Music royalty and British royalty came face to face.
It was a royal affair at the European premier of Lion King as The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined Beyoncé and Jay-Z on the orange carpet.
It is believed to be the first time that the couples have met but they greeted each other warmly and shared a brief conversation about their busy schedules and children, with Jay-Z telling new father Harry: “Always find some time for yourself.”
It was a star studded event in Leicester Square, London, and both Beyoncé and Meghan were dressed for the occasion. The singer stepped out in a golden gown by Cong Tri while the Duchess wore a black Jason Wu cocktail dress.
According to Buckingham Palace, the event was held in “support of the conservation and communities work” of Prince Harry through the Royal Foundation. Disney also made a donation to The Duke of Sussex’s upcoming environment and community initiative which will be formally announced this autumn.
In the Disney remake, Beyoncé plays the role of lioness Nala alongside Donald Glover, Seth Rogen and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Sir Elton John and Pharrell Williams, who oversaw the music, also attended the premiere.
