ve worn since I got them. Even when I’m not exercising in them I’ve had days where I throw one on with a pair of denim shorts and call it a day. These are maybe my favorite Amazon find I’ve had this year. (They also come in other color packs).

    Cat-Eye Sunglasses

I ordered these because I wanted a pair of inexpensive sunglasses I could toss in my bag and not worry too deeply about, and I can honestly say these are as good of quality as some of the much more expensive sunglasses I have. They’re the perfect size and are so flattering and I’ve been reaching for them more than any other sunglasses I own.

    Starbucks Syrup Set

I like my coffee sweet and I’m not ashamed of it. My go-to Starbucks order is an iced coffee with two pumps of vanilla, so I ordered these when Starbucks was closed to try to get my fix. Now, I keep a jug of Starbuck’s iced coffee in my fridge, add a splash of one of these, and it’s identical to going and getting my order there (and is a lot less expensive).

    Turkish Towel

I wanted a cuter towel to have on hand for picnics and sitting by the lake, but was shocked to discover most Turkish towels are very, very expensive. This one is soft, cute, and absolutely does the job—plus it comes in about a million colors.

    Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker

When I went to Cuba a couple of years ago, I noticed my casa host only made her coffee with a Moka Pot. For some reason I could never remember to purchase one, but once we started to shelter in place, I made my investment. I love using this because it’s not instant. Making coffee is a morning ritual that I look forward to, and you are guaranteed a caffeine jolt when using this. I use it to make an Americano so that I get the caffeine kick without the jitters.

    Lightweight Gold Hoop Earrings

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with gold jewelry, and a pair of gold hoops never goes out of style. I like these because they’re lightweight and hypoallergenic. The pair also make for a simple accessory you can pop on before a Zoom meeting to feel a little more put together.

    10+ colors available
    Cotton Pullover Sport Bra Pack

I think I’m done with bras—or at least bras with underwire. I love these because they’re cotton, and most of the time, I forget I’m wearing any form of support. I also like to pair these with my high-waisted sweatpants for a cute, comfy at-home look.

    Personalized Gold Initial Ring

I am usually not a ring person, mainly because I can’t keep up with them. But, I love the stackable, gold ring trend I see everywhere. These pair well with my press-ons and make my hands look pretty. Since they’re adjustable, you don’t have to know your ring size, and so far, they haven’t turned my fingers green or tarnished—even with all of my hand washing.

    Shiatsu Back Massager

I’ve never been one to buy gadgets or things of the like—but someone suggested this when I complained of a kink in my neck. I saw it had almost 10,000 five-star reviews and was $49, so figured what do I have to lose?! It’s. The. Bomb. I use it constantly! Even during work hours at my desk. My husband and I fight over who gets it at night. Most of my family members have now bought it. I’ll be getting it as a Christmas gift for anyone else who hasn’t bought it yet! Can’t recommend enough!

    14 colors available
    Retro Polarized Cateye Sunglasses

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never been particularly into sunglasses, but I knew that would change this summer when I started reading on my rooftop deck basically every day as the sun blazed down on me in quite the vigorous fashion. So, I stocked up on inexpensive pairs—and of course, they had to be a little out there. I found these with the intention of looking like Bridget Bardot knowing I was getting bangs in a few weeks, and they do their job quite well. If you have a smaller face, they’ll probably fit you perfectly; my face gets the widest at my temples, but they’re not uncomfortably tight in any way. 10/10 for me, and I get compliments on them everywhere I go. Yes, if you’re wondering, I think I was a Leo in another life.

    Clear Phone Case

After living with a phone that couldn’t make calls without headphones and stopped connecting to the Internet and couldn’t make Instagram stories (can you tell I’m justifying this absolutely wild purchase to myself—the girl who shudders at paying $30 for a top), I upgraded to a new phone and immediately bought a clear case because I play with my phone like a juggler. I read tons of reviews on this case, and they are all correct: it’s without a doubt the best clear case I have ever put on my phone, and it’s less than $15. It doesn’t fall off (it feels really snug on my phone), is raised so the screen never touches the ground if it’s dropped, hasn’t turned yellow on me, and it just looks good. I could go on. This brand has cases for basically every single phone on the market, so you’re bound to find one that fits yours too!

    Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman
The Daily Stoic Journal: 366 Days of Writing and Reflection on the Art of Living

I’m a big philosophy nerd (it was my major in college for approximately two months freshman year), so I was stoked to find this guided journal that taps into Stoic philosophy, but in a modern, comprehensive way. I use this genius little journal with guided prompts as a meditation every morning and night, and I swear it has helped my stay-at-home anxiety.

    Foam Roller

I’ve always had tight hip flexors that hurt after every single ab exercise or uphill walk (which is a bummer since I currently live on a steep hill and have to walk uphill to get to the grocery store). My doctor recommended I try foam rolling (a huge wellness trend I have not gotten on board with previously), and honestly the practice has made my whole body feel better after just a couple days. It came at a good time because my back and hips have felt tighter than ever before (probably because either A. I’m getting old, or B. I’ve been doing nothing for four months except sit on the couch and watch “Riverdale.”) It truly has transformed how my body feels.

    Extra Brite Baking Soda Toothpowder

I’ve tried just about every teeth-whitening product Amazon has to offer (curse my coffee addiction, sensitive teeth that can’t deal with WhiteStrips, and my inability to budget for expensive treatments!). This baking soda powder is truly life-changing. Not only is it inexpensive, lasts forever, and gentle for teeth, but it has made a huge difference in the brightness of my smile. I finally feel like one of those women in the toothpaste ads (and I just can’t stop smiling!).

    8 colors available
    Soft Henley Sweater

When I saw this $10 sweater in the men’s section of Amazon, I felt like I had found the perfect cozy top I’d been in search of. It is truly the perfect cozy Henley, is 100 percent cotton, and is adorable styled with a front tuck into ripped denim or joggers. I ordered it originally in grey and went back for the black because it just that awesome, and you can’t beat the price and quality.

    10+ colors available
    Watch Band

I have been buying this brand of Apple Watch bands for several years now. The greige is my latest addition and it’s such a great neutral for summer. The wrap band is very comfortable, the genuine leather quality is amazing, and it holds up well to my workout abuse.

    Makeup Mirror

My husband and I share our bathroom that has a single sink, so early in our marriage I knew creating a makeup space outside of the bathroom would be key if we were ever going to get anywhere in a fast fashion. I recently upgraded my mirror situation to this compact, portable, light-up mirror that features different light settings and magnification levels. The light settings avoid ever leaving without fully blended face makeup, as you can see any uneven tones.

    Tortoise Glasses

I ordered a set of these a couple of years ago and recently added a second set to be our primary drinking glasses. They are hand blown and each has its own unique look. They are thick but light, dishwasher safe, and really add something special to any table setting or daily meal.

    5 colors available
    Running Shorts

It has been crazy hot here in New England this summer, and casual shorts have become a daily staple for me. I love the liner inside these and the fact that they have pockets. The waistband is very forgiving and is actually smoothing vs. bulge inducing. I picked them up in the pink color but would buy again in more shades.

    Headband 6 Pack

Whenever the heat of summer really starts to fire up, my brain makes an instant switch to fall mode. With more time at home and simpler outfits on the horizon, I love how these fall hued/textured headbands can dress up any simple look and make me feel a bit more put together, even at home!

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer And Styler

Being a Black woman with coarse, tightly-curled hair, I usually never trust products that claim to work on all hair types, but this handy blow dryer might be the exception. This hair dryer is made for those who struggle with doing their own hair, as it’s made to be used on your hair like a regular brush, keeping your hair tangle-free. This hair dryer is great for Women of Color who have natural hair too, as the handle and the big bristles help you move through your hair with less effort than a regular blow dryer that typically just rakes through.

    Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo

Working from home for the foreseeable future, I wasn’t prepared to hover over my laptop’s keyboard and touchpad five days a week. This is where a wireless keyboard and mouse comes in handy. This set comes with a USB connection for the wireless mouse and an easy wireless Bluetooth-enabled keyboard that connects to your computer effortlessly. This is the perfect combo if you have more than one monitor too!

No Mo-Stache Portable Lip Waxing Kit

After months of not being able to maintain my monthly beauty routine due to social distancing (which included visits to my favorite esthetician), I had to take matters into my own hands, starting with facial hair removal. This waxing kit comes with cute step-by-step instructions and hypoallergenic waxing strips that are easy to put on and take off for the upper lip, and even a small tube of post-waxing aloe cream to smooth out any irritation. Definitely a staple for me in between waxing appointments!

    16 colors available
    Women’s Wire-Free Contour Bra

If you’re looking for a bra that doesn’t feel like one, this is it. Wearing this bra feels just as satisfying as not wearing one. It’s lightweight, so soft, and literally feels like a cloud. You need it!

    Radha Beauty Rosehip Oil

I’ve been struggling with my acne scaring for quite some time now, and after trying what feels like everything, I think I found the missing piece of my routine: rosehip oil. It’s cleared my acne scaring faster than any other product I’ve used. For the oily ladies, it does not feel greasy, which was a major plus for me. I put it on every morning and night, and all summer, I’ve been rocking the no-makeup look because of it.

    16 colors available
    Biker Shorts

Bike shorts, an oversized tee, and my sneakers have been my go-to outfit lately. I’ve been on the hunt for a perfect pair—one that doesn’t slide up, is opaque, and lasts without tearing apart (as I wear them an average five times a week). This pair checks all those marks and more. You also can’t beat the price for this quality and durability.

    Hair Scalp Massager Shampoo Brush

I know a few people who have one of these and swear by it, so I knew that I needed to get on the bandwagon. They’re so great if you have a naturally dry scalp or have shampoo build-up. And as a bonus, it gives you the feeling of a salon shampoo!

    Rechargeable Fabric Shaver

I bought this because I had some pilling on my couch, but now I want to use it on every piece of clothing I own. It is truly the handiest gadget that you never knew you needed.

    10+ colors available
    Dual Pocket Yoga Shorts

I absolutely love these shorts. They are so comfortable, flattering, and have a massive pocket for your cell phone. Even if you’re part of the anti-bike-shorts crowd, you should buy these because they will convert you on comfort alone.

    Pedicure Tool

This item should come with a warning label. It works almost too well and I could easily see someone causing lasting damage to their body. But if you’re careful and in desperate need of a pedicure, this will be your new BFF.

    36 Grid Organizer

I never considered myself much of a “jewelry person,” but what I’ve learned is that it’s all about merchandising what you have. Instead of endlessly digging through a drawer to find a pair of earrings, I organized all my jewelry into these boxes. Now everything is easily accessible and displayed so I always know exactly what I have. I find myself wearing the pieces I have so much more. Even if it’s just with a T-shirt around the house, wearing accessories gives me some semblance of normalcy and a feeling of being put-together. My dry shampoo consumption says otherwise, but balance, amiright?

    DripDrop Dehydration Relief

Cocktail hour at home is one of my new favorite quarantine rituals, but this old gal doesn’t recover like she used to. Yes, two glasses of wine will leave me restless, exhausted, and with a slight headache the next morning. This is 30. Or this is a sign I need smaller wine glasses.
Then these miracle packets came into my life and changed everything. Just drop one in a glass of water before bed and you’ll be hitting “subscribe” in no time. Trust me. When I’m not polishing off a bottle of red, I like to use them after an intense workout.

    6 colors available
    Jogger Pants with Pockets

These are made of yoga-pant material and a pretty close dupe to the Athleta joggers that I spent way too much money on.

    Reusable Makeup Remover Pads

It’s embarrassing to admit that, although we’ve gotten rid of the majority of one-use products in our house, I was still using 2-3 disposable cotton pads a day on my face. This time, when I ran out of those rounds, I resisted re-buying and instead chose these washable, 100 percent organic bamboo cotton rounds. The transition has been seamless, and the included laundry bag is perfect for keeping them all together while washing.

    7 colors available
    Square Cateye Sunglasses

I’m a budget sunglasses junkie. Though I own a couple of “nice” pairs of sunnies, those hardly get any use in my day-to-day existence. With two kids and a busy life, I need eye protection that is both chic and easily replaceable. These sunglasses definitely make the cut; they’re sturdy enough to be thrown around in my bag, car, stroller, etc. and stylish enough to fit well and look as if they cost more than they do.

    5 colors available
    Pajama Set

I’ll be honest: this is the first pajama set I’ve ever owned (not including matching holiday jammies). I’ve always been quite content with my gym shorts and tee combo, but there’s nothing like a global pandemic to make the voices inside whisper “your sleepwear needs an upgrade.” These are under $20 and are SO soft, cute, and comfortable—I finally understand the pajama set hype.

    2 colors available
    Ladder-Style Bookcase

This shelf was a necessary purchase only because I stress bought so many plants online at the beginning of quarantine to soothe my soul and then had no where to put them. Normal, right? Fortunately, I didn’t have to blow the budget on this sturdy, easy-to-assemble shelf to house them all. It looks great in the corner of our dining room and matches our mostly natural wood furniture perfectly.

    Havaianas Slim Flip Flop

The second summer hits, I’m a total flip-flop girl and proud of it. Especially now that I’m spending so much time at home, these are my go-tos to throw on for quick coffee runs, hanging by the pool, and for walks around the block. This pair is really comfortable (I love the slim straps!) and the price is great for the quality.

    Curtis Sittenfeld
    Rodham: A Novel

I was so excited for this book to come out that I ordered it right away and could not put it down. It’s a fictional take on Hillary Clinton’s life if she didn’t marry Bill Clinton. Yes, they still date in law school just like their real-life story, but after they break up, Hillary’s life takes on a whole reimagined path into politics. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun new read!

Paint by Numbers Kits for Adults

I bought one of these paint-by-number kits back in March for a quarantine activity and it did not disappoint, so much so that I just purchased another one to keep me busy this fall/winter when the weather gets cold again. The kit has everything you need, and the end result is a really large and pretty floral print that I’m actually planning to frame and hang in my apartment. More

27 Lightweight Jumpsuits That Feel Like Pajamas but Make You Look Put-Together

I’m going to be honest: I’ve had it with my work-from-home wardrobe. Every morning when I wake up and put on yet another pair of running shorts paired with a T-shirt while side-eying the things I wore in my former life (read: five months ago), a little part of me dies. But no matter how hard I try, I just cannot get myself to wear things that aren’t comfortable—it’s a true catch-22.This conundrum led me to a groundbreaking, recent discovery: a black, cotton jumpsuit I had hiding at the back of my closet. I stumbled upon it on an unsuspecting Tuesday morning, threw it on, and felt like I had just won the lottery. It’s the true equivalent to a pair of pajamas, but looks and feels like I’m wearing a real outfit—even though I only had to put one thing on my body. When I say I’ve worn it almost every day since, I mean it.
While we’re sitting on our couches from now until who knows when, we might as well be doing it feeling as confident as possible—and comfortable jumpsuits are the answer to that. Buy these now, and thank me later.

9 Things to Do This Summer (on a Budget)

Maybe this isn’t exactly the summer we had in mind (read: canceled vacations and closed beaches), but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of this year. Because you deserve the very best that the season has to offer, we’ve partnered with Gilt City to bring you major discounts on all of our summer favs that can be enjoyed from the comfort (and safety) of your own home.Gilt City is an online shopping and lifestyle website that offers insider-level access to major deals on experiences in your area, top brands, and beyond. To quote Norah Jones, “it’s summertime, and the livin’ is easy.” Oh yeah, and it’s majorly discounted too. Read on for nine things to do this summer, and check out Gilt City for our favorite brands and experiences at a lower price.

So you’re wearing flip-flops and open-toe sandals more than booties, and you can no longer hide a bad manicure or chipped polish behind gloves and mittens. Painted and groomed nails are as essential for summer as a cute swimsuit and a faux tan, but they’re not always easy to maintain. Not only is painting your nails at home more affordable, but it’ll be safer this summer as well. Thanks to Gilt City, you can score major deals on high-end nail care brands that will leave your fingers and toes looking pretty all season long. Try MiniLuxe Nail Kits for up to 42 percent off nail kits, or Deborah Lippmann for 50 percent off nail treatments, colors, and more.

Fall fashion is fun (the plaid!), but I’m partial to summer clothes. Light fabrics, effortless styles, and pretty colors make this season’s clothing chic without having to try too hard. Revamp your 2020 summer wardrobe with crisp basics, lightweight shorts, and pretty dresses you can throw on (because the hardest decision you make all day should be whether to have a glass of rosé or an Aperol Spritz, not what to wear). We love Joules for effortless styles and summer basics, and thanks to Gilt City, you can get 40 percent off full-price items (yes, really!), and an extra 20 percent off of sale items. Revamping your summer wardrobe with the best items of the season doesn’t have to break the bank.

I love coffee as much as the next girl, but there’s something about warmer weather that motivates me to fuel my body with only the best. Instead of reaching for the second cup of coffee or an afternoon americano (which comes with coffee jitters and caffeine crashes), I’ve been opting for matcha, which is a powder made of concentrated green tea leaves. You get the boost of energy without crashes or jitters, plus up to 33 percent off MatchaBar with one of the packages from Gilt City.

The #1 most Instagrammed accessory of summer? A pool float. Whether you’re booking a weekend away at a nearby lake or you’re lounging by your aunt’s backyard pool more often than you’re in your own home, a pool float that’s as cute as your swimsuit is a necessity. Try the Giant Swan Float that went more viral than the “Renegade” Dance on TikTok, or the Seashell Float that helps you live out your wildest The Little Mermaid fantasies. Get up to 43 percent off fashion girls’ favorite pool floats and accessories at #GETFLOATY when you purchase through Gilt City.

Sure, wine tastings are fun and cheese boards are always a crowd-pleaser, but if you want to really impress your friends, host a dessert tasting instead (yes, I did get this idea from Kyle Richards’s infamous party on season 7 of RHOBH). Not only is it fun, different, and creative, but who doesn’t love desserts? Give the people what they want and surprise your significant other with gourmet versions of their favorites, or have a few friends over for some cake and chill. Using Gilt City, you can score up to 36 percent off award-winning sweets from Mini Melanie, shipped to your door (be warned: the Oreo Sprinkles Cookie Cake will make you drool).

Summer means more energy and longer days. With all the extra time you have after the workday is over, turn off the TV (sorry, Netflix!) and tap into your creative side. Michaels is our go-to store for everything you need to make a scrapbook for your college roommate’s bridal shower present or to get materials to try out a free sketching class on Youtube. Gilt City is conveniently offering 25 percent off any online purchase (available for delivery or curbside pick up). With a discount and easy delivery (or pick up), there’s no excuse to keep putting off that mood board you’ve been telling yourself you’ll start or picking up a new hobby like painting.

One of the best parts of the season is fresher, brighter flowers, so why not make the most of summer by buying yourself a pretty bouquet (because self-love is a good enough reason for any indulgence). Plus, a fresh bouquet of your favorite peonies or sunflowers will not only freshen up your home and show off your style personality, but it will feel like a little extra luxury (and you deserve it!). Get up to 35 percent off bouquets from Bouqs when you order online through Gilt City. Plus, a major bonus for our Everygirl brides: you can also score almost $100 off towards any wedding floral package.

Laundry is a chore, but upgrading to the right products can make it feel more like a luxury. With better options (and insane discounts), you no longer have to settle for laundry care that’s bad for the planet or bad for your skin. The Laundress has been saving us from dry cleaning prices and stains on delicate fabrics (like cashmere and silk) for years, and Gilt City is offering 40 percent off their eco-friendly detergent and laundry care. This season is the perfect time to freshen up bed sheets, wash the linen pants and swimsuits you never get around to dry cleaning, and turn laundry into a luxury (all while being friendly to the environment). Win, win!

Winter is meant for cozy accessories, warm throw blankets, and lit candles. Summer, however, is the perfect time for brightening up the home with fun accessories and bold colors. Make the most of the season by adding a standout piece or two that will draw a whole lot of attention and revamp your space. And what’s brighter and bolder than a trendy neon sign? Name Glo is a go-to for high-quality custom designs and Insta-worthy accessories (my personal favorite is the Mini Stand “Yes”). Yes, they’re investment pieces, but only at Gilt City can you get them for 50% off. I mean, can you even resist a deal this good!?

This post was in partnership with Gilt City, but all of the opinions within are those of The Everygirl editorial board. More

10 Items to Wear When It’s Over 90 Degrees (But You Still Want to Look Cute)

I don’t know how it happened so quickly (I’m still confidently writing “May” as the current date), but we’re officially nearing the end of summer, when faux tans are flawless, swimsuits are in constant rotation, and the temperatures are hot (like fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk kind of hot). Since we can’t always stay at home with our head in the freezer and still want to look cute for Zoom meetings, errand-running, or socially-distanced hangouts, we have some tricks up our sleeves to look cute when the temperatures start soaring. Here are 10 of our go-to items to wear when it’s way too hot to wear anything else.
    1. A breezy skirt

    Source: Wait You Need This

When it’s so hot that you start sweating the second you step outside, you might feel tempted to go for shorts again. However, a breezy, loose skirt is not only a little more airy and cool than a pair of shorts, but will look even chicer. Pair with any tee and your go-to sandals.

    2. Overall shorts

    Source: @accordingtomandy

If your denim cut-offs have been worn every day for the past two weeks and you’re lacking style inspiration, switch to a pair of overall shorts instead (it also doubles as a super cute bathing suit cover-up). Bonus tip: when it’s even too hot for a tee, try a sports bra or crop top underneath. All the cool kids are doing it!

    Abercrombie & Fitch
    Beachy Romper

3 colors available and 30% off!

    3. A graphic tee

    Source: @gabrielegz

Graphic tees are not only in style but are a timeless staple in the wardrobes of cool girls everywhere (and will be a way bigger upgrade from your typical basic tee). Style it tucked into denim shorts with a thick belt and your chunkiest booties for an outfit that’s as cool (literally) as it is edgy.

    4. Statement earrings

    Source: @missalexlarosa

You know when it’s so hot that you need to put your hair up in a ponytail or a bun just to survive the heat? A pair of really chic statement earrings will make the updo look like a style choice, rather than a there’s-so-much-sweat-on-my-neck-it’s-not-OK kind of choice.

    5. Culotte Jumpsuit

When you don’t feel like shaving your legs (because we all have those days), the answer to wardrobe conundrums on the hottest of days is an of-the-moment jumpsuit with flared, cropped pants. Wear with strappy heels for a dressed-up look, or sandals for a daytime affair.

    6. Crop top

I know what you’re thinking: crop tops!? I haven’t worn one of those since my last frat darty! But hear me out. Crop tops are no longer reserved for college freshmen and Britney Spears superfans who never left the 2000s. Crop tops are ladylike, stylish, and mature. Oh, and they’re perfect for staying cool in hot weather. To rock the trend in a more grown-up way, pair with high-waisted shorts, pants, or midi skirts, and keep the neckline on the higher side.

    7. Lightweight button-up

A long-sleeve might not be the first thing that pops in your head when you walk outside and think, oh sh*t–it is freaking hot. However, a button-up in a lightweight fabric like cotton or satin might be better at hiding pit stains than typical T-shirts (just saying!). Tie it up, roll the sleeves, and wear with a pair of shorts for the easiest, breeziest outfit ever.

    8. Long sundress

    Source: @petiteelliee

What do you wear on a socially-distanced date or a backyard barbecue when it’s 90 degrees outside? You don’t want to sweat too much (duh), and you also want to look good without, IDK, passing out. The answer, of course, is a breezy, flowy, sundress. Shorter mini-skirts are typically tighter, and therefore more restrictive. A flowy dress that hits at the knees or goes to midi length will not only allow for more air circulation (super important when thigh chaffing is at risk, AKA the case for the vast majority of human women), but will look pretty for any occasion.

    9. Linen Pants

    Source: @missenocha

There’s something about linen that reminds me of luxurious summer vacations in the South of France or the coast of Italy (not that I frequent there, but I’d imagine I’d wear linen pants if I did). Linen is perfect for summer because it’s a lightweight fabric that absorbs sweat. Wear with a tee or over your bathing suit as a chic cover-up.

    10. Embellished sandals

    Source: Hello Fashion

When all else fails and it’s so hot that you can only manage throwing on a tank and denim cut-offs, no worries: statement sandals have your back. No matter what you’re wearing up top, a pair of sandals with a bold print, embellishments, or seasonal fringe will show off your style.

12 Trends LA Girls Are Wearing While Staying At Home This Summer

If there’s any city to look to for style inspo when you’ve been wearing leggings and a T-shirt for the past five months, it’s Los Angeles. Of course, it is the city that is home to every Kardashian and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast, but it’s also the city that has nailed the effortless-but-trendy and relaxed vibe that’s so iconic to southern California. There’s no vibe better when you cannot be bothered to wear pants, but you’re tired of having both nighttime and daytime pajamas. Here are 12 trends that the ladies of Los Angeles are wearing, even while staying at home this season:
    1. Boyfriend Bermuda Shorts

Sorry Daisy Duke: while short shorts will always be a staple in our summer wardrobes, the it-denim of summer 2020 is knee-length, distressed, and slightly baggy. It’s like mom jeans, except warm-weather appropriate. Wear yours with a fitted tank to balance out the bagginess, or a feminine floral to make them more fashion-forward than grungy.

    2. Silky Pieces

By now, you’re probably over your sweatsuits and basic tees, and you need something a little lighter than fleece or cashmere. The fix? Silky pieces that look as luxe on Instagram or Zoom calls as they are comfortable to lounge in all day. There’s a reason it was a go-to for Elizabeth Taylor: wearing silk is the next best thing to wearing nothing at all.

    3. Neon Colors

Summer is always the season where we pull out our brightest colors, but this summer, we need an even brighter boost. Neons are no longer just for accessories or details; LA girls are doing bright colors from head to toe. Think citrus shades, neon accents, and electric combos.

    4. Ribbed Dress

Call it the athleisure trend or call it the stay-at-home order, but everybody is wearing ribbed. The ribbed tank took over our Instagram feeds, ribbed knit became the unofficial hero of 2020, and now, the comfy fabric has made its way into our summer wardrobe with easy, breezy, fitted dresses.

    5. Pajama Sets

For all of you Everygirls that could never get enough of a good pajama set, good news: they’re still going strong. Trade your flannel for more stylish and seasonal fabrics like jersey, cotton, or linen. Oh, and if you really want to do PJs like an LA girl? Pair with your favorite bling (no one would ever guess that you woke up like this).

    6. Head-to-Toe White

Fashion bloggers and style stars are so obsessed with white this season, I’m predicting the all-white trend will extend past Labor Day (screw the rules!). Try mixing off-white or cream with stark white, or wearing all of your coziest white pieces at once (trust me, it’s a fool-proof formula).

    7. A Puff-Sleeved Blouse

Even if your version of “getting dressed” meant joggers and a T-shirt for the past five months, it’s never a little too late to spruce up your work-from-home (or grocery-shopping) uniform with an of-the-moment trend. Trade your typical tee for a puffed-sleeve version, and you’re Instagram-ready.

    8. Feminine Florals

Florals? For spring (I mean, summer)? Groundbreaking. Miranda Priestly may not think it’s revolutionary, but women in LA are still rocking summer’s favorite print from the comfort of their own home. Luckily for us, floral prints are as pretty, bright, and comfortable as ever.

    9. One-Shoulder Dress

OK, so what do you wear when you want to look like you have your sh*t together up top (like say, for a Zoom meeting), but can’t be bothered to be anything but comfortable on the bottom? That’s right: a flowy, one-shoulder dress. Plus, you’ll look hella chic when hosting your friends for a socially-distanced barbecue.

    10. Shoulder Pads

The ’80s are back, but this time they’re way more practical. A relaxed tee with a shoulder pad has been worn by so many it-girls, it’s basically the item of the season. Of course, that’s wonderfully convenient since it’s just as comfortable as the old camp T-shirt you’ve been wearing for days now (yep, I see you).

    11. Knotted detail

When in doubt, make a knot. No, that’s not a sailor’s motto; it’s wardrobe advice (OK, yeah, that was cheesy). Fashion girls everywhere are knotting their tops (and skirts!) to add more interesting detail to an otherwise simple outfit. Buy a knotted top or tie your favorite loose T-shirt or button-up.

    12. Printed Bike Shorts

What can’t bike shorts do? Not only are they extremely versatile and one of our favorite items to work out in, but they’re officially a wardrobe staple outside of the gym (or you know, the yoga mat on your living room floor). Dress up a printed version with a basic tee and ladylike accessories.

These Summer-Friendly Loungewear Sets Are Here to Cure Your Isolation Blues

It is day 1,394,888(?) of quarantine and I am challenged to find the words for how I feel. “Stir-crazy” doesn’t seem to cut it. “Bummed” doesn’t do it justice. Truly, the only word I can use to bring light to my current emotional state is “blah.” In an attempt to add some *zest* to my life, I’m channeling the Tiger King period of isolation. You know, the part where we all emptied the grocery stores of yeast to make bread, questioned who killed Carole Baskin’s husband, downloaded Tik Tok after we promised ourselves we wouldn’t, and waited anxiously for our cozy, winter-friendly loungewear sets to arrive. I won’t say that I’m tired of my March-friendly lounge sets, but I will say this: summer is upon us and I am sweating. It’s humid as hell in Chicago and as much as I’d like to walk around naked at all times, I have windows and my across the street neighbors simply do not need to see that. My solution? Finding the cutest loungewear sets on the web that are hot-weather approved and cute AF. Read on to shop the summer-friendly sets I’m adding to my cart to bring joy back to my quarantine:
