Be mindful: radar cameras are in place to catch those who break curfew in Dubai

While the 24 hour curfew in Dubai has now been lifted, the national sterilisation programme is still underway in order to curb the further
spreading of COVID-19. There is currently a curfew in place for residents from 10pm to 6am.

Permits are required for leaving the house between curfew hours, but unless it’s an emergency case it will most likely be rejected.

It has been confirmed by Dubai Police official, Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, to , radar cameras around Dubai have now been reconfigured in line with the current curfew hours in order to catch those who violate the restrictions.

“Radars are controlled by systems adopting artificial intelligence and it can be adjusted based on the orders,” the director of the Traffic Department at Dubai Police said. “We changed the setting of the radars on all internal roads and highways to catch violators between 10pm and 6am.”

Those who break the curfew rules implemented face fines of up to Dhs3,000. There are also other fines the public faces at any time of day. If you are caught without a face mask whilst in public, you could be fined Dhs1,000 and if you have more than three people in your car at any given point, that warrants a fine of Dhs1,000.

While movement restrictions have been somewhat lifted, and malls, restaurants and salons are slowly starting to reopen, it is still encouraged for people to stay home as much as possible.
