From Hollywood to the region, these celebrities are set to receive a Dubai Star

From singers and actors, to footballers and fashion designers!

Back in March, Dubai announced that they will be bringing one of Hollywood’s biggest tourist attraction home. Los Angeles is known for it’s iconic Walk of Fame and now we are getting our own star-studded pavement.

Dubbed ‘Dubai Stars’, the brand new attraction developed by Emaar will be unveiled in Downtown Dubai in October 2019. The concept will see 10,000 stars light up Downtown Dubai, and it is said to be four times the size of its famous counterpart in La La Land. 400 of the stars will be revealed on opening day, and the celebrities will be voted for by the public in a global social media campaign.

While most names are still a mystery, here is who we know will receive a Dubai Star:

Abdel Halim Hafez

A singer, actor and movie producer, Abdel Halim Hafez is considered to be one of the greatest Egyptian musicians of all time. In his 25-year career, he was known for his patriotic songs, and was described as “The voice of the people”. His most popular songs include and Gana

Robert Downey, Jr

Robert Downey Jr. is one of Hollywood’s biggest names. Best known for his iconic role as in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor is one of the latest names to be announced for the Dubai Walk of Fame.

Rami Malek

Rami Malek made history this year, after becoming the first actor from Arab origin to win the Best Actor award at the Oscars. Now, the villain in the upcoming James Bond movie, will be getting a star in Dubai’s version of the Walk of Fame.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Known for movies like Titanic, Inception, The Wolf of Wall Street and , for which he won Best Actor at the Academy Awards, Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the world’s most famous actors. So, it comes as no surprise that he will be among those honoured with a Dubai Star.

Elie Saab

Lebanese fashion designer, Elie Saab, was the first person announced to receive a Dubai Star. The designer is one of the biggest names in the fashion industry, and rose to prominent fame in 2002 when he dressed Halle Berry for the Oscars, where she made history as the she became the first black women to win the Best Actress award. Ever since then, he dressed some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names including Beyoncé, Madonna and Priyanka Chopra to name a few.

Nancy Ajram

The Lebanese singer is one of the region’s biggest artists, releasing countless chart-toppers in a career which spanned over 20 years. The hitmaker has performed several sold-out concerts in Dubai, so it is no surprise that she is one of the many celebrities set to be honoured by a Dubai Star.

Fayrouz

An icon in the Arab World, Lebanese classic singer Fayrouz will also be receiving a Dubai Star. With over 150 million records sold worldwide, there is no denying that the Kifak Inta hitmaker is a star.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

The WWE wrestler turned one of Hollywood’s most successful stars will also be getting a star in Dubai. From the franchise to , Dwayne has managed to release one blockbuster after the other, bringing us some of the best action and comedy films.

Lionel Messi

The Barcelona striker is one of the world’s best and most recognised football players. The five-time Ballon D’Or winner has won several awards throughout his career, and he will now be able to add the Dubai Star to his list of honours.

South Korea is currently taking over the world with their music and beauty products, so it is no surprise that K-pop bands will be honoured at the launch. The seven member band has been performing since 2013, and have broken several records ever since. This includes becoming the first Korean artists to top the Billboard 200 with their  album.

Zachary Levi

The 38-year-old actor was best known for his role as Chuck in a series of the same name. However, this year he sky-rocketed to the top with his role as Captain Marvel in the 2019 superhero comedy,

Hong Kongese martial artist, actor, film director, producer, stuntman, and singer, Jackie Chan is one of the most recognised names in the entertainment industry. Appearing in over 150 films, the 65-year-old returned to Dubai recently to shoot scenes for his upcoming movie, .

The Lebanese-American writer, poet and visual artist is known internationally for his work and his contributions to literature in both Arabic and English.

Shah Rukh Khan

One of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Shah Rukh Khan was the second Dubai Star recipient to be announced. The Indian legend has appeared in more than 80 movies and has received numerous accolades throughout his career.

Abdul Majeed Abdullah

One of the most successful Saudi Arabian singers, Abdul Majeed Abdullah will also be honoured with a Dubai Star. The artist’s music has been previously played as part of the Dubai Fountain show.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

The Indian cricketer commonly known as MS Dhoni will also be receiving a star in Dubai’s take on the Walk of Fame.

Ranveer Singh

The Bollywood actor and style icon is also set to receive a Dubai Star.

Exo

Another K-pop band set to receive a Dubai Star is Exo. The nine-member Korean-Chinese band performed at The Dubai Fountain in 2018.

Ni Ni

Known as China’s sweetheart, Ni Ni will soon have her name in Dubai’s walk of fame. The actress is best known for her role as Yu Mo in the 2011 film
