Recharge your home with these 5 interior tips

New digs?

There’s no place like home, but if you’ve grown tired of looking at the same four walls and want to gain back that feeling of moving into a new space, then get ready to flex your creative muscles.

To get you started we have asked interior designer over at Dubai-born store Chattels & More’s, Madeleine Lätti, to share with us five simple ways to transform a space. Trust us, next time you step through the door you’ll feel like you’re somewhere else.

Grab a paint brush

A quick and extremely effective way of updating your space completely is by painting a statement wall. A statement wall doesn’t necessarily need to be a bright colour, muted neutral colours of grey and taupe are effective as they are cohesive with a broad range of other colours you may have in the space. However, if you want to bring some life and happiness into your space, try using light paints such as pastel violet and muted yellows.

Frame it

Adding picture frames is an easy way to update your home, let’s be honest, with social media saving all our photos, how many people develop recent photos anymore? There are various ways to use developed photos and prints as an art form to enhance a corner in your living room or bedroom. Whether the picture frames are on the living room console or wall hung in the bedroom, they will create a new visual interesting focal point that updates your space successfully.

Go green

Architecturally interesting plants is a wonderful way of creating interest against a wall. Whether the plants are artificial or real, tall branches with intricate leaves create a dynamic shape against a blank wall that will add significance to the spaces and a definite compliment from any visitor!

Soft touch

An area rug is a simple but filling item to add to any room. It is important to remember that rugs are not limited to a rectangular shape with a pattern. In the modern day, you can find rugs with interesting prints that come in all different shapes. Adding an area rug will enhance warmth in your home and actually change the way that the furniture upon it is viewed as well.

Mirror, mirror

A mirror is an enriching tool that benefits your space in a functional and aesthetic way. There are a range of mirrors for the different design approaches you want to tackle. For example, a large vintage floor mirror leaning against a wall is a nod towards Victorian design. In contrast, a wall hung mirror with an asymmetrical shape or added marble or metal features are representative of a modern eclectic approach.
