    Emirates Woman thinks globally and supports locally.
    On October 10, 2024, we hosted the Emirates Woman, Woman of the Year Awards 2023 to honour the prolific women of the region and here’s how it unfolded:
    The Awards
    As the region’s leading women’s fashion and lifestyle brand and with more than over 40 years at the forefront of publishing in the Middle East, we remain dedicated to championing and supporting the incredible women of the region and beyond. The event returned this year to shine a light on the women whose outstanding achievements in their respective fields align with the values we hold dear: integrity, authenticity, excellence, and grit.
    The Event 
    Winners were announced at the event held at the One&Only One Za’abeel, Dubai. The black-tie event was an intimate occasion. The evening was hosted by MC Rosemin Opgenhaffen, and guests included Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District, Ingie Chalhoub, Founder and President, Etoile Group, Amina Taher, Vice President Brand, Marketing, & Sponsorships at Etihad Airways (previous) and Founder, AT The Agency and Sheikha Al Mheiri, Entrepreneur and Founder, MAD Hospitality.

      Michele Barclay, Founder of BROWZ, speaks to Emirates Woman about designing her personal space and how it reflects her personality.
      How long have you been in this space?
      We have lived in this home for five years now. During that time, we have re-designed it many times.
      Have you custom-built any bespoke pieces?
      We custom-designed our living room sofa to be extra-large and deep enough for us all to lounge in complete comfort. The kitchen sofa was also custom-built in white linen with a concrete base. The original grey tiles in the living area were changed to wooden flooring, to give a more grounding warm feel and the stairs were carpeted. We also opened the kitchen by adding in large sliding doors to enhance the natural light and bring the garden in.
      How do you think the interior buys reflect you?
      A Zen-like space that is minimal and flowing. White gives a sense of lightness of being and a place to fully recharge and totally switch off. The clean lines provide focus on the key pieces while providing a place to enjoy Pilates and meditation.
      Describe your taste in three words.
      Minimal, spacious, grounding.
