Dubai pays tribute to the late Emir of Kuwait by lighting up the Burj Khalifa

One day after his passing, Dubai has paid tribute to the late Emir of Kuwait.

On Wednesday night, the Burj Khalifa lit up with a large image of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah as a tribute to His Highness after he sadly passed away at the age of 91.

In a statement on the official Burj Khalifa Instagam page, condolences were shared.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the nation of Kuwait and its people on the passing of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber,” the post said.

Yesterday, after the news of Sheikh Sabah’s death was announced HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, paid tribute.

Posting a photo of His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed referred to the late Emir of Kuwait as the “compassionate father” of the country” and “the noble prince of humanity”.

HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also paid tribute to the late Emir of Kuwait on Twitter.

“Our sincere condolences go to the Al-Sabah family and the people of Kuwait,” he said. “Sheikh Sabah epitomised wisdom, tolerance, and peace and he was a great pioneer of Gulf cooperation. He served Kuwait with honour and grace, and his work will never be forgotten. May God have mercy on him.”
