The daily number of coronavirus cases in the UAE has dropped for the first time

Things are looking up

As coronavirus continues to affect people across the globe, each day there is an update given on the number of cases, not only in the UAE but in all countries to see how it is spreading.

Well, in the latest update from the Dubai Health Authority there’s been some good news – the number of daily cases of COVID-19 has dropped for the first time.

On Monday 27 April, there were 490 new confirmed cases, and that was a drop in 46 cases compared to Sunday April 26, which had 536 new confirmed cases.

This is fantastic news, given all of the stringent efforts authorities have implemented in order to curb the spread of the virus.

There has now been over one million COVID-19 tests completed across the country, which is essential to effectively containing the virus, Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention explained in a statement on Monday.

“The more tests we perform, the more proactive we can handle those proven to be in contact with confirmed cases, as well as those who don’t exhibit any symptoms and yet carry the infection,” he said.

Not only has the government implemented mass testing nationwide, a Centre of Coronavirus Control has been established, field hospitals have been built in record time, apps have been launched to track the virus, thorough sterilisation methods have been implemented and necessary lockdowns have taken place, all of which have contributed to efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The UAE has also ranked amongst the top 10 countries in the world for the nation’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Things are looking up, and it’s all thanks to the efforts of the government, as well as the community spirit throughout the nation.
