Two weeks after the horrifying explosion in Beirut, the city is continuing to recover.
In particular, many are mourning the loved ones they tragically lost and the thousands who were injured are still recuperating.

Lebanese actress Nadine Njeim was one of those left injured from the blast. The 36-year-old had to undergo a six-hour surgery due to the injuries she sustained.
Giving her fans an update a few days ago, the star shared an image from her hospital bed with both of her children by her side.

In the caption of her photo Njeim said, “I thank God a thousand times he didn’t deprive me of this moment nor deprive my children of me.”
Updating her fans on her condition, she said that her wounds were healing and that she was set to be discharged from hospital.

However, she admitted that the blast felt heavy on her heart and prayed for the victims.
“What happened to all of us…,” she added. “Do you know what the Lebanese point has in common? Pain, unfortunately. We are always in total calamity or pain.”
The actress went on to thank everyone for their well-wishes and prayers, and also sent her love to Beirut in this difficult time.
Two weeks ago in the aftermath of the blast, Njeim posted a video of her Beirut home showing debris strewn across her living room.

Lebanese designer Elie Saab’s message of hope in the wake of the Beirut blast

As the city of Beirut continues to recover following the devastating explosion that occurred two weeks ago, fashion designer Elie Saab has shared a message of hope to the people of Lebanon.
In a candid interview with Reuters, Saab, whose home was destroyed in the blast, recalled the moment he saw his son injured from the explosion.

“I saw my son covered in blood; I could not believe it,” he said. “I said OK, he is wounded, but it was OK, it was just cuts to his head and arms.”
However, further recounting the moment Saab admitted that while it was 15 minutes it “felt like two days long”.

“It was not just because it is a father and son thing, it was because we all work together like one family under one roof,” he added.
As a result of the blast, Saab’s office and headquarters – which has 200 members of staff working at the HQ – were also badly damaged.

The designer, who founded his eponymous label in 1982 at the height of Lebanon’s civil war (1975 – 1990), likened the atmosphere in Beirut post-blast to that time.
“It was the same smell, the same dust, the broken glass. Honestly, we did not want to relive this and it was not necessary,” he told Reuters.
While the 56-year-old designer admits it has been a “huge setback”, he offered a hopeful message to the people of Beirut.
“This is a huge setback but we have to be like Beirut – every time dusting itself off and returning to the way it was,” he said. “We must go on … It does not become us as Lebanese to give up.”
However, it did pay tribute to those who lost their lives saying “the biggest loss is the people you can’t bring back”.
The devasting explosion killed 178, has left 6,000 injured and damaged entire communities in Beirut.

More than 20,000 people are travelling through Dubai airport daily

As things for the travel and tourism industry in Dubai continue to improve following the opening of the borders at the beginning of July, an official has said he expects tourist numbers to go back up to return to “peak 2019” numbers by November of this year.
In a recent interview with Gulf News, Brigadier Talal Ahmad Al Shanqiti, general director assistant of Ports Affairs in GDRFA-Dubai, outlined the positive shift the emirate has seen since the borders opened just over a month ago.

“Every day we have more than 20,000 travellers through the airport,” he told the outlet, adding that most travellers are tourists in addition to some residents who are travelling out of the country.
“We expect by November, the peak numbers will be similar to those of 2019,” he added.

Ahmad Al Shanqiti also highlighted that the guidelines and measures implemented in Dubai under the leadership HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, have made tourists “trust the safety measures in the country”.
Last week, the Director-General of Dubai Tourism, Helal Saeed Almarri, said that since the reopening of the borders they have “been greatly encouraged by the market’s response in the second phase of our recovery strategy”.
“People are much more optimistic and well-informed now and are ready to go on holidays to destinations that are safe and have put in place strong health and safety protocols,” he added.
With Emirates now flying to over 70 destinations and flydubai covering 66 desintations this summer, bookings for both local airlines are reportedly increasing.
All in all, travel and tourism in the region is on the up.

Chrissy Teigen reveals her surprise third pregnancy

Over the weekend Chrissy Teigen and John Legend revealed the joyous news they are expecting their third child.
However, it was quite a shock for Teigen who revealed the interesting story behind finding out she was pregnant.

The 34-year-old – who is already mum to Luna, four, and two-year-old Miles – underwent surgery in June to remove her breast implants, which a fan pointed out after Teigen announced her pregnancy.
“Oh, it’s quite a story,” Teigen responded, who went onto to explain that prior to surgery she took a pregnancy test which was negative.

“A few weeks after surgery, I took a test,” she continued. “And for many years now, I’ve taken pregnancy tests almost every month, praying to see a positive one day. Just wishful thinking. I never had a positive before.”

a few weeks after surgery, I took a test. And for many years now, I’ve taken pregnancy tests almost every month, praying to see a positive one day. Just wishful thinking. I never had a positive before.
    — chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) August 15, 2020

On the morning of husband John Legend’s latest album release, Teigen explained he had gotten up at 3am for an interview, which prompted her to get up and take her routine monthly pregnancy test.
“I woke up with him and was like man, should take my monthly test to be disappointed… I was not disappointed,” she said.
With her first two children Teigen fell pregnant after undergoing IVF – a treatment she has been very open about – so, she was never sure if it would be possible for her to fall pregnant without fertility treatment.
Lo and behold, she did. “When you give up on trying, life has a way of surprising you,” she said.
Congratulations to the Legend-Teigen family who will soon become a family of five!
