Watch: Sheikh Mohammed praised for being a ‘humble leader’ in viral TikTok video

    Lifestyle

    by Team Emirates Woman

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is known for being very much in touch with the people of the UAE and a new viral video has proven exactly why.
In a video posted to social media platform TikTok, footage was captured of the Dubai Ruler on a recent outing in Motor City. His Highness, in the company of a few others, is seen walking towards his car, which is emblazoned with the well-known number one number plate, opening the door and getting in.
While the action in itself is very simple, it speaks volumes, as many users noted in the comments of the video, which has now been viewed over one million times.

Sheikh Mohammed has been lauded as a “humble”  and “great” leader by viewers.
“Because people love him, he doesn’t need much security,” one user commented.
“You see the [difference] no 50 security members and cameras everywhere [because] he made sure the country is a safe place for everyone,” another said.
Another also added, “What a great leader, which is [a] lesson to [the] world.”
The safest place in the world
The safety of UAE citizens and residents has continually been reflected in the leadership of the country.
Last year in November in an official report by Gallup, it was found the UAE is the safest place to walk alone, with 95 per cent of the country’s residents feel safe, especially when walking alone at night.
Sheikh Mohammed himself shared his pride in the ranking, noting how safe the UAE was for women and how they can walk home, be it day or night, “without fear”.
“Security is a blessing and safety is tranquillity,” he said. “If a woman wanders alone at any hour of the day or night without fear, she knows that she is in the Emirates.”

UAE announces Islamic New Year holiday for public and private sectors

    Lifestyle

    by Olivia Morris

The UAE has confirmed the Islamic New Year holiday for both the public and private sectors.
In a statement issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, it was announced that Hijiri New Year would fall on 1st of Muharram 1444. This will likely correspond in the Gregorian calendar to July 30, 2022, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon.

    — FAHR (@FAHR_UAE) July 26, 2022

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced earlier this year that this Saturday, July 30, would be a paid public holiday for private sector employees to mark Hijiri New Year.
While this means it will still be a normal working week for many, for those who work on Saturdays, it will be a welcome day off.

Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that Saturday, July 30, 2022, will be an official paid holiday for all private sector employees in the UAE on the occasion of #IslamicNewYear (1444H). We wish you a happy Islamic New Year. #UAE #MOHRE pic.twitter.com/0NzBTSPyVY
    — MOHRE_UAE وزارة الموارد البشرية والتوطين (@MOHRE_UAE) July 24, 2022

After Islamic New Year, there are only three public holidays remaining in 2022 – the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, Commemoration Day and National Day.
    The Prophet’s Birthday
The Prophet Mohammed’s birthday will fall on the 12 of the Hijri month of Rabi Al Awwal, which is predicted to be around October 8, 2022.
    Commemoration Day and National Day
To close out 2022, those in the UAE will have another break to look forward to with Commemoration Day, December 1, and National Day, December 2.

Everything you need to know about Jupiter Retrograde and the New Moon in Leo

    Lifestyle

    by Team Emirates Woman

Words by Kirstyn Lewis – Founder of the Karmic Soul
The New Moon in Leo is joining the Sun in Leo on July 28. These two mighty luminaries usually shine bright, but this year they have Jupiter and Saturn taking the lustre out of things who are now retrograde until November 23. They are putting a more serious light on things for you.
During Leo season, most of us are happy, enthusiastic, and looking forward to some fun but planetary aspects this time show you will be more introspective and suspicious than usual. You could also be more opinionated and argumentative. Or are you just nervous or in a bad mood? You may be more likely to find fault with others; I’m sure you will blame the often powerful and authoritative energies Leo can sometimes unleash. Until July 30 expect to feel more sensitive than usual, you can put that down to ego.
Over the past two weeks, expansive Jupiter has already weighed in on your situation. He is concerned. Has someone been talking behind your back and putting you down at work? Try to let things slide. They’re simply struggling to find a deeper connection with themselves or feeling jealous you’re more loved. Their ideas seem to be lacking compared to yours, or they don’t do the work to warrant the limelight or position they hold.
By Monday, August 1, you will hardly care, although you may feel a deep need to be treated fairly and justly. Exhibit caution or hesitation around what you have heard. Can you trust the grapevine? If you challenge the situation, they will appear dismissive or in denial. Soon enough, you will realise those talking down about you are too risk-averse to get to where they think they should be. Keep your counsel and worry about yourself.

A democratic Saturn has been somewhat inhibited since going into retrograde in early June. He is also asking you to rein things in a little. Can you strike a balance?
The New Moon in Leo wants you to go back over your thoughts, plans and behaviours. What are you planning to do in the future? It needs to be robust and stand the test of time, considering every situation. I bet you’d rather be focused on a vacation.
To add to the mix, watch for legal matters that might take an unexpected and unpleasant turn as another attacks your reputation or questions your arrogance. You’d be wise to choose your battles carefully. Spend time in solitude to understand how to navigate a current situation; you must be ingenious; tried and true ways will not work.
You must have a system in place for nurturing yourself when navigating and negating the inevitable and unexpected. There is no point in dissing, disagreeing or staying stuck in a situation. Do you get your way based on control and manipulation? Tsk. Tsk.
Saturn returns to his old self when he goes direct on October 23. Any past mistakes will have been carefully reviewed and analysed; you won’t be making them again. Expect things to move swiftly ahead for you once Jupiter joins him in direct motion on November 23.
Check your birth chart; what house Saturn and Jupiter are retrograding for you? They will be the big topics that affect you personally. The Moon is moving swiftly through the zodiac every 2.5 days, so don’t be surprised if your emotions are all over the place whilst the bigger picture is being worked out.
By the Full Moon on August 11, you remain wary of the more ruthless, but how about turning the spotlight on yourself for a change? The challenge is to honour yourself. By then, expect the wisened to be counting their blessings.

    Lifestyle

    by Sarah Joseph

With Dubai summers reaching peak temperatures, the best way to escape is with an activity-fuelled staycation without any added hassle.
After recently opening in Dubai, 25hours Hotel One Central brings a quirky experience in the heart of the emirate with views overlooking the city’s impressive skyline.
As I was on the lookout for a quirky getaway, this all-in-one experience became the perfect escape combining elements of nomadism with a flair.
This staycation was undoubtedly packed with a host of global traditions in one venue and here’s why Emirates Woman suggests you should add it to your bucket list too.
    Unwind in a quirky suite

Nothing about 25hours is conventional, particularly its nomadic-themed suites, each with its own individual flair. To be transported to nature, The Farmstay Suite offers features such as a double rainfall shower and a hammock to relax after a long stay. Meanwhile, the Artistic Village Suite is an invigorating space to get your creative juices flowing.  If you’re looking for something a bit extra, The Hakawati Suite, features two private bars, a photo booth, a double bathtub, a dance floor and a secret staircase leading to an expansive space for all your friends to gather. The most unique feature is the Sheikh trip-king-sized bed with a seamless view of the city’s skyline. For a summer retreat escape, guests receive a 40 per cent discount on the hotel’s best available rates when booking for two nights or more until September 30, 2022.
    A culinary journey

From freshly baked pretzels to authentic German dishes, Ernst Biergarten located within the hotel takes guests on a traditional journey. Without any dearth of entertainment, this must-visit spot features quiz nights, football screenings and live singing. This Bavarian banquet effortlessly mimics an old traditional pub in Germany with décor put together with fine attention to detail. With events such as Oktoberfest soon approaching, you know exactly where to visit next.
    Hit the pool

If you’re looking to catch some sun, the pool at the hotel’s sixth-floor desk showcases unrivalled views of the Museum of the Future. Every Sunday, the venue combines views with vibes at the Cool Runnings pool party with cocktails and Afrobeats to keep the energy up throughout. The day is spruced with a delectable Jamaican BBQ including beef patties, skewers, slushies, and more. From 2pm to 8pm, guests can soak up the sun and wind down from the weekend in this enticing environment.
    Record your own podcast

Plan on starting your own podcast? This venue offers its very own podcast studio to record the next inspiring idea you might have. With professionally-equipped mikes, guests can use their time wisely to create content in this inspiring space. Without limiting to podcasts, guests also have the option of mixing their own vinyl and perhaps recording the next best hit.
Stay productive in the co-working space

To ensure your work doesn’t take a backseat the hotel is packed with a plethora of co-working spaces including the Nomadic Bar. With freshly brewed coffees and an array of authentic desserts, visitors can dine and work all day in tranquillity. Situated in the heart of the hotel, this local barista is operated by one of Dubai’s most popular coffee houses, Nightjar Coffee. Without being limited to the coffee shop, guests can also work in different areas of the hotel including the common rooms and desks adjacent to the vinyl studio.
    Rejuvenate

For some me-time, The Extra Spa offers a plethora of relaxing treatments and massages to rejuvenate for the week ahead. From express treatments to 60-minute full-body massages, there are a host of services for a luxurious escape. For a deep cleanse, the salt room is open for guests to use post their massage and to feel replenished from the inside out.
    Book a delectable Indian brunch

With the weekend known for brunches, the hotel’s authentic Indian restaurant, Tandoor Tina serves a variety of dishes with a playful British twist. Every Saturday from 1pm to 4:40 pm, visitors can dine with their friends and family with a host of flavourful dishes and mouth-watering cocktails. The non-alcoholic package starts at Dhs245, the house package is priced at Dhs345 and the bubbles package is at Dhs445.
While you walk in as a stranger, you walk out feeling just as much at home with the hotel’s friendly staff and simplicity. I couldn’t recommend a stay here more.
