‘It made me sad’: Bella Hadid’s regret at not growing up in a Muslim culture

    Lifestyle

    by Olivia Morris

Bella Hadid proudly embraces her Arab heritage any chance she gets, however, the supermodel has shared her regrets about not growing up in Muslim culture.
In a recent interview with GQ discussing her debut acting role on the HBO series Ramy, the 25-year-old about her formative years and the difficulties she faced being “the only Arab girl in her class”.
Born in Washington D.C. to her Palestinian father Mohamed Hadid and Dutch mother Yolanda Hadid, Hadid relocated to California when she was just four years old with her siblings, Gigi and Anwar, and their mother after her parents divorced.

The model admits that a lot of her Palestinian side of the family lived in Washington DC, where she was born, but she was “extracted” from that when she moved to the west coast of the USA.
“I would have loved to grow up and be with my dad every day and studying and really being able to practice, just in general being able to live in a Muslim culture,” she admitted in the interview. “But I wasn’t given that.”
In fact, growing up just outside of Los Angeles in Santa Barbara, she felt like a part of her “was missing”.
“I was never able to see myself in anything else, so I tried to just sit back,” she said. “For so long I was missing that part of me, and it made me really, really sad and lonely.”

Despite not growing up surrounded by the influence of her father’s side of the family, Hadid proudly champions her Arab heritage and consistently advocates for the rights of Palestine.
“I speak about [this stuff] for the elderly that are still living there that have never been able to see Palestine free, and for the children that can still grow up and have a beautiful life,” she told GQ.
Hadid’s father himself is a refugee from Palestine. He’s previously shared how he doesn’t have “a single picture of me [as] when I was a baby I was just about 9 days old when I and my family were refugees to the refugee camps in Syria from Palestine”. After receiving Jordanian citizenship, the property tycoon relocated to the US where he has resided for a number of years.
Back in 2020, the model paid tribute to her heritage by getting two tattoos in Arabic script which acknowledge her Palestinian background from her father’s side of the family.

Chrissy Teigen has announced she is pregnant with husband John Legend, two years after her heartbreaking miscarriage.
The 36-year-old took to Instagram to share photos of her growing bump saying that “joy has filled our home and hearts again”.
“The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again,” she said.

“I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing.”
Teigen and Legend already have two children – Luna, six, and four-year-old Miles.

Turkish actor Kerem Bürsin defends ex Hande Erçel on social media

    Lifestyle

    by Sarah Joseph

Hande Erçel is one of the most popular actresses in Turkey with a huge legion of adoring fans.
But having such a huge following unfortunately also comes with its setbacks, mainly from online trolls.
However, the actress’ ex-boyfriend Kerem Bürsin has come to the defence of his former girlfriend, condemning online haters for targeting the actress.

I think anyone, whether it be a supporter or not writing hateful comments towards women including Hande as well, is behavior I do not and never will support. When I catch this type of crapI write a message asking and telling them to please stop. We don’t need hate in this world🤷🏼‍♂️
    — Kerem Bürsin (@KeremBursin) July 2, 2022

Responding to a fan on Twitter at the beginning of July who asked about “daily hatred” directed towards women, the former Sen Çal Kapimi star explained hateful comments directed towards women, including his ex-girlfriend, is behaviour he would “never support”.
“I think anyone, whether it be a supporter or not writing hateful comments towards women including Hande as well, is behavior I do not and never will support,” he said. “When I catch this type of crapI write a message asking and telling them to please stop. We don’t need hate in this world.”
    The breakup
Erçel and Bürsin called it quits at the beginning of 2022.

The couple met on the set of Sen Çal Kapimi (You Knock On My Door) in 2020 and rumours of their off-screen relationship quickly became the talk of the town.
The pair went on to confirm their romance in April 2021 whilst they were on holiday in the Maldives. However, the pair quietly went their separate ways at the beginning of this year.
While no official announcement about their split was released, Erçel removed all traces of her ex from her Instagram page and she also unfollowed Bürsin on the social media platform.
However, it’s clear that despite their relationship not lasting, they don’t have a bad word to say about one another.

Kylie, Kim K call out controversial Instagram update: ‘Stop trying to be TikTok’

    Lifestyle

    by Olivia Morris

If you’re an avid social media user, you’ll be well aware of the recent updates to Instagram and if you’re not, in short, the app has seemingly become remarkably similar to its competitor TikTok.
The interface of Instagram and scroll option has largely stayed the same since its launch back in 2013 and has first and foremost been a photo-sharing app.
However, the recent update has seen the layout change to prioritising video – namely Instagram Reels, which launched in 2020 – just like TikTok.
It’s a change which hasn’t been welcomed by the Instagram community with two of its biggest users, Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, calling out the controversial update.
Both the beauty entrepreneurs and sisters reshared a post on the social media platform, criticising Instagram for “trying to be TikTok”.

“Make Instagram Instagram again (stop trying to be TikTok. I just want to see cute photos of my friends). Sincerely, everyone,” the message read.
It’s not the first time Jenner has spoken out against social media updates with it then having a huge knock-on effect.
The beauty mogul was previously an avid Snapchat user, but back in 2018, she admitted she didn’t use it anymore following its redesign. Subsequently, Snapchat’s stock dropped eight per cent in one day and it reportedly lost a market value of over $1 billion.
Given both Jenner and Kardashian have huge followings – 361 million and 326 million, respectively – speaking out is bound to have some sort of response, and indeed it appears it has.
Following the two sisters’ criticism over the updates, Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, took to Twitter to share a video addressing the backlash admitting the new design wasn’t “good yet”.

👋🏼 There’s a lot happening on Instagram right now.
I wanted to address a few things we’re working on to make Instagram a better experience.
Please let me know what you think 👇🏼 pic.twitter.com/x1If5qrCyS
    — Adam Mosseri (@mosseri) July 26, 2022

He also insisted that Instagram would “continue to support photos”. “It’s part of our heritage,” he added. “You know I love photos. I know a lot of you out there love photos too.”
However, moving forward he did admit Instagram would become more video-centric.
“That said, I need to be honest — I do believe more and more of Instagram is going to become video over time,” he said.
So, despite the criticism, it seems the TikTok-era of Instagram is well and truly here to stay.

‘Love is patient, 20 years patient’: JLo’s beautiful words about Ben Affleck

    Lifestyle

    by Team Emirates Woman

Two decades ago, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were the golden couple of Hollywood.
Dubbed ‘Bennifer’ by the press, the world was enamoured by their love story. However, it wasn’t one that was meant to be – or so we thought.
The couple were set to wed on September 14, 2003, however, their impending marriage was postponed to what was cited at the time as “excessive media attention”. Four months later, in January 2004, Bennifer had called it quits.
However, little did everyone know this wouldn’t be the final chapter in Bennifer’s love story.
    Image: On The JLo
Much to the surprise of many, JLo and Affleck rekindled their romance in April 2021, becoming engaged for the second time the following April. And now, the couple have officially made it down the aisle, nearly 20 years after their first nuptials were due to take place.
Announcing the union to her fans, JLo shared some beautiful words to depict her love and marriage to Affleck.
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” she said.
Finally getting their ‘happily ever after’ together after 20 years, the couple wed in Las Vegas over the weekend at the A Little White Wedding Chapel, which is “exactly what we wanted”, JLo explained.
Waiting in line with four other couples, the pair were ready “for the world to recognize us as partners and declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage”.

“When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is one another and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving and good to one another,” she told her fans in her newsletter. “We had that. And so much more. Best night of our lives.”
She continued: “They were right when they said, ‘all you need is love’. We are so grateful to have that in abundance, a new wonderful family of five amazing children and a life that we have never had more reason to look forward to.”
The singer signed off her letter saying, “Love is a great thing, maybe the best of things – and worth waiting for. With love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially husband and wife!
Finally getting their ‘happily ever after’ together after 20 years, the couple wed in Las Vegas over the weekend at the A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.
In a court filing obtained by E! News, it appears JLo has legally changed her name to ‘Jennifer Affleck’.
Giving fans an exclusive glimpse inside their nuptials, the singer shared a series of phone snaps from the ceremony in her ‘On the JLo’ newsletter. The new bride also shared a few details about the wedding, much to our delight.
“So with the best witnesses you could ever imagine, a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives,” JLo detailed in the newsletter. “They even had Bluetooth for a (short) march down the aisle.”
The 52-year-old described it as “the best possible wedding we could have imagined… one we dreamed of long ago… at very, very long last”.
Take a sneak peek inside the wedding below.

    Second chances
JLo and Affleck, known as ‘Bennifer’, announced their second engagement back in April of this year, nearly two decades after they were due to wed the first time.
The singer herself confirmed the news via her fan newsletter in a short video which showed a tearful admiring a gorgeous green diamond ring on her engagement ring finger.

OMG! I finally got the #onthejlo email! I am so FREAKING HAPPY for you @JLo !! So happy for Ben, you and your families! True LOVE & real LOVE does exist and you both found it in each other!! Thank you for sharing this very personal video with us all! LOVE YOU @BenAffleck @JLo pic.twitter.com/1xxBIC6qQp
    — Becky 💍 (@JLoLover4Life) April 9, 2022

The engagement comes a year after the pair began dating in April last year and nearly 20 years after the pair were set to wed for the first time in the early 2000s.
JLo and Affleck, dubbed ‘Bennifer’ at the time, first began dating in July 2002  after meeting on the set of Gigli in 2001. The couple’s relationship was heavily publicised and a somewhat media storm at the time.
The pair became engaged for the first time in November 2002. Affleck proposed with a pink diamond ring reportedly worth an eye-watering $2.5 million.
Bennifer were set to marry on September 14, 2003, but was postponed due to what was cited at the time as “excessive media attention” surrounding the nuptials. Four months later in January 2004, they announced they had split.

Affleck went on to marry actress Jennifer Garner in 2005 but split up in 2018. The pair have three children together.
Meanwhile, Jlo went on to marry Marc Anthony in 2004, with whom she has two children. The pair divorced in 2014 after 10 years of marriage. Most recently, JLo was engaged to former professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez. They began dating in 2017 and became engaged in 2019. However, the couple announced their split in April 2021.
It’s clear that Bennifer are proof that second chances do exist.

Ivana Trump, the first wife of Donald Trump, has died aged 73.
The former President of the USA paid tribute to his ex-wife via his social media platform, Truth Social.
“I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City,” he said. “She was a wonderful, beautiful and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life.
“Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest in peace, Ivana!”
It was reported the socialite was found at the bottom of a staircase unconscious and unresponsive in her New York City home.
Ivana’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, shared a tribute to her mother following her passing on Instagram.

“Heartbroken by the passing of my mother. Mom was brilliant, charming, passionate and wickedly funny,” she said. “She modelled strength, tenacity and determination in her every action. She lived life to the fullest — never forgoing an opportunity to laugh and dance. I will miss her forever and will keep her memory alive in our hearts always.”
    The life of Ivana Trump
Ivana – née Ivana Zelníčková – was born in the Czech Republic, previously Czechoslovakia, in 1949.
In her 20s, Ivana eventually relocated to Canada where she worked as a ski instructor and then as a model.
