Grab your Burberry trench coat as Dubai unveils a street where it rains daily

This persistent heat has made us nostalgic for rainy Europe, or even Dubai winter when we get an odd sandy shower.

Well, all-year-round downpour is no longer a fantasy as plans for a ‘Raining Street’ are underway. Part of The Heart of Europe project on Dubai World Islands, the puddle covered street will be located near Portofino hotel.

Clever bunch at Kleindienst Group, the developers behind The Heart of Europe, have designed a system that keeps the temperature of the street at consistent 27 degrees Celsius with the level of rain adjusted from a slight drizzle to a heavy shower. If the temperature on the street peeks above 27 degrees Celsius, cold water will be activated, so you can be sure that it will feel cool no matter the weather outside.

This sustainable venture will use solar energy and aims to produce zero carbon emissions. They also banned microplastics to protect the surrounding marine life.

An ambitious project located out at sea, once complete The Heart of Europe will comprise of seven islands which will house all together 15 themed hotels and resorts as well as 4,000 holiday homes. There might even be a snow plaza to chill at, so bring your mittens as well as an umbrella.
