Queen Rania steps out to make a powerful speech in an equally powerful outfit

    Fashion

    by Olivia Morris

Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan always delivers in the style stakes, but her latest look may prove she is the most stylish royal ever.
The wife of King Abdullah II stepped out in Lisbon, Portugal on Wednesday to deliver a keynote speech at the 2022 Web Summit.
Ensuring she looked en pointe, Queen Rania turned heads in an edgy ensemble wearing a cropped metallic tweed jacket by Alessandra Rich paired with Bottega Veneta trousers and a handbag.
But seriously a queen wearing a cropped jacket? Truly iconic.

    A powerful speech
Not only did Her Majesty step out in a powerful outfit, but she also had a powerful message to share at the summit where she delivered a speech about “Battling built-in biasses”.
Queen Rania’s speech touched on the problems of relying too much on technology.
“The real progress we need is not better machines but for all of us to be better humans,” she said, adding society had become “hooked” to their mobile phones and other technology devices.
She cited the Digital Global Overview Report from 2022 which outlined the average time spent online has increased by four minutes each day. This equates to one day per person, per year.

“I am concerned that we’re undervaluing the most precious currency of all — our time,” she added. “I am concerned that, even as virtual reality improves by the day, we’re neglecting the needs of our actual reality. And our mental health is suffering, too.”
Per the Jordan News Agency, Her Majesty also highlighted the world’s response to the Ukraine refugee crisis showcasing what can be achieved through joint efforts, but she also spotlighted the “difference in generosity, tone, and urgency” for refugees from countries including Syria, South Sudan and Myanmar. that extended to refugees from countries such as Syria, South Sudan, and Myanmar.
“It’s hard not to wonder if skin colour and religion affect the global community’s humanitarian instincts and whether the impulse is to lend a helping hand or look away,” she questioned. “Addressing that prejudice isn’t an algorithm’s job. It’s up to us.”

Bella Hadid visits Palestine exhibition while in Qatar with her father

    Lifestyle

    by Olivia Morris

Many of the who’s who in fashion have touched down in Doha for the Qatar Creates October Edition, led under the patronage of Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, including supermodel Bella Hadid.
As one of her first activities after touching down in Doha, the 26-year-old visited a new exhibition dedicated to Palestine with her father, Mohamed Hadid.
Entitled ‘Labour of Love’, the exhibition explores the journey of tatreez embroidery, a key part of Palestine’s heritage and is “woven into the social, economic, and political fabric of Palestinian society, through different historical periods”.

“This show brought tears to my eyes and even more pride for my beautiful Palestinian roots and people,” the model said. “I love you Qatar and I love you Palestine!”
Hadid regularly pays tribute to Palestine, where her father is from. He’s previously shared how he doesn’t have “a single picture of me [as] when I was a baby I was just about 9 days old when I and my family were refugees to the refugee camps in Syria from Palestine”.
    Supermodels reunite
Later on in the evening, Hadid was reunited with fellow supermodel Naomi Campbell for the opening night of Qatar Creates, where the pair were given a tour of the Museum of Islamic Art.

Oozing style and glamour, Hadid wore a midi black dress featuring a series of gold buttons down the middle, paired with a black headscarf. Meanwhile, Campbell wore a black and white patterned jumpsuit.

This Friday, Campbell will host a spectacular charity event to announce a new global initiative EMERGE in partnership with Qatar Creates. Over 1000 VIP guests from the worlds of fashion, entertainment, arts and business are set to attend.

Cozy but Chic: The Everygirl’s Work-from-Home Capsule Wardrobe

If you’ve been an Everygirl for awhile, you already know how keen we are on the concept of a capsule wardrobe: a closet full of items that can be mixed and matched with one another for an infinite amount of combinations and a permanent fix to your “I don’t know what to wear today” conundrum.
At this point, many of us have made the permanent transition from going to the office to working from home. Gone are the days of getting dressed and heading out for a commute, and mornings of getting ready just to decide whether we want to work from our kitchen tables or desks are now the reality.
One of the realities of life is that when you look good, you feel good. Spending every day working from the same gray sweats that you haven’t washed in two weeks? Probably not the most conducive to having a productive work day. Cozy clothes that look cute do in fact exist, and that’s the sweet spot of a perfect work-from-home wardrobe. It’s time to feel put-together for your 9-5, even if you’re working it from your couch.

    For when it’s a work-from-the-couch day

    crewneck | blue-light glasses | split-hem sweats | plus | cozy socks
We all have those days; the ones where you wake up and know you need to work with your body horizontal for the day. When your main priority is comfort, a cheeky crewneck and chic, split-hem pants are your go-to. To ensure maximum comfort, add a pair of cozy socks, and protect your eyes with blue light glasses you’ll be happy to show off on Zoom.

For a day of Zoom meetings

collared blouse | plus | gold hoops | black leggings | plus | essential oil diffuser
Have a day full of important virtual meetings? The details on top are all that matter. Opt for a blouse with a Peter Pan collar that will draw the eye (and make onlookers note how professional you look). Gold hoops also draw add an element of looking put-together with quite literally no effort. What they don’t need to know? That you’re wearing leggings on bottom. Win, win.

    For a chilly day

    chunky sweater | plus | blue-light glasses | pull-on pants | plus | slippers
As the temperatures start dropping, there’s nothing like the gratitude of looking outside and knowing you can be cozy inside, no commute included. When your space heater is blasting and you want to have a cozy, quintessential day, a chunky knit is key. Pair yours with an easy pair of pull-on pants that feel like sweats, but will make you look a little more put-together (and feel put-together too).
