The one where the ‘Friends’ cast officially announce their return

“It’s happening…”

If you were remotely on any social media application this weekend, then you know that cast are set to reunite soon.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer all took to Instagram to announce that they will be returning to the original  soundstage. This has been a dream come true for fans of the iconic show, who have been hoping to watch the cast reunite since the show ended in 2004.

Last year, the WarnerMedia-created SVOD platform, HBO Max bought the rights to all 10 seasons of the series from Netflix, and ever since then rumours about a possible reunion have been swirling. The actors will star in an exclusive untitled unscripted special on HBO Max, and according to Variety, the cast are expected to bag at least $2.5 million each.

In October of last year, Jennifer told Ellen DeGeneres that while there wouldn’t be a  reboot coming any time soon, “we would love for there to be , but we don’t know what that something is.” The highly-anticipated special and all 10 seasons of Friends will be available for streaming once HBO Max debut’s in April.

“Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire ‘Friends’ library,” said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max.

This will be a great way for the streaming service to launch, as Friends has already established itself as one of the world’s most loved shows. Even though it ended almost 16 years ago, it was one of the most watched shows on Netflix. The characters and cast are loved to the point that their reunion for Jennifer’s first Instagram post caused the app to crash.
