UAE holidays 2025: A comprehensive guide.

The UAE Cabinet has recently unveiled the official holidays for the upcoming year, 2025. Both the public and private sectors can anticipate a series of well-deserved breaks, including several long weekends.

    Major Islamic Holidays

The year will kick off with the traditional observance of Gregorian New Year on January 1st, a Wednesday. This will be followed by the eagerly awaited Eid Al Fitr, a three-day celebration whose exact dates will be determined by the moon sighting. To accommodate a 30-day Ramadan, an additional day may be added to the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

Another significant Islamic holiday, Eid Al Adha, is scheduled for three days in the month of Dhu Al Hijjah. The specific dates for this celebration will also be confirmed based on lunar observations. Additionally, one day each is allocated for Arafat Day and the Islamic New Year, Muharram 1.

    Other Notable Holidays

For those celebrating the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed, the calendar includes a day off on Rabi Al Awwal 12. Moreover, the UAE government has designated December 2nd and 3rd as holidays to commemorate the nation’s history and celebrate the 54th UAE Union Day.

    Estimated Gregorian Calendar Dates

To assist in planning vacations and leave, it’s helpful to have a general idea of the Gregorian Calendar dates corresponding to these Islamic holidays. Based on astronomical predictions, Ramadan is expected to begin on Saturday, March 1st. Consequently, Eid Al Fitr is likely to fall between Monday, March 31st, and Wednesday, April 2nd. Arafat Day is anticipated on Friday, May 30th, leading to Eid Al Adha celebrations from Saturday, May 31st, to Wednesday, June 2nd. The Islamic New Year is projected to occur on Friday, June 27th, and Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday is expected on Monday, September 1st.

    Important Considerations

It’s important to note that these are estimated dates, and the actual dates may vary slightly depending on the precise moon sightings. Furthermore, if any of the official holidays fall on a weekend, they may be carried over to the beginning or end of the week, with the exception of Eid holidays.

    Planning Ahead

By understanding the anticipated holiday schedule, individuals and businesses can effectively plan their leave and activities throughout the year. It’s also advisable to stay updated on any official announcements closer to the holidays, as there might be minor adjustments or additional information provided.

Dubai’s Golden Visa requirements relaxed for property investors

Lifeby Ruman Baig4 hours ago Dubai has recently revamped the eligibility criteria for the coveted 10-year Golden Visa, specifically targeting property investors. The noteworthy change involves the elimination of the previous Dhs1 million down-payment requirement, a move set to redefine the landscape for those seeking this long-term residency privilege.Under the new regulations, prospective Golden Visa recipients are now required to invest in properties with a minimum value of Dhs2 million. This significant adjustment liberates investors from the earlier financial burden of the mandatory Dhs1 million down-payment, offering a more accessible pathway to the esteemed 10-year golden residency. This shift in dynamics means that even those opting for off-plan units can now qualify for the Golden Visa with a considerably reduced down payment, potentially as low as Dh50,000.Introduced in 2019, the Golden Visa initially targeted exceptional talents, offering a decade of residency under their own sponsorship. Over the subsequent years, the eligibility categories for the UAE Golden Visa have undergone expansions, providing a broader spectrum of individuals the opportunity to establish permanent roots in the country.Dubai’s decision to eliminate the hefty down-payment requirement aligns with the broader objective of attracting foreign investment and fostering a thriving real estate market. The move is anticipated to stimulate increased interest from potential investors, as the barriers to entry for the Golden Visa program have now been significantly lowered. This strategic initiative not only positions Dubai as a more attractive destination for property investment but also reinforces the city’s commitment to adapting policies in response to the evolving needs of the global investor community.– For more on luxury lifestyle, news, fashion and beauty follow Emirates Woman on Facebook and InstagramImages: Instagram @visitdubai More

Major milestone: Official approval granted for common GCC tourism visa

    Life

    by Ruman Baig

In a groundbreaking move, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states have given the green light to a revolutionary GCC tourism visa, reminiscent of the Schengen model.
This momentous decision was announced by Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, during a gathering of regional interior ministers at the GCC summit in Muscat, Oman, on November 8.
Emphasizing the significance of this new visa, the Secretary General hailed it as a remarkable achievement for the region. He also stressed the need for the timely implementation of the GCC tourist visa within a specific timeframe.
A recent statement by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE’s Minister of Economy, indicated that the unified tourism visa could become a reality by 2025. The minister explained that the rollout would be contingent upon the development of specific regulations and legislation. If all internal systems of the participating countries are prepared, the launch is anticipated between 2024 and 2025.

The introduction of a GCC common tourism visa is set to revolutionize travel in the region. Once operational, visitors can utilize a single tourism visa to explore all six GCC states: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
This visionary initiative aligns with the GCC 2030 tourism strategy, aiming to boost the tourism sector’s contribution to the GDP by fostering increased inter-GCC travel and raising hotel occupancy rates. The ultimate goal is to position the GCC as a premier global destination for both regional and international tourists, as articulated by the UAE Minister.
The UAE’s Minister of Economy highlighted that this tourism visa is not only a simplification of travel logistics but also a catalyst for an upsurge in tourism across the region.
This strategic move is poised to make regional travel more accessible and attractive within the next two years.
