The Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi has announced all restaurants in the capital that are located outside the shopping malls must coordinate with authorities and the department in order to reopen.
Like all reopened destinations, restaurants must apply a social distancing policy, hygiene requirements and clear guidelines for employees who exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19.

Restaurants will be allowed to reopen outside malls with up to a maximum of 30 per cent capacity, and a distance of 2.5 metres between tables. However, the ban on hookahs (shisha) will remain in effect.
Hand sanitisers must be provided, and both customers and employees are obligated to wear masks and gloves, but not while eating.
Additionally, all venues must be subject to frequent and thorough sterilisation.
Under the terms of the circular, staff and workers at these facilities who show any symptoms of infection will not be allowed to enter the facility. Serving hookah ‘shisha’ will also remain prohibited in all establishments during this period.
