      UAE to ban single-use plastic bags from 2024

      By making a conscious effort to protect the environment, the UAE will ban the production and circulation of single-use plastic shopping bags from January 1, 2024.
      As per the state news agency WAM, the resolution prohibits the import, production and circulation of single-use plastic shopping bags from next year.
      Additionally, the government has told authorities, retailers, suppliers and consumers to prepare “suitable, sustainable and multi-use alternatives in all shopping stores, retail stores and sales outlets on a permanent basis,” as reported by the agency.
      A rule has already been implemented in Dubai since last summer for a nominal 25 fils charge on plastic bags in Dubai on plastic bags with most plastic bags banned in Abu Dhabi since last year.
      In order to ensure, certain produce remains fresh, thin bag rolls will be excluded from this decision and will require a clear label in order to proceed with in the future. Other bags made with recycled materials shall also be exempted from the rule.
      Without limiting to plastic bags, the UAE will also ban plastic products such as cups, plates, cutlery, containers, straws, stirrers and boxes from January 1, 2026.
      With four emirates having already regulated the use of plastic and announcing bans, others will soon become part of the vision to follow sustainable practices and for the UAE’s pledge to reach net zero by 2050 was a first for the MENA region.

      How to declutter your home with this Dubai-based professional organiser

      Salam Shaban, professional Dubai-based organizer and founder of Tidymess, discusses how you can reset your space for a successful 2023.
      What inspired you to enter the organisational space?
      I always loved organising, so it was something I was eager to learn more about. After seeing the amazing work of Marie Kondo I felt inspired to pursue it more seriously. Once I created a system that worked so well for myself and my family, I felt it was important to share it with others.
      You launched Tidymess a few years back. What was the initial response to the concept?
      At the time, it was a very new concept. I found myself having to explain it to most people I knew. Once people started to see my work they thought it was a great idea and encouraged me to pursue it.
      How have things evolved since you launched?
      I’ve been so lucky to have received such a phenomenal response from my clients and social media. This has really helped me grow my business. Every day people hire me and my team to help organize their spaces. We immerse ourselves in their homes and move through their spaces tailoring a highly-functional system. In the beginning, it was difficult to take on large projects, but as my team grew, we are now capable of really helping our clients organise as many spaces in their homes as they need.

      For those who are having a refresh for a new year, what are your top tips to start organising your space and life?
      Before buying anything new, take a minute or two to think about where it is going to live in your home and life. Think about how long you will need this item and what will happen to it in the future when you no longer do it. If it is something that you feel will add no real value to your space, then you most probably don’t need it.

      A particular place where clutter can build is your wardrobe. What is the best way to approach decluttering this space?
      Ask yourselves questions such as: When was the last time you wore it?; Is it in good condition?; Does it have sentimental value?; Have you worn it in the past year?; Does it fit you properly? Your answers will help you decide whether you want to keep, donate or store away your item.
      Over the years, what have been the hurdles you’ve experienced when building the Tidymess concept?
      Starting any business from scratch is a challenge. In my case, I was starting a business from scratch about a new concept that few people had heard of. I would say bringing my vision to life was a great challenge because it took a while for people to realize the necessity of adopting a new lifestyle for their homes as opposed to seeing my work as simply “cleaning up” the house.
      What have been the key milestones?
      I would say my first milestone was when I was able to bring in a team to help me serve my clients better. Building a team gave me a sense of accomplishment that something I had started on my own was now growing into something more. My second milestone was after having my third child and realizing that I did not need to stop working. It took a lot of mental and emotional energy to see that it was okay for me to keep doing what I loved. Once I started taking on new projects again, I was so proud of myself and happy that I had not just let it go because of my new responsibilities and busy life.
      What does the future hold for Tidymess?
      Continue to grow and reach more people. Everyone can be a part of this concept. Whether they want to hire our services, buy our favourite products online or simply gain a few ideas from our social media page. I hope my team and I can help more people organize their spaces and love their homes.
      What will you be doing to reset your mindset and body for 2023?
      Keep finding that balance. As a mum of three and founder of a female-owned business, I find myself wearing many hats at once and that can quickly become overwhelming. I just need to keep finding that balance between my home life, work life and also those moments that are just for me.

      How this Dubai-based Pilates studio promises the ultimate wellness experience

      Elle Sawyer, founder of Dubai- based Pilates studio, POSTURE. shares what it takes to launch her own wellness space.

      Talk us through your career.
      I started interning as a Fashion Assistant at Hearst Group [formerly, The National Magazine Company in London] whilst studying. It was there that I found my love for fashion and editorial and wanted to be part of the industry. I later graduated in English Literature and moved to Dubai at age 22, where I began work as a production manager. Working there opened up doors into editorial, advertising and many other production divisions in the region, allowing me to later niche my experience specifically when going freelance and producing regularly for the likes of NET-A-PORTER, luxury magazines and more both regionally and internationally. I am very grateful for the experience I gained in the region, and to the place, I call home, Dubai. Though I loved my career as a creative producer, I always felt something was missing. The once-loved 14-hour shoot days became mundane and the fast-paced zero work/life balance lifestyle I’d created for myself, in the end, made me feel unhealthy. Later that summer, as a result, I suffered an ectopic pregnancy and decided that it was time for a change. As a way to unwind from work, I had started Reformer Pilates and I loved what it did for my mind and body. During the lockdown, I started taking Pilates more seriously and decided to train as a teacher. While training in Pilates, I naturally started teaching it to other people – wanting others around me to believe and love it as much as I did. I became so passionate about it that it clicked that this was my calling. Other than my actual Pilates certification, I have always been a very spiritual person and enjoy being around like-minded people that inspire and teach me things I do not know, especially in mind-body practices. Life is always about learning and I take great pleasure in learning new realms of wellness in physical and mental forms. Spirituality, meditation, law of attraction, crystal healing, acupuncture [& TCM] are all areas of well-being that I actively practice in my everyday life.

      What inspired you to launch POSTURE.?
      Having worked with fashion magazines and brands throughout my career, I wanted to create a brand that married the two worlds together. My love of Pilates and fashion fuelled my vision to create POSTURE. as being a positive and inviting space that was modern, minimalistic with healing. I knew I wanted more than to become a freelance instructor as I’d spent my whole adult career in Dubai predominantly freelancing, so it felt like the right time to found my own company. I had been to many studios in London and New York that just had something about them, and without fail always made me feel so excited to visit – I wanted that for myself and I wanted that for Dubai. I took everything I had learned in my life so far, put pen to paper, and began making my dream a reality. I think ultimately, it’s not just a workout that people want to experience, it’s a carefully designed space for people to belong, and for people who share the same likes and passions; to feel seen as part of a community. At POSTURE. we hand-selected all of our equipment and décor from all around the globe to ensure we were different and catered to the luxury clientele. We were selective with the instructors we hired; the schools they had qualified from, their energy, their overall vibe and their aesthetic. We partnered only with brands that we felt on-brand with – ethically and aesthetically. We curated our music/ playlists to suit our routines to give a little extra flare to our classes (increasing their stamina both physically & mentally, as well as including cognitive learning by moving to the tempo of the beat making Pilates a fun and fresh workout) and we have designed and created POSTURE. Merchandise to further strengthen our brand. The space included practicing a slice of wellness in our everyday schedule – from our breathwork at the start of every class, to our wellness club workshops in sound healing & Yin meditation, to ending on our signature affirmation cards to finish our practice together in every session. It ALL matters – every little detail as that’s what makes us who we are as a brand.
      What lies at the core of POSTURE. and at the DNA of the brand?
      POSTURE. is essentially a community for like-minded people to escape their realities and connect with their inner selves. Whether their workouts are more active and fast-paced, or relaxing and meditative, POSTURE. is for people who appreciate being in an environment surrounded by luxuries. POSTURE. is all about getting to know your body and its boundaries and cultivating that all-important Qi. Our studio’s method focuses not just on the strength & mobility of the Pilates repertoire but building your form and core too. I talk about Cultivating the Qi a lot in my sessions, as it is something in the last year I had researched and explored when physically, I needed it.
      What are the key benefits of Reformer Pilates?
      The Reformer accommodates a full range motion, using your body weight against the resistance of the springs and carriage; making this a unique full-body workout providing a strong focus on core strength + muscle engagement which improves performance, weight loss, balance, back pain plus our favourite POSTURE. At POSTURE. we split our classes into two levels to cater for all which includes the reformer flow for beginners and an intermediate level. It’s best for those new to the reformer and those that require an introduction to the principles of Pilates at a slower and controlled pace. It’s designed to tone, lengthen and strengthen and reinforce the importance of a strong core and great posture. The next level is reformer tempo for an intermediate and advanced level. It’s best for those familiar with the reformer plus the principles of Pilates, who can keep up with the pace and be ready to work up an up- beat sweat to the beat of our curated playlists. The benefits range from increasing both physical and mental stamina and raising everyone’s Pilates techniques to the next level.

      As a next-generation Pilates instructor, what are the basic skills you want to instill in your students?
      All of our instructors have their own groove and style to enhance the collective passion for wellness, fitness, and spiritualism. We want to bring a fresh holistic energy to Mat & Reformer Pilates – introducing the core values of Joseph Pilates’ repertoire on the Mat, and one that compliments their practice with the Reformer too. Our studio focuses not just on the flow of the Pilates repertoire, but building your form and core; and one that honours your practice with your daily well-being too. Our routines are designed to activate that all-important parasympathetic phase of relaxation that we all need more of, certainly living up to POSTURE.’s ethos of a mind-body-soul experience, that focuses on getting to know your body and its boundaries and cultivating that all-important Qi.
      What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
      Passion and drive are everything over base-level talent. There are millions of people in the world doing the same job, but what makes you different is your unique passion and drive in what you do. Ultimately, people buy into you as a person, over your qualifications. What makes you different is that you need to keep asking yourself to drive yourself to do better and be better.

      This is The Reset Issue – how can we reset from the inside out?
      “Not only is health a normal condition, but it is our duty to not only to attain it but to maintain it.” – Joseph Pilates.
      A famous quote from the man himself. I believe everyone should take time to learn and become aware of themselves and their daily habits. Being mindful and practicing wellness in your everyday life will really impact the way you live. I work with many clients that suffer with poor posture – most suffering from ‘popular’ back issues like Sciatica/Kyphosis and wonder why. If we carry ourselves in a way of poor posture, it can distort how our body should be feeling. We start to hunch our shoulders, look down at the floor more, feeling negative – instead of opening up our shoulders, walk- ing proud and have a positive look on life. If we constrict our body due to bad posture, it not only affects the way we walk, our nervous system, digestive system and even joints are affected causing them to shift their position and change. Over time, this shows in your everyday life in how you carry yourself. @thisisposture_

      Dubai’s LPM Restaurant & Bar becomes the first to introduce a four-day workweek

      With the restaurant business known for its tedious long hours, LPM Restaurant & Bar has taken the first step to bring about changes in the industry.
      As a means to improve world culture, this fine-dining haven has introduced a permanent four-day working week for staff without salaries being lowered, making this a revolutionary shift in the hospitality sector.

      The official shift was confirmed by Bloomberg with LPM’s regional chief who emphasised on the importance of making the hospitality sector a more inviting place to work.
      Per the latest schedule, the three-day weekend will be given to front-and back-of-house staff and operational staff will continue to remain on a five-day working week for now at the same salary in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
      After opening in 2010, this restaurant has established itself with immaculate attention to detail from its interiors to each and every dish. Inspired by the French Riveria, the restaurant uses the finest ingredients and had recently undergone refurbishment to open just in time for the 2022 festive season with its classic selection of sought-after dishes.

      By taking a bold new step, LPM plans to introduce this new working hours system to other locations in the region.

      In pics: 10 heartfelt Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid moments throughout the years

      Today, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates celebrates 17 years as Ruler of Dubai.
      Since January 4, 2006, Sheikh Mohammed has turned Dubai into a beacon of hope through his profound leadership skills and remarkable feat over the year. He has always been a source of inspiration for many in the UAE and across the globe throughout the years.
      As the Dubai Ruler marks a milestone in his career, we look back on some of His Highness’ special moments over the years.
      Family man at heart
      While Sheikh Mohammed is one of the key figureheads of this nation, he’s also a family man at heart, particularly when it comes to spending time with his grandchildren. His Highness is regularly seen doting on his grandchildren.
      To mark the end of Ramadan, during Eid Al Fitr, this year, the Dubai Ruler was at a family gathering with 23 of his grandchildren in a photo posted by his son, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.

      True people person

      Time and time again the Dubai Ruler has proven he’s very in touch with his people. A perfect example of this was when he surprised a group of students at Expo 2020 Dubai earlier this year.
      In a video shared on Instagram, the group of schoolchildren were lined up posing for a photo, but what they were unaware of was that His Highness was standing right behind them. The footage, shared by Khalifa Saeed on Instagram, showed the children being treated to a royal surprise. His Highness then took the time to have a chat with the students.
      Changing lives

      Being the compassionate individual he is, the Dubai Ruler is always ensuring he helps those who are less fortunate.
      In February 2021, Sheikh Mohammed pledged Dhs8 million to Massar Mundharr and her daughter who was suffering from a degenerative disease and needed urgent treatment. The little girl was diagnosed with type 2 spinal muscle atrophy which leads to the motor neuron nerve cells in the brain which enable the body to speak, walk, breathe, talk and more. Mundar and her husband were told by doctors at Al Jalila Hosptial that His Highness had agreed to cover Laveen’s medical costs.
      When he met his biggest fan

      Four years ago, in January 2017, the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award ceremony was held at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
      Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum presented policewoman Halima Al Matroushi the award for Best Administrative Employee. However, chose not to receive the award herself. Instead, she let her mother take her place up on stage.
      Al Matroushi’s mother has always dreamt of meeting Sheikh Mohammed, so when her daughter realised it was a possibility, she gave her the opportunity.
      Advocating young talent
      Sheikh Mohammed has consistently championed young talent in the region.
      In 2020, His Highness sent a heartfelt message to an Emirati student who has graduated from university.
      The Ruler of Dubai first met student Fatima Ahmad Bin Bakhit Al Nuaimi four years ago, posted the sweet message on Twitter.

      “I had laid a kiss on my daughter’s head in 2016 as she ranked first at the state level in the reading challenge,” His Highness said. “Yesterday, my daughter Fatima Al Nuaimi graduated from Abu Dhabi New York University with distinction.
      “Congratulations. The country flourishes with you, thrives in reading and rises with knowledge.”
      Along with the message, Sheikh Mohammed shared two photos – one of their first meeting in 2016 and one of Al Nuaimi’s recent remote graduation.
      Looking to space
      At the start of December 2017, he put the call out for young people who were keen to be the first Emiratis in space.
      “The people of the UAE will break new barriers; nothing can stand in the way of those who believe nothing is impossible,” Sheikh Mohammed wrote on Instagram. “Our ambitious goals are fuelled by dedicated people, who support us until, without hesitation or scepticism, we succeed.”
      His Highness has gone on to spearhead the UAE making a mark in space, in particular with the Emirates Mars Mission where the Hope Probe entered the planet’s orbit in February 2021.
      Royal friends

      Back in 2017, Sheikh Mohammed met with the UK’s Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Windsor Endurance Race, and from the looks of things, they had a great time together. At the time, the Dubai Media Office said the pair of royals discussed “historic ties, friendship, and cooperation between the UAE and the United Kingdom”.
      A helping hand
      Throughout the years, Sheikh Mohammed has ensured offering humanitarian aid is a big priority for the UAE.
      In 2020, after the catastrophic explosion in Lebanon leaving around 300,000 people homeless and many injured, His Highness ordered 30 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies to be sent immediately on his personal aircraft in response to the devastating blast.

      Looking to the future
      In August 2020, the Ruler of Dubai opened a new medical research centre has opened in Dubai that not only studies COVID-19, but also other communicable diseases. The Dhs300 million centre aims to study an array of diseases including diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, obesity and more.

      Praising the women of the nation
      Honouring women across the UAE, the Ruler of Dubai issued a message in August 2020.
      Posting a video to his 10.3 million Twitter followers which paid tribute to Emirati women, he expressed his pride towards every female from the UAE.
      “To the Emirati women, you worked hard, you accomplished and prove to the world who you are,” he said. “[We are] proud of you, proud of your partnership in the development process, we raise our heads with your achievements. Every year you are better and more beautiful.”

      From internationally acclaimed chefs to renowned names from around the world, Emirates Woman has gathered a list of all the restaurants which have come out stronger despite the circumstances.
      Zuma

      After opening in 2008, here in DIFC, Zuma has indeed stood the test of time as the restaurant has won numerous accolades and gained recognition worldwide. Having stayed relevant to date, this culinary haven has made a mark in the food industry with staple dishes, that are loved by all. This fine-dining concept always aims to serve the highest quality products in a sophisticated environment as guests gather to share their passion for food. Located in Gate Village 6, DIFC, it’s open from daily from 12pm to 3:30pm and Saturday to Wednesday 7pm to 12pm and Thursday and Friday 7pm to 1am.

      Opening in 2010 as one of the most anticipated new restaurants in the emirate, this restaurant has established itself with painstaking attention to detail that has gone into creating each and every dish. Having recently refurbished its interiors, La Cantine du Fauboug is back and with a host of events and a stunning alfresco terrace.       After opening its doors in 2011, Toro Toro soon became a luxury culinary concept with a menu establishing flavours from every corner of South America. While offering a stylish yet relaxed dining experience, this restaurant became the first of its kind in the emirate.       22 incredible women Emirates Woman championed in 2022

      Year after year, Emirates Woman is proud to share the stories of many inspirational women from across the region and beyond and 2022 was no different.
      From philanthropic royals to budding entrepreneurs, these women show there is no hurdle too big to overcome and no challenge which can’t be solved.
      As a team, we take pride in being able to champion these incredible individuals.
      As 2022 comes to a close, we take a look at 22 influential women Emirates Woman championed throughout the year.
      Her Highness Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

      This year, Her Highness Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has made it her mission to support an array of different local initiatives in the fashion and creative space. The daughter of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended a number of showcases and exhibitions to show her support and learn about local artisans from the region including the Icons Exhibition, the 50th edition of the Watch and Jewellery Show Middle East in Sharjah, the Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards, Dubai women’s empowerment event and more.
      Her Highness Sheikha Sana Al Maktoum

      Her Highness Sheikha Sana Al Maktoum took a huge leap in 2020 launching her eponymous fine jewellery brand – Sana Al Maktoum Fine Jewellery. Then, in 2021, she made the brave decision to show the face behind her label for the very first time on the cover of Emirates Woman’s April 2021 issue. This year, however, has been a big year for Sheikha Sana’s philanthropic ventures. The down-to-earth sheikha has worked closely with local communities this year in Dubai including hosting a lunch for underprivileged children, opening a new breast cancer centre in a Dubai hospital, meeting with elderly members of the community and more.
      Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Al Maktoum

      Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Al Maktoum is no stranger to breaking records in the UAE, having become the first Emirati woman to join the Dubai Police as a helicopter pilot back in 2019. Earlier this year, our former November 2020 cover star broke another record in the world of aviation, becoming the first female to pilot the AW609 tiltrotor, an air vehicle which combines the operational versatility of a helicopter and the performance of an aeroplane. Her Highness piloted the groundbreaking aircraft at the US helicopter headquarters of Leonardo, a global high-tech player in Aerospace, Defence and Security, located in Philadelphia.
      Her Highness Sheikha Shamma Al Nahyan

      In 2022, Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan became the first GCC woman to be appointed into a global and prestigious position. Per the Abu Dhabi Media Office, Her Highness was appointed as one of the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center women leaders in the Energy and Climate Fellowship Program. Sheikha Shamma also graduated from Cambridge University this year, and also attended a number of events across the UAE in relation to sustainability and development.
      Wdeema Almheiri

      Emirati content creator Wdeema Al Mheiri has had an incredibly successful year appearing on her first magazine cover, opening her own beauty salon with her sisters and doing her first on-camera interview. For Emirati Women’s Day this year, Al Mheiri shared how she hopes to inspire future generations.
      “We have all seen Emirati women time and time again achieve their goals against all odds which is so inspiring to see as a younger Emirati woman,” she said.
      She also hopes she can be a source of inspiration for future generations, showing that there is no dream too big to pursue.
      “I hope to inspire women to take a leap of faith and to trust in their ability to achieve their dreams,” she said.
      Nora, Sarah & Dana Al Ramadhan

      For the better part of the last decade, Kuwaiti sisters Nora, Sarah and Dana Al Ramadhan have created their very own beauty empire right here in the GCC. Noticing a huge gap in the beauty space here in the Middle East, the trio launched Apotheca Beauty back in 2013, aiming to help new brands break into the region. Normally known to be the brains behind the scenes of the brands, the sisters appeared in their first-ever cover shoot in 2022. It’s a milestone that’s a big step for Nora, Sarah and Dana, who are normally championing and sharing other brands’ stories. But for The Pioneer Issue, we couldn’t think of three individuals better to share their story of building a business from the ground up, with a simple vision in mind: to bring the best in beauty to the GCC, thereby changing the landscape of the space in this region.
      Taleedah Tamer

      Taleedah Tamer first made history back in July of 2018, as the first Saudi model to walk the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. Four years on, Tamer graced the cover of our November issue for which we partnered with iconic French fashion house Louis Vuitton.
      Dr. Barbara Sturm

      For our final cover of 2022, we were proud to partner with global skin guru Dr. Barbara Sturm. In our exclusive interview with her, we discussed what it takes to build and scale without compromising on quality. After launching her eponymous line in 2003, followed by a full skincare line in 2014, Dr. Sturm – or known as BB to her nearest and dearest – has become a pioneer in the beauty sphere, with her renowned anti-inflammatory philosophy approach to skincare.

      Appearing on our September 2022 cover, Salama Mohamed is an exceptional example of what it means to be an entrepreneur, combining both strength and femininity to build her platform and beauty brand, which celebrated its first anniversary this year.
      Fatma Almheiri

      Fatma Al Mheiri is an individual who wears many hats. With both a creative and business acumen, she not only heads up PR at Museum of the Future, one of the most iconic landmarks in Dubai, but she’s also an entrepreneur and creative.This year for Emirati Women’s Day, she pays tribute to her country and the UAE leaders who are consistently empowering women to do more and achieve their goals.
      “I’m proud to be a woman of the UAE because our leaders helped us believe in ourselves in everything we aspire to do,” she said.
      Zeynab El-Helw

      Dubai-based entrepreneur and content creator Zeynab El-Helw appeared on the cover for our July/August 2022 issue. As the founder of socially conscious brand Reborn, she shared with us how she combines sustainability and style.
      Diala Makki

      Emirates Woman was proud to start 2022 with a bang welcoming Diala Makki as our cover star for The Confidence Issue. With a focus on health and wellness, the Dubai-based journalist and presenter shared with us her fitness journey and how she channels confidence. “Confidence is a state of mind and you only reach it when you appreciate your flows and listen to your needs physically, mentally and spiritually. Don’t compare yourself to others, work constantly on becoming a better version of yourself,” she told us.
      Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi

      Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi is a leader in the publishing space. From being the founder and CEO of Kalimat Group to being the first Arab woman to become president of the International Publishers Association, Sheikha Bodour is leading the way for women both in the region and on a global scale. In our November issue, Sheikha Bodour shared with us how she created a niche in the UAE publishing space.
      Ingie Chalhoub

      Ingie Chalhoub is a trailblazer when it comes to business and luxury. Responsible for launching the very first Chanel boutique in the region, she has carved out an impeccable career.
      So, what’s her secret to success? “My success lies in understanding the importance of bridging the gap between the East and West,” she plainly said.
      As a true innovator and disruptor, Emirates Woman sat down with the Founder and Managing Director of Etoile Group to learn more about her business acumen and what exactly inspired her to become an entrepreneur for our September issue.

      “Your fresh air is the team you choose to work with, without them you’re just another person with an idea,” she previously told Emirates Woman.
      Amna Banihashem

      By her own admission, Amna Banihashem is a “jack of all trades”. A mechanical engineer by profession with a Master’s in Moral Economy and Sustainability, a businesswoman and a philanthropist, it’s safe to say Banihashem can’t be pigeon-holed, as we learned when talking with her for Emirati Women’s Day 2022.
      However, what is her true passion and calling is horses. As an award-winning equestrian rider, Banihashem is one of the most decorated showjumpers in the region having ridden for both His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
      Sarah Alagroobi

      Artist, designer and educator Sarah Alagroobi is an individual offering insight and igniting new conversations in the region, which she highlighted with us for Emirati Women’s Day this year.
      “I don’t really view myself as a person who is breaking down stereotypes,” she said. “I think I have been blessed to be given the privileges and the knowledge, understanding and education to be able to provide a counter-narrative to the existing narrative in the UAE’s landscape.”
      Her Highness Princess Fahda Bander Abdullah Al Saud

      Inspired by adventure and experiences, Her Highness Princess Fahda Bander Abdullah Al Saud founded The Traveling Panther (TTP) in 2015. What initially started as a blog quickly turned into an experienced-based travel consultancy through which Princess Fahda, along with her co-founder Manayer AlSharekh, has been able to share her love for adventure with many others around the world. Emirates Woman sat down with Her Highness to find out more about TTP and her love for travel for our September issue.
      Alia Al Banna

      Appearing in our video series for Emirati Women’s Day, Alia Al Banna, co-founder and general manager of RollDXB, shared her pride to be a woman from the UAE.
      “Being an Emirati woman taught me to be brave and to have the courage to seek the unknown and the impossible,” she said. “I definitely agree with Sheikha Fatima’s word – Emirati women don’t fit a box.”
