HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has paid tribute to his father, HH Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, on the 30th anniversary of his death.
The late Sheikh Rashid ruled Dubai from for 32 years from 1958 until his death in 1990.
In a statement on Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed revealed his father “was not very talkative but thought a lot”.

“His day began before anyone else and his dreams [ambitions] went beyond his years,” he continued. “He loved his wife, Latifa, and he loved Dubai.
“He was faithful to the Union. He went quietly after he filled the world with the sound of his achievements and this continues.”
HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, also shared a tribute to his grandfather.

His Highness shared a video to mark the 30th anniversary of his death, showcasing some archived footage of the former Ruler of Dubai.
“In remembrance of the 30th anniversary of the passing of one of the greatest leaders, Sheikh Rashed bin Saeed Al Maktoum,” Sheikh Hamdan said. “A leader that created an inspiring vision for Dubai and its people. His achievements and efforts lives on in our hearts and therefore shall never be forgotten.”
