A resemblance of normality returns to Dubai malls

After what feels like an eternity – when in fact it’s been about nine weeks – life is slowly returning to a resemblance of normal in Dubai amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, and that includes malls in the emirate.

As of today, Wednesday May 27, malls will return to their original operating hours of 10am to 10pm. However, social distancing measures are in still in place.

In addition, malls in Dubai will now be allowed to operate at 70 per cent capacity. This was previously capped at a capacity of 30 per cent when malls first reopened at the end of April, per directions from the Dubai Economy.

This also applies to staff in stores operating at 70 per cent capacity, which was previously 30 per cent. Meanwhile children aged under 12 and anyone over 60 are still not permitted to enter malls.

As for restaurants, social distancing measures must be implemented ensuring there is at least two metres between tables and shisha and buffets are still banned.

Masks are still to be worn at all times, and temperatures of mallgoers will be checked upon entry to shopping centres.
