Dubai, a city known for its ambitious skyline and luxurious lifestyle, is set to become a pedestrian-friendly paradise with the “Dubai Walk” project.
The “Dubai Walk” project, unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, envisions a network of 6,500 kilometers of modern walkways spanning across the emirate. This massive undertaking aims to connect iconic landmarks, historic districts, and vibrant neighborhoods, encouraging residents and visitors to explore the city on foot.

    A Network of Connectivity
The Dubai Walk initiative will not only enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal but also revolutionize urban mobility. By 2040, Dubai will boast 3,300 kilometers of newly constructed walkways and 2,300 kilometers of upgraded existing pathways. Additionally, 110 pedestrian bridges and underpasses will be strategically placed to facilitate seamless movement throughout the city.
    A Glimpse into the Future
One of the most exciting components of the Dubai Walk project is “The Future Loop,” an elevated walkway that will encircle the iconic Museum of the Future. This 2-kilometer-long pathway will connect key landmarks such as the World Trade Centre, Emirates Towers, and DIFC, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city. To complement this ambitious project, significant investments will be made in road infrastructure, including bridges and tunnels, to improve traffic flow and reduce travel times.

    A City for People
Beyond the physical infrastructure, Dubai Walk is committed to creating vibrant urban spaces that foster community and well-being. The project will introduce various urban models, including plazas, superblocks, and boulevards, to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
To further incentivize walking, a dedicated smart app will be launched. This innovative app will allow users to track their walking activity, explore recommended routes, and earn rewards for their efforts. By gamifying the walking experience, Dubai aims to encourage a healthier and more active lifestyle.
    A Sustainable Future
Dubai’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the Dubai Walk project. By prioritizing pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, the city aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote a healthier environment. Additionally, the integration of green spaces and sustainable design principles will contribute to a more livable and resilient city.
As Dubai continues to evolve into a global metropolis, the Dubai Walk project represents a significant step towards creating a more human-centric and sustainable urban environment. By prioritizing pedestrians and investing in innovative infrastructure, Dubai is poised to become a leading example of urban planning and design.

This security feature, previously showcased on the Dhs1,000 note earlier this year, marks a remarkable stride in safeguarding the nation’s currency.
On one side, the new Dhs500 bill showcases the Terra Sustainability Pavilion in Expo City Dubai, an emblem of the country’s commitment to environmental consciousness. Meanwhile, the reverse side paints a vivid picture of the Museum of the Future, Emirates Towers, and the iconic Burj Khalifa, standing tall at 828 meters as a beacon of sustainability with its predominant reliance on solar power.
What sets this note apart isn’t just its aesthetic appeal; it’s a testament to the UAE’s dedication to environmental responsibility. Crafted from fully recyclable polymer, the Dhs500 bill aligns with eco-friendly principles, making it a symbolic representation of progress and sustainability.
As the nation stands on the cusp of celebrating its 52nd Union Day on December 2nd, this new banknote not only captures the essence of modernity and innovation but also reinforces the UAE’s commitment to security, durability, and environmental stewardship.
It’s not just currency; it’s a tangible reflection of a nation’s strides into a future marked by resilience and responsibility.
