While there has been a movement ban on entering or leaving Abu Dhabi for the past few weeks, the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee have announced new rules which will allow some to enter the emirate.
Entry into the capital will be permitted for those who undergo a COVID-19 test and receive negative results within the 48 hours prior to arriving in Abu Dhabi.
The test results must be recorded on the Al Hosn App – the UAE app for tracking COVID-19 – or via a text message from where the test took place which is directly linked with the National Screening Programme.

Restrictions on movement in and out of Abu Dhabi have been in place since June 2, although it was announced on Jun 17, those who reside in Abu Dhabi would be able to leave the emirate without applying for a permit.
Movement was also originally banned between regions, but residents of the UAE’s capital are now allowed to move between Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
Similarly, curfew timings between 10pm to 6am were also in place up until recently, but it was announced last week that curfews were to be lifted across the UAE, meaning residents and citizens can freely move 24 hours a day.
All these precautionary measures have been implemented in order to curb the spread of coronavirus.
At present, the UAE has had 47,797 confirmed cases of COVID-19 – 36,411 have recovered and there have been 313 deaths.
