As many UAE residents continue to return to the country after being stranded abroad for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conditions for those returning to Dubai have been clarified.
In a checklist from Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management published via the Dubai Media Office Twitter account, residents must ensure they complete the four-step process in order to return.
Firstly, residents must apply for an entry permit via the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA) website in order to begin the process to return.
Then upon their arrival to the airport returning residents must present a valid certificate proving they tested negative for COVID-19 prior to boarding the plane and arriving at the airport.

Residents are also required to download the COVID-19 DXB Smart App.
And lastly, the checklist notes, “The mandatory 14-day quarantine is not required for residents that presented a negative test results certificate at the airport.
This clarification comes after the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, announced UAE residents would no longer need ICA approval to re-enter the country.
It was confirmed that the registration and waiting for approval process has been replaced with pre-approvals being granted without the need to submit an application in order to return to the country.
However, if you’re returning to Dubai ensure you follow the published instructions from the relevant government entities.
