Think of it as eating mabele, brown rice with lentils or samp and beans (otherwise known as umnqgusho) which are all low GI carbohydrates.“You can literally have the bread for breakfast, lunch and supper,” remarks Tshukudu. “This is the reality for most South Africans – we are a nation that eats a lot of bread.
