There are new beaches coming to Dubai

There will be some new beaches coming to Dubai soon.

Under a new project approved by His Highness Sheikh Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, an extra 12km of beaches in Dubai are set to undergo development.

Over the weekend, His Highness unveiled the plans on Twitter stating that one million square metres from Al Mamzar Beach to Umm Suqeim II will be developed. The project is set to cost Dhs500 million.

In addition to the developments of the new beach areas, the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is set to undergo a Dhs100 million development project, which will see the wetlands in the sanctuary increase by 20 hectares. In addition, the green cover will be increased by planting mangrove trees in a 100-hectare area.

Speaking on the new projects, Sheikh Mohammed stated: “We have adopted global best practices and implemented innovative projects to preserve our environment and protect the health and safety of people in the UAE.”

He also added that the nation is “committed to implementing innovative projects that optimize the use of resources and solve critical challenges as part of the country’s strategy to ensure environmental sustainability”.

“A key element in the UAE’s development model, environmental sustainability is reflected in all initiatives and projects launched by government entities, independently or in partnership with the private sector. Sustainability is key to the UAE’s future readiness,” he said.

“Providing a clean environment is at the heart of our efforts to advance the development & provide a high quality of life both now and in the future.”
