The UAE government has announced all residency visas, Emirates IDs and visitor visas will be valid until the end of the year.
Specifically for UAE residency visa holders — whether inside or outside of the country — the validity of their visas will remain in tact until December 31, 2020 if they were due to expire after March 1, 2020.
The announcement was made by Brigadier General Kamis Al Kaabi, the spokesperson for the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.
“We affirm in the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship our absolute commitment to all segments of society, including citizens, residents, and visitors, and our willingness to receive their inquiries through the communication channels announced on the official website of the authority,” he stated during an online media conference.

Al Kaabi explained the decision was to minimise the impacts of the many precautionary measures implemented in order to contain the spread of coronavirus.
“We are now working on many requests that we have received from expatriate residents and visitors in the country to return to their home countries due to the current conditions,” he added.
At present, the national sterilisation programme is underway throughout the UAE. As a result, Dubai has been placed on a 24-hour lockdown for sterilisation to take place.
All residents in Dubai are to remain at home unless they need to leave for essential items like groceries and medicines. If you do need to leave the house, a movement permit must be obtained.
