It’s no secret that Emirati YouTuber Khalid Al Ameri loves performing good deeds around the country, whether it’s informing citizens and residents about what’s going on in the UAE, sharing the love he has for his wife, or giving people inspiration to look to during difficult times.
However, the influencer may have just topped himself in the good deed department, as he brought a woman close to his family to tears with a selfless act.
Posting a video to YouTube and Instagram, which was filmed at the end of last year, Al Ameri explained the concept of a Balikbayan box sent back home by Filipinos who live overseas to their family and loved ones.
Boxes can contain anything from non-perishable food, toiletries, household items, electronics, toys, designer clothing and other items difficult to find in the Philippines.
Al Ameri went on to tell his audience about Leila, a Filipino woman who has “been a part of [his] family for the last five years”. As part of an ultimate surprise, as Leila was explaining what she would be sending home to her family in her Balikbayan box, Al Ameri told her that he and his family would be paying for the boxes.
To top it all off, which brought Leila to tears, Al Ameri presented her with a plane ticket home so she could see her family, and deliver the boxes in person, and he would also be accompanying her on the trip.
After a long journey to Mindanao in the Philippines, Leila has an extremely emotional reunion with her family.
Reflecting upon their journey and meeting Leila’s family Al Ameri said, “What was interesting is that when she got there, the box didn’t matter anymore. Everything was about family, everything was about human connection.”
The Emirati YouTuber ended his video on an important note, discussing the millions of Filipinos around the world, and their ability to spread love, happiness and joy.
