The United Arab Emirates is on the verge of a “positive breakthrough”, according to HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During a recent Ramadan Majlis on Wednesday evening, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces sent praise to those who are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 battle, protecting the lives of others.
“God bless you all,” he said. “I would like to thank everyone in this [health] sector in person but please send them all my regards.
“Send my regards to their families and ask them on my behalf to have patience.”
However, His Highness also expressed his sadness due to the affect self-isolation has had on Ramadan, with the majority not being able to visit places of worship, and family gatherings being put on hold due to gathering restrictions to curb the spread of coronavirus.
“We feel sad when we see people unable to go to their different places of worship and it is also sad to see family and friends quarantined but my advice again is to be patient,” he said.
His Highness went on to highlight how the current pandemic has made history in uniting the world to fight against a “common enemy”.
“I believe that for the first time that the entire world has willingly locked themselves [inside their homes] but it is also the first time in history that the entire world agrees and fights a common enemy,” he said.
“So do not worry, we are on the verge of a positive breakthrough. It is true that things will be challenging until then but we will come out of it.
“We are proud in front of the entire world of how we responded to this challenge. Today you are the UAE’s source of pride.”
