With hotels, malls, restaurants and borders set to open, business as usual is returning to Dubai in the post-lockdown era.
However, one question that has still remained is when schools, universities, colleges and other educational institutions intend to reopen.
Well, in a recent announcement it’s been said the possibility of reopening schools is being looked into.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Education in the UAE, Anoud Abdullah Al-Hajj, outlined some clear guidelines that would be in place for when schools and universities reopen.
Firstly, all students and teaching staff would need to have their temperatures checked, as well as sanitising all areas on a regular basis.
And, just like in malls, restaurants and other establishments, social distancing measures need to be put in place, which would mean reducing the capacity in classrooms.
Additionally, meals are not to be shared by students; assemblies, trips, parties and sports games would have to be limited; and the capacity for buses should be limited to 30 per cent.
The spokesperson also stated that a health officer would need to be posted at every education facility and parents would also need to closely monitor their children’s health and inform the school if any COVID-19 symptoms are present.
As for those with underlying health conditions returning to school or university, this will be monitored on a case-by-case basis.
Despite the guidelines being issued, no firm decision has been made nor has a date been announced as to when children and students may return to face-to-face learning.
