The first lady of Oman made her first appearance over the weekend to mark National Omani Women’s Day.
Ahad bint Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Busaidiyah, the wife of Haitham bin Tariq, the Sultan of Oman, hosted a ceremony at Seeb Palace, located in the country’s capital Muscat.
During the royal ceremony, a host of Omani women were awarded the Royal Commendation Medal for the work they do for the country.

Reflecting on the past half a century for women, the first lady of Oman highlighted the education and training women have had access to in the Sultanate which has enabled them to progress in society.
“This enabled them to efficiently participate in the national building process while being armed with knowledge, laws and systems of sound governance that guaranteed their rights and secured their status,” she said during the ceremony.
In particular, the first lady of Oman also praised those women who have been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
