More restrictions lifted in Dubai, including for elderly and children

While for the majority of the population in Dubai and the wider UAE restrictions have been lifted for a few weeks now, the same can’t be said for children under 12 and adults over 60.

For the past couple of months as restrictions began to ease, children under 12 and adults over 60 were still banned from going to places like malls, supermarkets and more.

However, as of June 18 that all changes per directives from Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management.

As of today, both age groups are permitted to go to malls, cinemas, public play areas, parks, museums, beaches, swimming pools and more.

Similarly, home beauty services are now allowed for both age groups.

Not only that, but many venues are also now allowed to operate at 100 per cent capacity – this has already been the case for malls across Dubai for a couple of weeks. Establishments that can now operate at full capacity include:

  • Swimming pools and all aquatic sports and venues
  • Private museums cultural centres, art galleries and public libraries
  • Water parks, pools, meeting rooms, and kids’ clubs at hotels
  • Home beauty services
  • Care facilities for the elderly and people of determination
  • Sports equipment and kid’s playground areas in public parks and beaches.

While restrictions have been lifted, there are still many precautionary measures in place. This includes social distancing measures; restaurants and pools can only run at certain capacities; and curfew rules between 11pm and 6am still apply in the emirate.

However, this latest decision is a positive move in the direction back to normal life.
