Your favourite arthouse cinema in Dubai reopens

Fancy a night at the movies? After weeks of temporary closure, Cinema Akil has reopened it’s doors.

Your go-to for arthouse films, insightful documentaries and events is back in business, coinciding with the UAE’s gradual easing of restrictions put in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19. 

In aim to reduce any risk of contracting coronavirus, the venue has been redesigned to offer a safe viewing experience with a reduced capacity of 30 per cent. Seats have also been rearranged to comply with social distancing measures and rigorous disinfecting procedures will take place daily.

Moviegoers and staff are required to wear a face mask at the cinema will have their temperatures checked before entering Alserkal Avenue.

Screenings are scheduled from Tuesday to Saturday in the evenings, with box office open from 6pm to 9pm. Make sure to grab snacks and Karak at Project Chaiwala which is open from 1pm to 9pm.

Looking for a visual escape? The opening film will be Michael Winterbottom’s , the final film of the series where we will follow British comedic duo, Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.
