Dubai-based airline Emirates continues to lead the way in aviation.
At the beginning of June, the carrier announced it was the first Middle Eastern airline to launch a premium economy class set to be “unmatched in the industry”.
Now, the new Emirates premium economy class has officially launched and is set to be a gamechanger for passengers who can now opt for a more luxurious experience, especially on long-haul flights.
The new cabin class will be open on popular A380 routes to London, Paris, and Sydney from August 1, 2022. From December onwards, the service will also be available to customers flying to Christchurch, New Zealand.
“The Emirates A380 is already one of the most sought-after travel experiences in the skies, and now we’ve made it even better,” Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said.

The new premium economy offers a 2-4-2 cabin layout with additional leg room for maximum circulation for customers during the flight. With a revamped entertainment experience guests can enjoy up to 5,000 music, movies, TV, news, and other content channels, with accessible charging points and a wider dining table.
To ease the hassle of checking in, the airport will also offer a dedicated check-in area for Premium Economy at Dubai International Airport, Terminal 3, or a self-service check kiosk to avoid long queues.
For a superior travel experience, Emirates Airlines also recently launched a complimentary at-home check-in service for business and first-class passengers at home, with a nominal fee for economy class passengers.

UAE fuel prices drop in August after reaching highest rates in 2022 in July

    Lifestyle

    by Team Emirates Woman

The UAE has announced a drop in fuel prices for August 2022.
This comes after prices reached an all-time high in July, crossing the Dhs4 per litre mark since the fuel price deregulation in August 2015.
However, Emarat announced the petrol rates for August which has seen a drop of up to 62 fils per litre, with 95 special and 91 E-Plus falling back below Dhs4 per litre.
ALSO READ: This is exactly how much petrol prices have increased since January
Throughout August 98 Super is now Dhs4.03 per litre; 95 Special is now Dhs3.92 per litre; Diesel is now Dhs4.14 per litre; and 91 E-Plus is Dhs3.84 per litre.

    — Emarat (امارات) (@EmaratOfficial) July 31, 2022

The price drop will undoubtedly be welcomed by many across the country following prices increasing for two months consecutively in June and July 2022.
It was found petrol costs had increased by a whopping 74 per cent up until July 2022, since the beginning of the year.
    The knock-on effect
The rising petrol prices are also having a knock-on effect on big businesses too.
In June, ride-hailing company, Uber Technologies Inc. announced price increases, announcing customers would now be charged as much as 11 per cent more for certain trips.
With global petrol and diesel prices continuing to reach soaring highs, many parts of the UAE including Sharjah have seen a hike in taxi fares.
To keep the low-income citizens in mind, the new allowance will provide a monthly subsidy of 85 per cent of the fuel price increase over Dhs2.1 per litre, as reported by WAM.
Per the latest fuel subsidy scheme, the head of these families will receive a subsidy of 300 litres, while working wives will receive a subsidy of 200 litres. The announcement came as part of the UAE president’s directive to restructure its social welfare programme for low-income Emiratis, doubling its size to Dhs28 billion.
Despite the increase in prices, the UAE continues to be the third-biggest OPEC producer followed by Kuwait.

Video: Sheikha Hissa Al Maktoum celebrates major victory at UK racing event

    Lifestyle

    by Team Emirates Woman

The Dubai royal family is known for their affinity and passion for horses, some of which has largely been shaped by the late His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the former Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
The late sheikh was also the founder of Shadwell Racing, a global racing and breeding enterprise involving both Thoroughbred and Arabian horses, which has seen success worldwide.
His Highness’ legacy lived on at the recent Sussex Stakes in the UK, where stallion Baaeed was victorious and is regarded as perhaps one of the best racehorses in the world.

The late sheikh’s daughter, Her Highness Sheikha Hissa bint Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, was at the race reverently watching on as Baaeed triumphantly crossed the finish line in Group 1.
“For me and my family he means the world,” Sheikha Hissa told Racing TV following Baaeed’s victory, adding that it was a special moment to see the racehorse’s triumph, particularly as he’s from the lineage her later father bred.
“It’s good to see one of our best horses coming from that lineage that my father worked hard on,” she said.

Celebrating the victory of four-year-old Baaeed with Sheikh Hissa was jockey Jim Crowley and trainer William Haggas.
Also close to Sheikha Hissa was her father, whom she paid tribute to with a badge of his photo on her pale pink abaya.
We’re sure her father would be incredibly proud of his daughter as she continues to champion his legacy.
