Inside Strictly star Robin ‘Bobby’ Windsor’s final days on a cruise where he shared dance video & said ‘show must go on’

TRAGIC Strictly Come Dancing star Robin Windsor’s final days were spent working on a luxurious cruise ship and taking in the spectacular sights of Africa.

Tributes have been pouring in for the professional dancer who sadly passed away aged 44.

Robin finished runner-up on the 2012 series of the hit BBC show with actress Lisa Riley.

In the weeks before his death, he had been working on a once in a lifetime cruise that was sailing around Africa.

He flew out to join the cruise in the Indian Ocean at the beginning of January with another cruise entertainer.

Robin was pictured next to his bikini clad co-dancer by the pool “somewhere in the sea”.

He then visited Madagascar, Mozambique, and South Africa while he was dancing for the guests.

In Madagascar he posted a photo with a lemur and a video of him doing a traditional dance with locals.

Robin also stayed at a five-star safari lodge called Leopard Mountain where saw elephants, giraffes, warthogs, and lions.

He then visited East London and Cape Town, which he described as “glorious” and the “distraction of all distractions”.

In one post he stands shirtless on the beach in Camps Bay west of Cape Town city.

At the end of January he posted one video dancing onboard the cruise with his partner saying “The show must go on”.

His dance partner on the cruise, Gordana Grandosek Whiddon, posted a tribute of the pair dancing on the ship.

She said in the Instagram post: “I love you Bobby”.

The cruise is a 93-night sojourn that left Southampton on November 19 with Fred. Olsen Cruises.

It sailed through the Mediterranean and into the Indian Ocean, before sailing clockwise around Africa.

The ship is named the ‘MS Bolette’ and has two swimming pools and two jacuzzis, 11 bars and lounges, and six restaurants.

It also has a two-tiered show lounge where performers entertained the 1600 guests.

The cruise visits Egypt, India, Mozambique, Madagascar, South Africa, Namibia, Senegal, and Spain amongst other countries.

Robin first appeared on the BBC series with Patsy Kensit in 2010, reaching week nine of the competition, before being eliminated at the same stage with Eastenders legend Anita Dobson two years later.

He went on to reach week five with Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden in 2013.

He also performed with newsreader Susanna Reid in a special episode for Children In Need in 2011 and Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond in the 2015 Christmas special.

Susanna fought back tears as she learned of Robin’s death live on Good Morning Britain.

Susanna said: “He was an absolutely remarkable dancer, strong, so creative, he was just so enthusiastic about dancing. I just adored him.

“He was the most incredible personality. As soon as I danced with him there was something really special about it.”

A Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines spokesperson said they were sad to hear of Robin’s passing.

“We were fortunate to have the talented Robin join us on board earlier this year.
