Sheikh Hamdan wants everyone in Dubai to join him on a challenge

With many gearing up in fitness mode for the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2020 season, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council is calling on those in the emirate to take part in a cycle challenge with him.

His Highness made an announcement about Dubai Ride where the entire stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai will be converted to a cycling track on Friday, November 20.

Aligning with the vision of Dubai to transform the emirate into a bicycle-friendly metropolis, this initiative was born.

Dubai residents will be able to cycle along the busy 14-lane highway with two routes; a four-kilometre family ride and a 14km open ride for cyclists of all abilities for those aged 13 or older.

“Dubai endeavours to be among the most active and dynamic cities in the world, and as part of this year’s Dubai Fitness challenge, we’ve launched Dubai Ride on November 20, which will pass through the city’s top landmarks,” Sheikh Hamdan said.

“Join me by registering at dubairide.com.”

In regard to the rules for the event, cyclists should be able to complete at least 4km and will need to bring their own bike and helmet to the event. In addition, participants need to register in advance on dubairide.com and comply with the social distancing rules.

The event will also support Education Uninterrupted to tackle the impact of COVID-19 on the education of children and youth in the UAE.
