I Have a Fall Fashion Budget of $200—Here’s What I’m Buying

Hi, I’m Ashley and I am the proud CEO of taking everything too far. If I like a TV show (as evidenced by my experience with The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, and Outer Banks), I’ll rewatch episodes and seasons over and over until I know every line and use them effortlessly in everyday conversation. I love pizza rolls so much that my obsession with them has become a bit of a personality trait. In an effort to learn how to budget and invest, I spent $145 on financial self-help books.
Moderation is not my strong suit, so it’s no surprise that I’ve fallen into the trap of overspending on fall fashion year after year. This season, I’m taking a different approach. Instead of haphazardly and sporadically clicking add to cart over the entire season, I’m allowing myself to purchase everything now (and now only) with the plan to put a chastity belt on my credit card after I hit $200.
After much deliberation, deleting item after item from my list to stay within budget, and searching for my favorite seasonal trends, I’m excited to introduce the items I’m adding to my wardrobe for fall 2020:

    Oversized blazers
I have been obsessing over the blazer trend for so long and am finally pulling the trigger on ordering two for myself this season. I usually wear a small but I’m sizing up to a medium for an oversized look that I can dress up or down. I plan to wear these bad boys a ton and know that one day when things return to normal and office life makes a comeback, I’ll be able to wear them on workdays, too.

    A cozy flannel
Last year, one of my friends allowed me the pleasure to borrow her oversized flannel for a trip to the cider mill. Upon wiggling into it, I promptly fell in love, took it home to wash it, and stared at it on my clothes rack for a little longer than I should have. I considered changing my name, moving out of the country, and starting a life on a small farm so that I wouldn’t ever have to give it back but, alas, my guilty conscious prevailed and I returned it in two business days. This year, I’m buying one of my own so that I can wear it at all times and live my best, sexy lumberjack life.

    A statement bootie
While I consider black booties to be my number one fall staple, I have accumulated so many over the years that I am nearly swimming in them. My goal for this year was to buy a statement heel that I’ll actually wear. Initially, I had my eye on a pair of snakeskin booties but then, I had a better idea. My new and improved plan was to find a pair of white bootie heels that would complement my fall plaid purchases but would still make a bold statement and boom…I found these bad boys:

    A cropped sweater
Sometimes I look at my bank account, wonder why I don’t have as much savings as I should, open my closet door to find a wardrobe bursting at the seams with chunky knit sweaters, and am politely reminded. While I would consider fall sweaters to be one of my 14 love languages, I need to cool it this year out of respect to my bank account. I don’t have many cropped sweaters in my collection and I love these balloon sleeves so I decided on this one:

    A plaid skirt
If there is one shelf in my closet that is particularly empty, it’s the one that I previously allotted for skirts. I found the need for an autumn-friendly skirt two weeks ago when I decided I wanted to dive deep into fall fashion amongst “still too warm to fully embrace fall” temps. I figure that a plaid skirt will be super cute with a cropped or tucked in knit sweater and will help me transition into full-fledged fall fashion.

    Dupe faux leather leggings
Alright, let’s be real… if I had the money, I’d definitely be buying the Spanx faux leather leggings that all of my coworkers gawk over. While they’re at the top of my “to invest in” list, I’m just not yet ready to take the financial plunge. Maybe next year will be my year! For now, I am going to try out these dupe faux leather leggings from Target and manifest winning the lottery for next fall. A foolproof plan, if you ask me. More

UAE residents travelling with Etihad will now have to wear tracking wristbands

It has been announced by Abu Dhabi-based airline Etihad that passengers travelling into the UAE will have to wear tracking wristbands during their 14-day quarantine.
In their announcement, it was confirmed a medically-approved tag will be given to travellers arriving into Abu Dhabi International airport after they clear immigration, whatever country they arriving from.

“On arrival into Abu Dhabi you must self-isolate for 14 days,” the airline’s statement said. “Self-isolation must take place at home and all arrivals will be required to wear a medically approved wristband for this duration.”
There are some people exempt from wearing the tracking device including those who suffer from chronic illnesses and those with diplomatic passports. In addition, those who are under 18 and over 60 will also be exempt. However, they must agree to self-isolate for 14 days by completing a form.

At present, only UAE citizens and residents are permitted to travel into Abu Dhabi by air.
Currently, it’s recommended that residents wishing to return to Abu Dhabi confirm their status via smartservices.ica.gov.ae prior to booking their flights.
Coinciding with the policy of the airlines and travelling into the UAE, passengers must test negative for COVID-19 prior to travel and another test PCR test will be completed upon arrival into the country.
All of these measures are a part of the strategy to combat the spread of COVID-19.

HH Sheikha Intisar explains how a unique therapy method is helping Arab women

September’s – ‘The Power Issue’ – Download Now
Her Highness Sheikha Intisar Al Sabah is not afraid to push boundaries – in fact she doesn’t see any boundaries for Arab women, choosing instead to believe that there should be a support system that allows them to rise, even out of the most traumatic circumstances.
As part of the Kuwaiti ruling family, Her Highness Sheikha Intisar Al Sabah is the founder of Intisar jewellery, Lulua Publishing, skincare line Prismologie and Intisar Foundation. Each may appear to have a different approach, yet they all have the same purpose to improve mental wellbeing.

“Our vision is to transform self-care from an occasional indulgence into a daily ritual and to empower people across the globe to take charge of their wellbeing through colour and scent,” she explains. In the turbulent times that we are going through, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health has never been more important. “COVID-19 has reinforced the demand for human touch, wellbeing, immersive regimes and concepts that boost immunity and all-round health. It has also forced us to see that we all need to take time out both mentally and physically,” Her Highness agrees.

Sheikha Intisar truly believes in the power of the mind and how it can be used for good. This has led her to launch a ground-breaking platform, Intisar Foundation, in 2018 to support women traumatised by war and violence, something she had a close encounter with: “I was a victim of the war in 1990 and I had realised that unless I released any PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) that I suffered I will not be at peace or be kind to people around me. Working on my- self brought strength I did not realise I had inside of me and with it came the ability to lift others after I was able to get myself out of the victim stage to the place where you can be so strong and mentally solid. This realisation led me to start the foundation as the Arab world is the most turbulent region on earth and if there is no catharsis of negative war trauma and healthy empowerment of women the cycle of violence will continue and this is unacceptable.”
Supporting hundreds of refugee women, Intisar Foundation most notably uses drama therapy that helps survivors work through depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder. Not only that but this community-based intervention facilitates “healing and empowerment within some of the most marginalised communities in Lebanon and Jordan.”
The UK- based humanitarian organisation is one of the first in the Middle East to focus on the psychological health of women in a safe and intimate group setting. “Drama therapy is an inclusive, non-stigmatising, easy and engaging form of therapy that guides these women through expressing di cult emotions, becoming vulnerable, and rehearsing healthier behaviours together and in a safe environment. It, therefore, helps them remove shame, guilt, and depression, and achieve a higher level of mental wellbeing and better emotional awareness. A survey carried out after our drama therapy programme in the Shatila Refugee Camp in Beirut revealed that over 68 per cent of participants reported a reduction in PTSD, just over 93 per cent in depression, and 75 per cent in anxiety.”

The foundation is run by women who regularly travel to Lebanon and Jordan to take part in group sessions while also establishing teams of researchers and drama therapists on the ground. The pandemic may have shifted their therapies online with videos of techniques women can implement at home, but the “new normal” has allowed the royal to hit pause on her demanding schedule. “This pandemic made me slow down in some aspects and also look at making bigger, more strategic plans and work towards a bigger picture, thus minimizing my workload.”
Her Highness Sheikha Intisar’s workload does not show any sign of decreasing as she is determined to reach more women with her #OneMillionArabWomen initiative. The 20-year plan strives to train around 600 drama therapists and facilitators to heal one million Arab women who are struggling with trauma through drama therapy because it truly does work. According to their in-house surveys, 78 per cent of participants experienced an increase in self-esteem, and 43 per cent saw an improvement in overall satisfaction with life. And it’s not just the numbers that prove a point, the royal uses some of the methods herself to help her find balance.
“I have been working towards reaching the place I am in now for years. I learned how to use positive psychology to better mental wellbeing and now with Intisar Foundation, I am growing my voice and releasing all shame and guilt to come to a place where only really huge events disrupt me. When they do, I perform gratitude exercises and use tools from drama therapy to get me back to balance.”

We live in uncertain times, forced to take on many elements that are out of our control, but we do have the power to take charge of our lives and our minds. One thing that Intisar Foundation and Her Highness Sheikha Intisar have shown is that we are stronger than we think, especially when we li each other up. “I look at every woman as a powerful woman, some still have not seen their strength but I do and I am inspired by it.”

Mohamed Hadid deletes post after fans speculate Gigi Hadid has given birth

Gigi Hadid is set to welcome her first child with boyfriend Zayn Malik any day now, but fans have been speculating that she may have already given birth.
The model’s dad, Mohamed Hadid, penned a sweet handwritten letter saying, “Hello my little grandchild.”

This had a few fans confused as to whether the 25-year-old has already welcomed her first child, given that her due date is so close.
One person commented asking: “Did Gigi give birth to her baby, please can anyone answer.” However, to put speculation to rest, Mohamed responded saying, “No, not yet.”

However, the post by the 72-year-old property tycoon has now been deleted for reasons unknown.

    — ayesha⁷🥛 CLOWN ERA (@MALIKSCVLT) September 16, 2020

The beautifully handwritten note penned a sweet poem to his new grandchild.
“Hello my little grandchild,” it read. “I wish for you the sun and the moon. Hello little grandchild, it’s me, my heart as happy as can be. I wish for you the sun and moon. I wish for you a happy time.
“Know that Grandpa’s always near, I’ll do anything, anything for you my dear.”
He finished the sweet note writing, “When I heard you were on the way, I smiled and wiped a tear away. I cried the tear because I know, my heart would always belong to you.”

It’s expected that Gigi will give birth to her first child with Zayn in New York City. Late last month, the couple were photographed arriving in Manhattan.
It’s fair to assume the pair are staying in Gigi’s new $5.8 million (Dhs21.3 million) Manhattan apartment, which she gave fans a glimpse of last month.
According to a recent report from E! News, the pregnancy has been good for Gigi and Zayn’s relationship after the couple reunited at the end of last year.
“Zayn and Gigi are really excited and have been loving this experience together,” a source told E!. “They both are reading parenting books, have had fun planning the nursery and picking out items together. Things are going really smoothly, and they are closer as a couple more than ever.”
It’s been reported the couple are expecting a girl, but neither of them has officially confirmed the gender.

How Saudi Arabia is planning to boost tourism in the country

Saudi Arabia has announced a new initiative to encourage travel in the region.
In the Kingdom’s capital Riyadh the Voyagers Association has been launched which will specialise in travel and tourism in the country.

In a press conference on Sunday, it was explained under the initiative there will be seven memberships: a worker membership; associate; voyager; consultant voyager; GCC voyager; emeritus membership and honorary membership.
The latest announcement aligns with the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030, which will aim to facilitate more travel in many different regions of the country.

Elaborating of the goals of the independent entity, Ibrahim Al-Mutairi, chairman of the Voyagers Association said, “Among the goals of the association is to work on organizing the current work of travellers and those interested in the field – which in most cases is nothing more than individual diligence — and to change it into an institutional and more firmly controlled work, in a way that achieves the common goals of individuals and society.”
Earlier this week it was announced that travel restrictions will be lifted in Saudi Arabia for citizens at the beginning of 2021.
Starting January 1, all international travel restrictions which have been implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be lifted, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) announced on Sunday.
Travel via the borders to and from the Kingdom includes via air, land and sea.
Meanwhile, as of this week on September 15, the Kingdom will partially ease restrictions on international flights in order to permit citizens and residents to travel who are in “exceptional circumstances”.
Back in March, Saudi’s borders were closed due to the pandemic and have remained closed since.

Exes & Quarantine: 8 Questions to Ask Yourself If You’re Thinking of Rekindling With an Ex

Maybe it’s the alluring romanticism of The One That Got Away, or maybe it’s the lack of sex in quarantine, but if you’re thinking about getting back together with an ex, you’re not alone. Even though you probably broke up for a legit reason, human beings crave attachment and comfort. During a time that is so uncomfortable, it’s no surprise that you might be considering going back to what feels familiar, or maybe such a scary time has made you realize what’s important and who you want to have in your life. Plus, if you grew up believing that Ross and Rachel would end up together (were they on a break?) or that Big and Carrie were destined to be together (no matter how many times they broke up and got back together), you know that a breakup does not have to mean the end. But how do you know if you two needed to grow and are now ready to have a healthy, happy relationship, or if you are just tired of swiping through Bumble and endless dates over Zoom? Here are eight questions to help you decide if going back to your ex is the right decision for you.

    1. Why did you break up in the first place?
It’s easy to remember the highlight reel of all the good moments, but nothing ends without a reason. Since it’s easier to remember the good over the bad (nostalgia, you bastard!), you’ll most likely romanticize your past relationship instead of remembering the pain it caused you. The reality is that no matter what, we leave relationships for a good reason. Unless that reason is completely resolved (and you have solutions to prevent it moving forward), the same pain will sneak up again if you get back into the same situation. Instead of reflecting on the beginning and middle of the relationship (which is likely a supercut of happy memories), reflect on the end.

    2. Have you truly forgiven your ex?
No matter why you broke up, there’s probably hurt on both sides. You might have trust issues, insecurities, built-up resentment, or all the above. While you’ll need to talk through past issues before you decide to give it another shot (more on that below), you should not bring up those past issues in new disagreements that come up in the future. When you bring up past arguments during new fights, it’s just repeating the cycle that broke you up, and might be a sign you’re not really over what happened in the past. Forgiveness is a process. If you’re not there yet, hold off until you’re ready to forgive them, or ask yourself if your gut is telling you not to forgive them.

    Source: @missalexlarosa

    3. Did you have enough space after the breakup?
Especially when you’re in the same social circle, work together, or just talk to each other frequently, you might not have had enough separation to get used to life without your ex. If you’ve been through breakups before, you know the hardest part of getting over the end of a relationship is often because that person was a part of your routine, like any other habit. Not having enough space from your ex prevents you from moving on because you never get a chance to break that “habit.”
Sure, missing your ex could be a sign that you really should be with them, or it might be a sign that you didn’t give yourself the chance to move on. Try muting or unfollowing them on social media, or ask friends to make separate plans without your ex for a while. If you’ve already spent enough time apart where you should be moving on by now but aren’t, the relationship could be worth trying again.

    4. Have you fully discussed the old issues?
If you’re even thinking about rekindling the romance, first have a conversation with your ex about what went wrong and what you don’t want to repeat. Discuss relationship expectations, define your love languages, and talk about what trust and love truly mean to you. If your ex is quick to sweep things under the rug or act like it wasn’t a big deal, remember that even the smallest things led to the breakup; they are a big deal. Your feelings should be validated, and you should thoroughly discuss what didn’t work last time to make the relationship work this time. Not only should you make sure that the old issues are resolved, but you should also have a “what are we” chat like the beginning of any relationship. Be open about what you both truly want out of the relationship and make sure your values align.

    Source: @missenocha

    5. Will you be OK with it if your friends and family are not on board?
You think you’ve been through ups and downs with your dating history, but remember that your support system goes through the ups and downs with you. Your friends probably cried with you after the breakup, unfollowed your ex on Instagram, and told you how you could do better. Your family might be protective of you, so they’ll want to prevent the hurt you experienced the first time around. Even if you’ve gotten over the past issues with your ex, that doesn’t mean your loved ones have too.
Remember that your friends and family have your best interests at heart, and probably only dislike your ex because of the experience you had with them. Understand where they’re coming from and listen to their advice. If you do decide to get back together, explain to your loved ones what is different this time around and your plan to avoid past conflict moving forward, but don’t expect them to be 100 percent on board right away.

    6. Are you expecting your ex to be a different person?
Sure, some people change, and we’re all growing (or at least, that’s the hope), but here’s the ugly truth: your ex is still the same person. If their actions caused the last breakup (like cheating, emotional unavailability, lack of effort, etc.) or just made you unhappy, remember that they’re still the same person, even if the situation or timing is different. If that is the case and you’re still considering getting back together, you should see a lot more change in your ex than just a promise that it will be different this time around. Bottom line, get back together because you’ve changed (like you’re now truly ready for a relationship), not because you’re hoping that they have.

    Source: @taylranne

    7. Do you miss the person or just the companionship?
Do you sometimes find yourself mindlessly dialing your ex’s number to share a joke you know they’d find funny, or thinking how much you miss the way they laugh? Maybe you miss their stories that went on and on or the way they held your hand when they could tell you were nervous. Or did you only start missing them when your last Zoom date sucked or since you’ve been feeling lonely while staying at home? Maybe you just miss having someone so much that you’re remembering only the good things in your previous relationship. It’s OK to miss those good things, but just because you miss them doesn’t mean they’re worth going back to.
With all the emphasis on being independent women (which we all are), we might sometimes feel ashamed to admit we just want to be in a relationship. But craving companionship isn’t a sign of weakness or dependence; it’s human nature (PSA: you can be a badass independent woman whether you’re in a relationship or not). It’s OK if you are a “relationship person,” but, at the risk of sounding cliché, there are other fish in the sea. And yes, that means fish who won’t give you a reason to break up with them in the first place. Rekindle the flame if you genuinely miss your ex, but not if you just miss the companionship.

    8. How do you feel when you’re with them?
It’s easy to get caught up in how you feel about them, but how do you feel about yourself when you’re with them? Feeling safe, secure, lovable, and like your truest self when you’re around your ex is a sign that getting back together might be the right decision. However, if you feel insecure, jealous, or they make you feel lesser than and undeserving, no amount of loneliness is worth feeling like that again. Remember that life isn’t Friends or Sex and The City. No one’s going to write the finale episode for you, and you don’t have season after season to figure it out. In the end, this is your life, and if your ex did not help you make the most of it back then, they’re not worth wasting time on now.  More
