Saudi Arabia reinstates lockdown period in Jeddah

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reinstated a lockdown period in Jeddah due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.

For the next two weeks residents in the city will be required to stay home for 15 hours a day between the hours of 3pm and 6am.

Despite the curfew restrictions, restaurants and food delivery services will be able to continue regular business until 10pm across the Kingdom.

Just like the UAE, Saudi Arabia was previously on stricter curfews, including a 24-hour lockdown period.

However, restrictions in the UAE have recently been lifted with private sector employees being allowed to return to work, beaches reopening and curfew hours being lifted to between 11pm and 6am for Dubai and between 10pm and 6am for the rest of the UAE.

So far Saudi Arabia has had 101,914 confirmed cases of COVID-19 – 28,385 of which are still active cases and there has been 712 deaths in the Kingdom.

As for the UAE, the current total of cases amounts to 38,808 – 16,726 of those are active cases and there has been 276 deaths.
