Previously overstaying your residency visa would’ve been met with heavy fines and a ban from entering the UAE in the future, but the latest move from The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) is about to change that for some visa holders.
The grace period for those who violated their end of residency has been extended by three months, and includes those whose visas expired before March 1.
Major General Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, Director General of Foreigners Affairs and Ports at ICA, said that the new extension will be implemented from August 18 until November 17. He added that all fines will be waived and no ban from entering the UAE will be implemented if those who overstayed their visa leave the country.
The Director General revealed that the ICA has taken many exceptional measures to streamline the process of leaving the UAE.The violator will have to complete his procedures in only 3 steps, including obtaining the passport, buying the ticket, &arriving before the date of the trip

Note that if you’re travelling out of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, you have to arrive at the airport six hours before departure. Those flying out of Dubai will need to stop by the deportation centre at the Civil Aviation Security Centre near Terminal 2 48 hours before the flight.
