INDUCTEE Bernie Taupin took a jab at Jann Wenner during his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2023 acceptance speech on Friday. Taupin, who is best known for co-writing several hits with Sir Elton John, including Tiny Dancer, was honored with a Musical Excellence Award at the Rock Hall.
During his speech, Taupin discussed his artistic “marriage” with John and alluded to the contentious statements made recently by Jann Wenner regarding Black and female artists.
“I guess you could say my being inducted is a paradox, perhaps, but either way, I’m honored to be in the class of 2023 alongside a group of such profoundly ‘articulate’ women and outstanding ‘articulate’ Black artists along with all of the other music masters here tonight,” Taupin remarked.
The seven “philosophers of rock” were all white males, and Jann Wenner, the publisher of Rolling Stone and co-founder of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, just released his collection of interviews with them.
Wenner asserted then that no female musicians were featured because none “were as articulate enough on this intellectual level” in an interview with David Marchese to promote the book.
He continued by asserting that other Black musicians who did not “articulate at that level” included Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder. Wenner apologized and was removed from the Rock Hall board in response to his comments.

Tom Morello’s children
Along with being a successful musician, Morello is also a proud father.
Over the years, he and his wife have welcomed two sons named Rhoads and Roman.
“First and foremost, it’s being present,” Morello said of parenting in an interview with Elaine Sir.
“I had tremendous love and support from my mom and her side of the family. I didn’t meet my father until I was 34 years old. So with my kids, I’m trying to make up for that.
“I’ll make sure that history doesn’t repeat itself in that regard. I prioritize THEM. And, sometimes that means turning down work, being extra tired; but when they ask, ‘Daddy, can we do BLANK with you?’ – the answer is always yes.”
Like Luiso, Morello’s kids also stay out of the spotlight and off social media.
Details of Rhoads and Roman’s personal lives are unclear at this time.

Michael’s Careless Whisper meaning revealed, part three
Michael then went on to explain that he started seeing Jane – but didn’t stop his relationship with Helen.
He continued: ”And the girl who didn’t even see me when I was twelve invited me in. So I went out with her for a couple of months but I didn’t stop seeing Helen. I thought I was being smart – I had gone from being a total loser to being a two-timer.
”And I remember my sisters used to give me a hard time because they found out and they really liked the first girl.
”The whole idea of ‘Careless Whisper’ was the first girl finding out about the second – which she never did.”
Michael added: ”Careless Whisper’ was us dancing, because we danced a lot, and the idea was – we are dancing…but she knows…and it’s finished.”

“She had moved in right next to where I used to stand and wait for my next-door neighbour, who used to give me a lift home from school.
”And one day I saw her walk down the path next to me and I thought – now where did SHE come from? She didn’t know it was me.
“It was a few years later and I looked a lot different. Then we played a school disco with (his band) The Executive and she saw me singing and decided she fancied me.
”By this time she was that much older and a big buxom thing – and eventually I started seeing her. She invited me in one day when I was waiting for my lift and I was…in heaven.”
Michael’s Careless Whisper meaning revealed, part one
In his 1991 autobiography, George explained that much of the tracks content was based on experiences and events from his childhood.
The late star once explained the inspiration behind the track came when he was a youngster, after meeting a girl named Jane who he had a crush on.
Michael wrote: ”When I was twelve, thirteen, I used to have to chaperone my sister, who was two years older, to an ice rink at Queensway in London. There was a girl there with long blonde hair whose name was Jane.
”I was a fat boy in glasses and I had a big crush on her, though I didn’t stand a chance. My sister used to go and do what she wanted when we got to the skating rink and I would spend the afternoon swooning over this girl Jane.”
He continued: ”A few years later, when I was sixteen, I had my first relationship with a girl called Helen. It had just started to cool off a bit when I discovered that the blonde girl from Queensway had moved in just around the corner from my school.

Sheryl Crow to present
In 1992, the singer was on the verge of releasing her debut album before she decided not to.
She reportedly told friends at the time that she didn’t feel the record represented her correctly, saying songs came off as being “too produced” and “slick.”
The album’s release date, September 22, 1992, was consequently canceled by her record label at the time.
In 1993, when Sheryl started dating Kevin Gilbert, she joined a group of musicians known to themselves as the “Tuesday Music Club.”
Gilbert, David Baerwald, and David Ricketts would all collaborate on what would eventually become Sheryl’s 1993 debut album, Tuesday Night Music Club.
Since then, Sheryl has released a whopping ten studio albums, with her 11th – titled Threads – dropping on August 30.

Willie Nelson U.S. Exclusive: ‘I’ve always been a wannabe cowboy’
“I’ve always been a wannabe cowboy,” Nelson admitted as he surveyed the rural idyll before him.
It was probably a bit late for him to saddle up and start rounding up cattle on the dusty plains of Texas but before we get on to other subjects dear to his heart.
“I grew up with horses and I love them,” he continues. “I don’t know why, they’re just good friends to me.”
Not so long ago, he saved a large number from the slaughterhouse, allowing them to live out their days in Nelson country.
“I still have about 75 rescue horses,” he says. “I made a deal with them . . . I won’t bother them if they don’t bother me. They run wild and free and they love it.”
So just picture the scene as he adds with an air of contentment: “From where I am now, I can see them running around in the back pasture.”

Willie Nelson, a weed guy confirmed by the U.S. Sun
“So how have you been spending your time shut away from the world?” a reporter asked him at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Not been up to much,” he sighed. “Playing a little golf whenever the weather lets me. Mainly just hanging out.”
And has your range of Willie’s Reserve cannabis products been helping you through?: “Oh, absolutely! I’m the chief taster of everything.”
Though vaping is his method of choice, he was also partial to wife Annie’s recipe for infused chocolates.
“They’re fantastic,” he enthused. “Annie’s really good at that . . . and all the girls up in Colorado working with the Reserve.”
