Travel in the UAE as we know it has been put on hold since borders closed on March 19.
However, according to a recent report from , plans are in place for the country to reopen its borders.
With Emirates and Etihad both increasing their flight destinations and schedules, Dubai Tourism releasing a video telling tourists we’ll see them soon and travel agencies anticipating international travel from the GCC area will return to a resemblance of normality by August, all signs are pointing towards borders reopening.
The publication claims new documents from Dubai Tourism state borders are preparing to reopen, despite no date having been confirmed.
“Authorities are preparing for a full reopening of UAE’s borders, subject to the removal of travel restrictions by implementing a series of strategic measures in conjunction with their federal counterparts designed to ensure the virus does not enter the emirate through its sea and land ports,” the documents from the Dubai Tourism Trade Toolkit reportedly said.

The documents also state that all visitors will be “welcomed to Dubai in a safe and secure environment” with the new technology implemented including temperature screenings, COVID-19 tests and more, which are all there to prevent the virus from spreading.
“World-class cleaning and disinfection processes across all facilities, attractions and assets to ensure a risk-free experience for tourists in the city are being implemented,” the documents reportedly added.
This revelation comes after Dubai Tourism released a heartwarming video, sending the reassuring message to visitors that the emirate has “been preparing, getting ready, knowing the time to see each other comes closer with every rising sun”.
Interestingly at the end of April, Helal Al Marri, the director-general of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, explained the emirate could start welcoming back tourists this summer in a gradual process for things to return to normality.
