UAE airports have officially reopened to allow limited flights and for passengers in transit, however regularly scheduled inbound and outbound flights are still suspended.
A spokesperson for the National Crisis & Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA), Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, explained transit flights for Etihad, Emirates, Fly Dubai and Air Arabia have been given the green light by the UAE government to resume via Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah airports.
“The decision to resume flights comes after comprehensive assessment of the COVID situation,” he added.
Dr. Al Dhaheri also explained that the country “has taken additional steps towards restoring normalcy by allowing some of the country’s airports to permit the transfer and transit of passengers from other international ports”.

The Chairman of the Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, also welcomed the news of UAE airports reopening.
“We welcome the UAE authorities’ decision to re-open UAE airports for all connecting travellers,” he said in a Twitter post.
This announcement comes after a senior Emirates official announced it’s set to launch more flights, with the aim of reaching 50 destinations during this month, the number of passengers travelling through Dubai airport will slowly and surely increase.
Similarly, Etihad has also been increasing its services out of Abu Dhabi airport. In order to prepare travellers of what their airport experience will be like, the Abu Dhabi Media Office released an informative video last month showcasing “new arrival and departure process of passengers”.
This will include sterilisation gates, protective screens at check-in, heat motion sensors, unmasked tracking, ‘fit to travel’ stickers and more.
