Why the Queen will think Meghan Markle’s edition of Vogue is ‘idiotic’

After seven months of working as a guest editor for Vogue, the cover for Meghan Markle’s issue of the magazine has been revealed.

The Duchess of Sussex has been working on the September issue of the luxurious publication, the most important release of the year.

The former Suits actress, 37, who is a known advocate for equality and female empowerment, has dedicated the issue to diversity.

However, celebrity journalist Dan Wooton has slated the new mum’s decision to associate herself with the magazine and has insisted the Queen won’t be a fan of the media move.

Speaking to Christine Bleakley to Lorraine today, he said, “The Queen will think this is an absolutely idiotic decision and so do I.

“I feel I need to bring a bit of reality to the situation. Vogue is probably the most elite expensive snobby fashion-dominated, skinny-dominated magazine in the entire world.

“This is not some great mainstream force for good, this is a magazine for the elite.

“The fact she has chosen to devote seven months of her work as a duchess to working for Vogue, I think that’s a problem.

“It’s quite a weird this, to go and very publicly guest edit a magazine putting yourself out there is such a public non-royal way.”

In light of Dan’s comments, plenty of fans of Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, took to social media to defend the parents, who recently welcomed their first son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, into the world.

One Twitter user wrote, “I wish the media would stop giving Meghan Markle such a tough time. If she wants to guest edit Vogue and raise awareness she can! Yes she’s a royal, she’s not the traditional royal in a box. She has a voice, interests and she can’t ignore if she enjoys something.”

And another added, “It’s actually disgusting the hate and bullying Meghan Markle is getting over this Vogue guest edit.”
