As someone who’s constantly writing about fashion and styling, a lot of my hours are spent perusing for clothes online. I could tell you just about everything that’s available at major retailers every season—and favorites are chosen pretty quickly. They’re the pieces I find myself styling in a leggings article and a workwear feature and in a trend article, which means they fall within our definition of a closet staple—so it’s extra exciting when they go on sale.
It’s no secret that the very best way to build a capsule wardrobe is to buy classic items at the end of the season, when their prices are reduced. Once September hits, a camel coat or pair of suede booties are going to be full-price, but as the season transitions into spring (now), those same items are on sale.
