Rent-free
It’s no secret that many people have hit hard by the knock-on effects of coronavirus.
In a bid to help some of those who are struggling, a UAE-based firm has announced they will be forgoing rent for tenants.
Al-Husn Properties, which has properties in both Dubai and Sharjah, announced all their tenants will go rent free for three months, with General Manager Mustafa Al Husseiny saying it was their “civic duty” to do so.
“It is a part of our civic duty to be with the UAE Government’s efforts to support society and reduce its burden during the current situation,” he said in a statement. “The idea behind this initiative is to encourage other property owners to have a humanitarian approach towards tenants in this time of crisis.”
The decision made by Al-Husn Properties will benefit their 600 tenants which includes those in residential flats, shops, commercial offices, warehouses and car parks.
Tenants have two options they can opt into. They can either request for their cheque deposit date to be postponed, or they can keep paying the full rate meaning tenants would be entitled to a rent discount when renewing contracts.
