Rihanna apologises to Muslim community for ‘careless mistake’

Rihanna has issued a public apology to the Muslim community for a “careless mistake” made in her Savage X Fenty fashion show.
Last Friday the fashion show launched on Amazon Prime and one of the songs which was used amongst the set was Coucou Chloe’s 2017 track Doom.

One of the verses in the song it remixes hadith, which is a sacred text in Islam which is a record of sayings of the prophet Muhammad and his companions.
Following the show’s airing, many took to Twitter to share their disappointment in the singer.

as a muslim, no words can describe how disappointed i am with Rihanna for letting her models dance to hadith. Hadith are the sacred words of our prophet, you can’t just use it for your lingerie show. disgusting and extremely disrespectful
    — dee⁷ (@kookdice) October 4, 2020

i can’t let Rihanna have a pass w appropriating Islam like for her first show the models wore a scarf around their heads and it looked like HIJAB and her second show she used a track that remixed a HADITH….why is no one talking about this, my religion is not y’all’s aesthetic
    — . (@reversecocunut) October 4, 2020

On Tuesday, Rihanna issued a public apology on her Instagram thanking the Muslim community for bringing her attention to the mistake and referred to it as a “huge oversight”.
“I’d like to thank the Muslim community for pointing out a huge oversight that was unintentionally offensive in our savage x fenty show,” she said. “I would more importantly like to apologize to you for this honest, yet careless mistake.
“We understand that we have hurt many of our Muslim brothers and sisters, and I’m incredibly disheartened by this!”
The fashion designer and beauty mogul also insisted she does not “play with any kind of disrespect toward God or any religion” and called the use of the song “completely irresponsible”.

“Moving forward we will make sure nothing like this ever happens again,” she added. “Thank you for your forgiveness and understanding, Rih.”
The artist of the song also issued a public apology and said she and her team were “in the process of having the song urgently removed from all streaming platforms”.

Sheikh Mohammed: ‘The UAE is everyone’s country’

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has reaffirmed the that the United Arab Emirates is “everyone’s country”.
His words come after the 12th Annual ASDA’A BCW Arab Youth Survey 2020 results were released today. The survey showed that nearly half of young Arabs were considering leaving their home country, which His Highness said was “painful”.

“It is painful [to know] that half of our Arab resources wish to emigrate,” the Ruler of Dubai said on Twitter. “It is painful when the Arab youth do not find a homeland, safety and livelihood in his homeland.”
Despite this, the survey also revealed that it was the most sought after country for Arabs aged between 18 to 24 – it’s the ninth year in a row the UAE has come out on top.

    — HH Sheikh Mohammed (@HHShkMohd) October 6, 2020

“The poll also indicated that the UAE is the preferred country to live in for 46 per cent of Arab youth, followed by the United States, 33 per cent, then Canada, Britain and Germany,” His Highness said.
“The UAE is everyone’s country and we have tried to build a successful model – our doors and books will remain open to all.”

12 New Beauty Products I’m Shopping at Sephora

When I picture the perfect fall day, it goes like this: wake up and close the window because it’s frigid in my apartment; work out; take a shower so hot my skin turns red (do as I say, not as I do); put on a lovely outfit, do my makeup and hair, all while drinking a piping hot coffee; spend a day in the Everygirl office chatting, writing, and listening to Taylor Swift’s entire discography; head home on the train, only after making a pitstop at the giant Michigan Avenue Sephora in Chicago. I’ll roam the aisles, stocking up on new foundation, a fall lip color, and maybe even something special. Perusing the new beauty launches at Sephora is a pastime of mine regardless of the season, but we all know how it goes by now: everything just feels better in fall. Unfortunately, my expectations of those dreamy fall days aren’t exactly met this year, but that isn’t stopping me from staring at the Sephora site every day and contemplating if I actually need to have an emergency fund. Here’s my wishlist—from new skincare finds perfect for the cold weather to holiday-approved eyeshadow and lip combos.

    Makeup By Mario
    Master Crystal Reflector Highlighter

If you know anything about makeup, you know Mario Dedivanovic. He’s known for creating some of the most iconic Kim Kardashian looks, making quite the name for himself in the beauty world. He just unveiled his own line (after collabing with KKW Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and others), and I am beyond excited to see it available at Sephora. The first product that caught my attention was this product. Although it says it’s a highlighter, it’s actually more of an eyeshadow topper you use to add extra sparkle and dimension to a look. This video on his Instagram immediately convinced me—I see myself creating holiday looks galore with this smudged all over my eyes.

    Pat McGrath Labs
    Dark Star Volumizing Mascara

After years of contemplating the purchase, I recently splurged on my first Pat McGrath eyeshadow palette. It is arguably the most glorious and also the most wild purchase I’ve made in my time, but I am loving it to bits. My next PMGL purchase will likely be this new mascara. I’ve been loving dark, sultry fall eyeshadow looks lately, and those looks crave a deep black, full lash, and this is supposed to give just that. Every promo photo makes the model’s lashes look incredible, adding just enough length and tons of volume without looking clumpy at all.

    Glow Recipe
Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm

I’m currently working through two other cleansing balms, but this is next up on my list to purchase once those are out. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from Glow Recipe (our other editors love their Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask!), and I love the added element of a little bit of exfoliation to this cleansing balm, giving it a little something different than the usual. It’s also a little less expensive than the Tatcha one I’m using right now, so a solid score for my wallet.

    Nécessaire
    The Body Wash

Nécessaire has been a staple for many of our editors for a while now, but it’s finally at Sephora! This body wash is available in fragrance-free, but I am the most excited to try the sandalwood scent for fall and winter. Body wash doesnt have to be boring, and this one definitely proves it.

    Honey Halo Ultra-Hydrating Ceramide Moisturizer

A good moisturizer is essential this time of year. I’m currently switching from a lotion to a cream product to accommodate my newfound dry ass skin, and this is at the top of my wishlist. Farmacy uses honey in their products to promote calm, hydrated skin (honey is a humectant, meaning it traps and locks moisture into your skin). This product is marketed to those with normal and dry skin with special emphasis on “distressed” skin, which is a great adjective to describe the clogged pores, congestion, and dry patches currently sitting atop my face.

    Soft Matte Complete Foundation

Hear me out: after years and years of preaching dewy skin this, glass skin that—heck, I’ll admit I’m even down with dolphin skin—but in fall 2020, I’m honestly kind of embracing matte skin. I watched an Instagram Story of Katie Jane Hughes (my makeup icon) trying this, and it legit looked like velvet on her skin. I loved how she used a matte foundation with lots of skin prep, which made it so she didn’t look dry or flat, and then she bumped it up with dewy cheekbones and a glowy eye look. I love that makeup juxtaposition, but mostly, I just love how flawless it looks. Wearing makeup makes me feel normal and happy right now, so I’m enjoying the extra bit of coverage—something I didn’t think I’d say ever again.

    Fable & Mane
    HoliRoots Pre-wash Hair Treatment Oil

My skin isn’t just dry on my face anymore; it’s my entire body, including but not limited to: the tops of my toes, under my butt, my cuticles, and of course, my scalp. I’ve been plagued with an irritated scalp for years now (thanks to an allergic reaction that is still ruining my life), so I’m always on the hunt for something that will calm down the redness, reduce flakes and dry spots, and help my hair grow. Fable and Mane is a new brand at Sephora owned and founded by an Indian woman who created the brand with her culture, including Ayurveda, in mind. The products are absolutely gorgeous, and this pre-wash treatment oil is no exception. Containing ashwaghanda, this would be the perfect addition to my oil cleansing hair routine. The reviews are all up-there, saying it works on basically any hair type.

    Rare Beauty
    Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

While the Rare Beauty buzz might have died down a bit, I’m still on a high after realizing that Selena did not phone it in and actually created a line full of innovative and effective products. I already tried this blush formula, and I want it in every. single. color. First of all, it’s so pigmented, which you can tell was to help cater to all skin tones. Light skin can apply a little bit and blend away, while someone with a darker tone can build it up even further. This makes all of the shades useful on people—something that basically every launch should have. Plus, I love the dewy look it gives my cheeks. I went for the red shade because it’s so bright and fun, and now I need all the neutral shades to wear all fall. Also, that berry shade? Swooooon.

    Bread Beauty Supply
    Hair Oil Everyday Gloss

I saw this in an Instagram story and immediately gasped at how gorgeous the packaging was and how much I loved the branding of Bread Beauty Supply. I haven’t tried the products, but I am so obsessed with their entire brand already. This is a Black-owned hair line, so the products are mostly aimed at women with textured, coily, and kinky hair types. While their shampoo and deep conditioner aren’t geared toward my hair at all, I’m really intrigued to try this hair gloss. I’ve been loving the glossy/shiny “glass” hair trend this fall, and I think this would take that look to the next level. If you do have curly hair, note this oil is silicone-free, so it’ll keep your curls fresh, soft, and in-tact all day long without weighing it down.

    Saturday Skin
    Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask

I have really embraced the sleep mask since quarantine began because I can wear them all day long while I work (including through Zoom calls) and no one has a clue. They’re also great for keeping your skin moisturized and plump through the night, which has been necessary for me as I keep my window open (as stated above) so that I’m shivering by the time I wake up. This one caught my eye for a few reasons. For one, Saturday Skin makes such good moisturizing products (I’m a huge fan of their sheet masks and their eye cream!), so I have a strong feeling this would be good. Plus, I’m loving layering up vitamin C products to help target dark spots and keep my skin looking clear and bright. This also has niacinamide and retinol to exfoliate, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of pores.

    Milk Makeup
    Melatonin Overnight Lip Mask

As the temps get cooler, you can’t live without a good lip mask in your collection. We’re huge fans of the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, but this one from Milk has me rethinking my loyalties. This product contains Melatonin, which is supposed to calm irritation, but it also hydrates, smoothes, and softens the lips for plump, kissable lips the next day. This product is also ultra-clean: fragrance-free, sulfate-free, silicone-free, soy-free, paraben-free, vegan, gluten-free, and more, making it a good, clean alternative to the Laneige (or for a solid test run, like I’ll be doing ASAP).

    Sunday Riley
    Pink Drink Firming Resurfacing Essence

This is currently sold out, but that should tell you just how in-demand this is. Sunday Riley, the powerhouse brand that brought us Good Genes, claims this product will retexturize your skin while keeping your skin’s barrier in tact and nourishing your skin with pre and probiotics. The most intriguing ingredient in the line-up (even though there are tons of really compelling ingredients in this, like peptides, fermented honey, and seawater) is ECGC: an antioxidant found in green tea that fights the negative outcomes of pollution and stress in the skin—something we probably all need. I am dying to get my hands on this essence, especially after reading a slew of positive reviews. More

The Stay-At-Home Habits That Have Actually Made Me Healthier

Yes, there are those stay-at-home habits many of us have picked up throughout 2020 that might not be the healthiest, like eating frozen pizzas every other night or staying on the couch until we’ve binged all three seasons of Selling Sunset (no, just me?). You might have given up on a workout routine the second your gym closed and stopped prioritizing healthy eating because you’ve been dealing with a dangerous combination of high-stress, lack of normalcy, and the Doritos bag on top of the fridge staring at you 24/7. You probably picked up the mentality way back in March that normal life is on pause, so who cares if you forego healthy habits? But the reality is that life is not “on pause.” It’s happening right now, every day and every minute, pandemic or not. We can either adopt healthy habits to help us work through the stress of this time, or use it as an excuse to be unhealthy. The good news is that becoming healthier might be easier than you realize. Personally, I’ve recently learned how many stay-at-home habits are actually good for me. I realized a lot about my body, habits, and overall health that I wouldn’t have learned had I not been stuck in my studio apartment for months on end. Here are eight habits I’ve picked up in 2020 that I’ll keep up even long after the pandemic is over.

    1. Prioritizing sleep over everything else
What I thought was “healthiest” for me always came first. Back during the office days (anyone remember what was that like?) I would wake up extra early to go to a workout class beforehand. Even after I switched to working remote full-time over a year ago (before the rest of the world went work-from-home), I would stay up late getting work done instead of calling it quits by 10pm to get in a full eight hours of sleep before my early start time. When the pandemic did hit, workout classes were no longer an option, and I had enough time to check every item off my to-do list and still go through a leisurely nighttime routine.
After months of sleeping more than I have since I was an infant (if only we could have multiple naps a day as adults), I realized how much better I felt. My work was higher quality, exercise felt more enjoyable, and, most importantly, I just felt so much better. I’m not going to lie to you: getting enough sleep is still tough when I have such an early start time to my day. But these days, if I have to choose between a workout or checking items off my to-do list and getting 7-8 hours of sleep, you know what I choose? Sleep. Every time.

    2. Getting outside more
Although I live in Southern California, I am not a beach person. In fact, I notoriously avoid going outside at all costs (I burn instead of tan, and there’s nothing I despise more than feeling hot and sweaty); an air-conditioned indoor space has always been more enticing. Looking back, I didn’t see the outdoors as the crucial part of wellness that it is, and was lazy about getting fresh air and sunshine. Like, check-my-phone-to-find-out-the-weather-instead-of-walking-the-five-steps-to-my-balcony kind of lazy.
I humbly acknowledge what an idiot I was not to take advantage of the outside world while I had full access to it. After being stuck indoors 24/7, I crave the outdoors and nature. I started going on more hikes, fitting in walks around the block when I have a 10-minute work break, and having more meals out on the balcony instead of at the kitchen table. Getting outside more often (SPF-protected, of course) has been life-changing for me. Even just small changes like drinking your morning coffee on the patio or taking a walk instead of running on the treadmill can have a wide variety of health benefits.

    3. Spending free time wisely
If you work a 9-5 job and sleep for the recommended eight hours, that means you still have eight hours of free time a day. You’ll have 40 hours of free time by the end of this work week, and don’t even get me started on the free time you have on weekends. Before the stay-at-home order, I didn’t think about that free time very much. I relaxed on the couch, went to workout classes, hung out with friends, and took naps more often than I’d like to admit. After staying at home all day every day, I had so much free time that I was forced to think about it.
Not to get all deep on you, but having extra hours that I didn’t know what to do with made me reconsider what truly makes me feel fulfilled. Now, I don’t look at free time as something to spend; I think of it as something to invest. And yes, somedays that does mean that aforementioned nap or bingeing Gossip Girl with my boyfriend (I’m very proud to say I got him into it recently), because my wellbeing is worth an investment too (see #1).

    4. Leaving my laptop out of the bedroom
To preface, I live in a studio apartment. My “bedroom” is basically my workspace, eating space, and sleep space. So I never thought the “no-tech-in-the-bedroom” rule could apply to me. Without thinking about it, I charged my laptop in an outlet next to my bedside table and would do work sitting in bed at night. My laptop even lived next to my bed when I slept (don’t ask me why I mindlessly started that habit).
Without any escape from my home at all, my studio apartment was no longer just my workspace, eating space, and sleep space. It also became my 24/7 reality, and I knew I had to make some changes with how technology was a part of every minute of my day. Since I didn’t have a separate room for work, I planned to keep technology away from my sleeping space. Now, my laptop charges overnight across the apartment instead of next to my bed, and I can’t climb under the covers in the evening until work is finished. Call it the placebo effect, but I swear I sleep better, wake up easier, and am less burned out overall.

    Source: @gimmesomeoven

    5. Examining my relationship with food
Yes, I’m obsessed with wellness and eat mostly plant-based. But I can also lick a plate of Fettuccine Alfredo clean and never say no to sushi takeout or cheeseboards. I love food and will always let myself enjoy it (food should never be “off-limits”), but staying at home helped me see where I was mindlessly eating and not even enjoying it. When I’m craving, sometimes it’s my body telling me that it needs nourishment in the form of laughter, a break, or stress-relief, not food. I also identified where I had unconscious food rules that kept me from having a positive relationship with food and with my body.
To rewrite your food narrative, you must first identify what it is. If you find yourself saying, “I can’t have this pasta dish because I’m on a diet,” or “I can’t eat this cookie because there are too many calories,” your food narrative is one of deprivation. No matter what weight you reach or what diet you perfect, you will never feel satisfied. Instead, change your thoughts to feeling excited about trying a new plant-based recipe or how leafy greens will nourish, energize, and revitalize your body. Healthy eating will become a reward.

    6. Exercising at home (and outside of a routine)
Pre-global crisis, my workout routine went like this: sign up in advance for trendy studio classes with expensive cancellation fees, so I had to debate whether the $20 cancellation fee was worth it to lay in bed a while longer (it never was). On the days I didn’t have time to make it to a 60-minute class, I didn’t exercise at all since anything less didn’t feel worth it. But as soon as my studio closed down, I had to rely on pure motivation to get my butt to move after a long workday, and if I didn’t fit in smaller movements (like a walk around the block and 15-minute Pilates video), I knew I wouldn’t exercise at all.
Even just a few weeks into my new workout norm, I realized something. For the first time, I was listening to my body–not only about when to workout, but how (does my body need to burn some energy and dance around the living room, or does it need a relaxing yoga session?). While I’m still counting down the days until my trendy LA studios can open (what can I say, I’m a sucker for dim lighting and lavender towels), I will never forget to listen to my body instead of mindlessly signing up for a class to check another thing off my to-do list. Plus, I changed what exercise means to me. Instead of fitting in a 60-minute class, I focus on living less sedentary in whatever way that looks like each day.

    Source: @ceceolisa

    7. Regularly breaking out of my wellness routines
I’m a creature of habit: I like to have the same thing for breakfast every morning (berries, tahini, and cacao nibs, please!), do the same workout every day, and do not like trying new things (just ask my mom how I refused to go to sleepaway camp every summer). But it wasn’t until I broke out of some of my wellness routines that I truly felt healthy. Don’t get me wrong: routine is crucial because it helps build beneficial habits. Because of routine, I crave fruit in the morning instead of sugary cereal, and I don’t even have to think about regularly exercising because it’s already a part of my daily schedule.
But here’s another important factor of wellness that I learned when my beloved workout studios and juice bars closed: while routine is important for building habits, breaking out of routine is also important for enjoying your healthy habits. Trying new things can not only introduce you to new practices to add to your routine, but breaking out of the norm can build confidence and feel exciting (instead of feeling bored or complacent). Take a different route on your walk, cook with a vegetable you’ve never tried before, and take an online Zumba class if you’ve always sworn you have no rhythm.

    8. Socializing more (and smarter)
Pre-pandemic Josie thought she had her shit together. I wouldn’t stay out too late on Friday nights so I could wake up well-rested for a Saturday morning workout, and I could not be tempted by even the most persuasive friend to come to Wine Wednesday if I had a lot to get done that day. Sounds like a very adult thing to do, right? I’ll give myself an A+ for responsibility, but you know what I’m thinking now that my favorite bars are closed and I’m quarantining away from many of my friends? I would give anything for more Wine Wednesdays and late Friday nights.
Perhaps the biggest lesson we can all take from 2020 is that humans don’t just want to be social; we need it. Since March, a weekly Zoom date with my college best friends is non-negotiable. I call my mom more often, say yes to plans on weeknights, and prioritize seeing people I love over checking items off my to-do list. We can work out every day and eat only the healthiest foods on the planet, but we can’t truly be healthy if we’re not surrounded by a strong support system of people who make us happy. After all, what’s the point of wellness? Being healthy is not the end goal; it’s simply the tool that gives us more time (and better time) with the people we love.

7 Things to Do for Your Business RN to Save Time and Money Later

For the first time ever, many of us are sharing a season of life that has necessitated major lifestyle shifts. The months of social distancing have forced many of us to slow down in all sorts of ways, from our social lives to our work. Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs are experiencing a slow season, which can often be more stressful than it is relaxing. Some business owners have experienced a lull in operations—or an inability to operate—to an extent they never could have predicted. While nothing about our current circumstances are ideal, there are opportunities to use this slower season of life and business to your advantage.
From tackling your books to getting your website in order (made easy and painless with our go-to platform, Squarespace), consider these seven things you can do right now that will save you time and money later.

    1. Optimize your web presence
As a savvy, modern business owner, you probably have a website already. If you don’t, now is the time! We love Squarespace because it takes all the guesswork out of building and hosting your site. There are no plugins to constantly update or complicated hosting vs. building questions to consider. Everything is included in one easy-to-use platform that can get you up and running in a few hours.
Why is having a website important? First and foremost, cultivating a web presence and ensuring customers or readers know where to go to find you is a great resource that will save you the headache of answering the same questions over and over. Secondly, a well-designed website will entice your customers or readers to come back again and again and should save you time and money in the long-run. Today, take a good hard look at your website and ask yourself the following questions:

Do you have a F.A.Q. page that answers your customers’ or clients’ most common questions so they don’t need to contact you for basic info?
Can your visitors easily learn how to contact you, make an appointment, or make a purchase?
Are your products and services displayed in a clear and easy-to-understand way?
If needed, is customer support easily accessible?
Are links to your social media channels and e-mail sign up forms easily found?
    2. Get your finances in order
We hate to say it, but there’s no time like the present to give your finances a good, close look. It may not be all that tempting to look at your balance sheets right now, but getting your finances in order will make your life so much easier during tax season and throughout the year. First things first, sit down and make sure you’ve received payment for every single dollar you earned to date this year. If you don’t already have a system for tracking incoming and outgoing cash, now is the time to set a system in place. Ideally, you’ll have a system—whether that be through a spreadsheet, accounting software, or working with an accountant—that allows you to easily track what you’ve spent, what money you’re owed, and what the status of any invoices are. Follow up on any overdue payments now and make sure you have a system in place for catching overdue invoices sooner rather than later.
Next, you’ll want to get a plan for tax season in place. To eliminate any expensive surprises down the road, you’ll want to make sure you have a strong handle on how to pay all of your taxes. Depending on your business structure and how you earn income, this could involve a mix of annual taxes, quarterly taxes, and business taxes. Of course, hiring a professional is always handy, but if you can’t afford an accountant long-term, you can still pay for a consultation or two that can help you get your tax ducks in a row so that you know exactly what you need to pay and when. Squarespace also offers extensions for services like TaxJar and Quickbooks to help you seamlessly keep track of your taxes and accounting needs.

    3. Network to your advantage
While more traditional networking methods are less available right now, there’s no reason you can’t network via phone or video chat. Like you, there are other business owners and professionals who have some extra time on their hands and are longing to experience a bit more connection. Set up some informational interviews with professionals you admire and ask if you can pick their brain about your industry, their work, or anything that can help you now or down the line in your business. Learn from their mistakes. If you can afford it, show your gratitude by sending them a gift card to a local coffee shop so they can grab a cup of coffee before your call if they want to!

    4. Hit the books
When business is slow, it can be very tempting to storm full speed ahead while attempting to drum up new business. There’s nothing wrong with this strategy, but do a gut check and see if it’s really working for you. If you know that no matter how hard you try, business will be slow right now, it’s OK to take a break. Pause, rest, and let your creative juices flow. Now is a great time to invest in education, whether through online courses, informational interviews, or good old fashioned reading. Instead of automatically hiring a consultant, contractor, or employee to tackle the areas you struggle with, start by learning how you can manage them yourself. Squarespace offers online courses that allow you to learn at your own pace with a variety of helpful subjects such as design, email marketing, and SEO.

The best business owners are ones who really understand all areas of their business, from production to finances to marketing to human resources. Pick a weak spot and learn more about how you can improve. Even if you feel like you have a good understanding of how to manage all areas of your business, you may learn some creative new ideas that can come in handy down the road.

    5. Create a killer marketing plan
You can execute effective marketing on the fly; a quick Facebook post here, a speedy email blast there. But alongside those more impromptu and organic marketing efforts, you should be following a strategic marketing plan. You don’t have to follow a marketing plan word-for-word until the end of time, but it can serve as a strong guide that you can reference when you’re unsure of what move to make next. A good marketing plan should outline your business’s goals for the year, what steps you can take to achieve those goals, and what your marketing budget is. Use slow seasons to create and update your marketing plan and focus your marketing efforts, as staying on a well-planned path can be a big time saver down the road when you find yourself doubting what move to make next.

    6. Load up on content
Now that you have a marketing plan in place, use some of your downtime to stockpile content. Start with social media. There are dozens upon dozens of great social media scheduling apps on the market that will allow you to upload and schedule posts to publish at a later date. These tools give you the chance to perfect your marketing plans and to review your upcoming content in a way that’s easy to visualize.

The same goes for email. We love the integrated email campaigns from Squarespace, which pull directly from your site and make designing your emails easy and fast. If you want to send a weekly email newsletter, start writing a month’s worth at once and schedule the newsletters for later dates. You can always tweak them if need be, but scheduling your newsletters early will ensure you don’t let one slip through the cracks once you get busy.
Don’t forget to finally make the leap and purchase a custom email domain! It’s an inexpensive way to make your business look super professional. Squarespace users can easily customize their email domain name and manage their email through G Suite.

    7. Create streamlined processes
Operations experts don’t get enough credit in the business world. Sure, the sales department can bring in big numbers and the design team can make everything they touch look stunning, but it’s safe to guess that there is an operations team working hard to keep the show running. For smaller businesses, operations are super important, especially as you grow your business. Use extra time found during slower periods to invest in creating foolproof operations processes. Sit down and think about where in your workflow you experience delays or complications. What steps would stop those struggles from occurring? It’s OK if there are more than a few errors during the trial-and-error phase, as this experimenting will eventually lead you to the right fit for you and your team.
Creating an easy-to-follow and organized operational process will save both time and money later by simplifying your workflow and eliminating confusion, which will allow you to work faster. Consider tackling how you invoice, assign work to freelancers, or rethink how you create social media content. Start with just one new process and see how it feels, then move onto a new process until your whole business is running like the well oiled machine you always knew it could be.
One final pro-tip: use Squarespace’s Zapier integration to connect to your go-to task management app and set up automations that can save you tons of time. You know what they say, time is money!
